Dylan raced through the streets, dodging other pedestrians as best as he could. Some of them were fellow students of his at Southwood Secondary School. None of them quite cared about what was happening. Dylan was honour roll student and member of the chess team. Who was running away from pissed off linebacker Luke Hartell. He quickly ducked into an alleyway, hoping there be somewhere for him to hide. All he found were locked doors and a chain linked fence trapping him. He swallowed hard, accepting his fate.

“There you are, you little rat.” Dylan backed towards the fence, still trying to get away from the imposing mass of muscle named Luke. “You think its funny that my English report on Othello talked more about Batman then it did on the book” Luke walked menacingly down the alley closer and close to Dylan.

“Othello is a play and I thought you like topic closer to your reading level, Luke.” I may not be able to win a fight with him but I can get in some hurtful remarks before I lose the ability to speak.

Luke was now on top of Dylan “Shut up you stupid, nerd.” With single punch to the gut I was knocked down, my glasses went flying. Once down he continued to pummel me.

Name: Lucinda "Lulu" Lewis
Weight: 120
Height: 5'7"
Hair: Long, thick, brown, slightly curly
Eyes: Dark brown
Body Type: Athletic, borderline thin

Lulu couldn't, for the life of her, figure out her calculus homework. Why she needed to take calculus, she had no idea. She was getting a degree in fashion design, for gods sakes. But her councilor was adamant that she take a math class. And calculus had been the only class with a spot open. Now she knew why--it was fucking hard. There were too many letters, not enough numbers, and there were strange symbols that she was pretty sure didn't belong on this planet. She had a hard time not writing 'I don't fucking know' on every page of her textbook.

She was just getting back from a tutoring session at the local library. The campus library gave lessons occasionally, but they never helped. At least the local library dumbed it down for her. She could understand at least part of the mess that she was assigned. Walking down the street, forlorn and grumpy, she gasped when someone nearly ran into her. "Hey!" she shouted, turning to watch him run off. A second later, a much bigger boy flew past her, presumably after the first. Lulu frowned. This couldn't be good.

Grabbing her key chain, she found the tiny can of mace that hung there. She also grabbed her cell phone and pre-dialed 911. Just in case things got ugly. The two boys--they had to be a couple of years younger than her--ran into a nearby alley, where she followed. She got there just in time to hear the larger boy's comment and see him punch the other boy.

"Hey!" she shouted, her voice revealing a slight Spanish accent. She approached them carefully, but determined. She hated bullies. "Back off, jarhead."

Luke stopped his assault on Dylan after hearing the Spanish woman's voice. Dylan saw him turn around, eyeing up the woman. He couldn't quite see what she looked like, outside of her skin colour. Luke must have picked up a new girlfriend because he didn't remember him having one that was Spanish.

“Well hello, beautiful. Sorry for you having to see me and my good friend Dylan here in the middle of a disagreement. How about I it up to you, I know this wonderful little cafe nearby.” Luke threw more of his dollar store charm at the woman, last he saw of it was hands moving towards her. Dylan saw his opening to get some need revenge on the muscle bound idiot and kicked him as hard as he could in back of his knee

Lulu scowled at the boy. Was he really hitting on her? After she just saw him punch some kid in the gut? What was wrong with this town? She had just moved there for the latest semester at the college, so she wasn't sure how things went in this town. But apparently, beating some guy up was a form of a pick up line.

"Friend? This is how you treat friends?" She gasped as the boy's knee crumpled under him, causing him to fall. Had the smaller boy--Dylan--done that? She hoped not. Fighting with bullies just made things worse. A lot worse. She looked at the young boy and gestured. "Come on. Let's get out of here!"

Dylan hands fumbled looking for where his glasses fell. Once he found them he grabbed the woman's hand and quickly moved out of the alleyway, before Luke's bad knee recovered. “Whoever you are thanks for distracting that fool for me. Am Dylan by the way and you are?” Dylan's hand moved to put his glasses back on to see what his saviour looked like.

Lulu grabbed the boy and practically pulled him out of the alley, risking a glance behind her shoulder. The boy was still on the ground, but it would only be a matter of time before he got up. She smiled a bit and shrugged. "No problem. I'm Lulu." The boy stopped to put his glasses on, forcing her to stop as well and turn to him. She adjusted her bag on her shoulder and tilted her head.

"Are you ok? You don't need to go to the hospital or anything? You're not bleeding? Nothing's hurt?"

With his glasses on he could finally see Lulu's face and damn she was hot. While she wasn't wearing a revealing outfit, it was clear that she had very nice body. Every piece of clothing on her seemed to be designed to flirt her in some way.

It took a while for Dylan to notice that she was waiting for an answer besides staring at her body “Ummm... Nothing seems to be broken. Though I would like to find a place to sit down.”

Lulu studied him for a moment. He was cute in the boy next door sort of way. Obviously he was a bit of a nerd--otherwise the bully wouldn't have been pestering him about Othello. Biting her lip, she looked over his shoulder. The other boy wasn't there yet. "Listen, my apartment is two blocks away. Why don't you come with me and you can rest there? Ok?" She gave him a faint smile before taking his arm and walking rather briskly away from the alley.

"So who was that guy? Why was he picking on you?"

Holy shit this chick wanted to take me to her apartment! I would have settled with a bus bench, but her apartment. HER APARTMENT!! Wait, beautiful woman like her don't ask guys like me back to her apartment. Luke must have beaten me to Candy Land. Well best to make the most out of this concussion induced dream. “ Sure your apartment, will do nicely.”

“ That guy back there was Luke Hartell. He was pissed at me because instead of writing a report on Othello for him. I wrote it on Batman. Our English teacher wasn't very pleased with over that.”

Lulu scoffed, shaking her head. "He makes you write his reports for him? And when you don't he kicks the crap out of you?" She sighed. What was this world coming to? Bullying was getting way too out of control. "Well, good thing I was there. You almost ran into me, which is why I noticed you." They walked the rest of the way in silence, Lulu's arm in his to help him walk.

When they got to her apartment, she let him inside and sat him on the couch. She tossed her bag next to him and grabbed a pack of ice from the freezer. "Here. Put it where it hurts," She said, handing it to him. She sat on the coffee table in front of him and looked him over. "How old are you? You look so young."

“Well I don't really have much of choice in matter. My school cares more about its athletic programs then the academics. So one of us that actual have future, are stuck doing there work. Sorry about running into, I kinda had other things on my mind” Even for a dream, she seemed truly concerned. Then she held my arm, it was so soft and warm.

Eventually they made it to her apartment, and it was just like clothes. Everything seemed to gel, to give the apartment more life. This is the first time one of my dream girls had a fashion sense, kinda strange but whatever. Sitting down I notice the calculus textbook that slipped out of her tossed bag.

Taking the ice bag from her hands, I placed it under my sore ribs. “Thank you Lulu, and am 18”

“So whats your major?”

Lulu sighed at his predicament. She wasn't much for academics or athletics. She was a theater kid, and artist, a musician. Anything where she could be creative. But when it came to sports or books, she was dumbfounded. But her recent experiences in high school were fresh in her mind. The nerds got picked on, the jocks ruled the school, and as long as they were getting trophy's the teachers didn't care. Dylan probably had it rough. She gave him a sympathetic smile.

"Hm?" She looked over at her bag and noticed the text book. "Oh." She rolled her eyes. "I'm studying fashion design. But my dictator, fascist, bastardo of a councilor thinks I need to take calculus. Voy a empujar este libro por el culo, si no tiene cuidado." She stood. "Did you want something to drink? I have apple juice and...well, you're too young to have a beer, aren't you?"

While Dylan was an honour roll student, he never tried to pick up another language. But it was quite clear that it wasn't anything good. “While if you use linear derivatives, you could predict how the material would fall when person wears it.” He swallowed hard after that statement. People hated when he said there wrong. “I wouldn't mind a beer, it should help with the pain.”

Lulu looked at Dylan, an amused look on her face. She chuckled and shook her head. "I have no idea what you just said. But if you know something about calculus, I would love it if you tutored me." Normally she wasn't one for underage drinking, but considering he was having a rough day, she decided to make an exception. She nodded and went to the kitchen, grabbing two beers. She also grabbed some Spanish Bread for him to eat. She handed him the beer and sat down next to him.

"Here, eat this. It's like...sweet bread. It's really good." She ran her fingers through her hair and smiled at him. "Are you sure you're ok? You don't need medical attention?"

Dylan cracked the beer with his free and took a quick sip. He never drunk before but then this was day of firsts. The beer tasted quite bitter to him. Making him reach out for the like-sweet bread. He grabbed small piece of the bread and took bite of it. It was quite good, but when he swallowed pain shot throughout his poor ribs causing him to scream. He hobbled over himself desperately trying to catch his breath.

Lulu gasped as he screamed out in pain, practically dropping her beer. She grabbed his arms, trying to hold him steady. "Dylan?" She shook her head. "That's it. We're taking you to the hospital. Obviously, something's wrong." She stood and grabbed her bag before helping him to his feet. "Come on. We'll take my car. Gas is pricey, but this is worth it." She helped him down to the parking garage and helped him into her car, ignoring his protests. Once her mind was set on something, Lulu didn't change it. She hopped into the car and started off.

Unable to breath properly, Dylan found it hard to understand what was going on. One second he was on the couch, the next in car racing off somewhere. Then things were just blurry, then black.

Dylan came to, with the help of an oxygen mask. Finally able to breath, he could see that he was at a hospital. The dream of drinking alone with a beautiful fashion student now gone. “Who am I kidding? A girl like Lulu would never give guy like me a chance.” He sat in the small triage room, sulking over his lost dream.

Lulu nodded at the doctor's words. It was only a cracked rib, nothing too serious. They had put him in a brace and he would be able to go home a few hours after he woke up. Bed rest was the best thing for him now. Sighing, Lulu walked back into his hospital room, hugging herself. She gasped when she looked up at him and saw his eyes open. "Dylan!" She rushed over to his bed, grinning. "Thank god! You passed out. I was so scared." She found herself cupping his face in her hands.

Letting him go, she sat down next to him on his bed and she grabbed his hand. "How are you feeling?

Dylan was shocked to see Lulu. Even more when she held his face. She sat down near the bed waiting for something. He was so taken off guard that he didn't hear what she had said.

“Ummm...Lulu your real?”

Lulu blinked at his question before laughing. She shook her head in disbelief. "What? Of course I'm real. Who do you think saved you from that block-headed bully? Who do you think drove you here?" She touched his forehead, seeing if he had a fever. "Did you bump your head as well?" She smiled.

"The doctor says you cracked a rib, but nothing a few days of bed rest won't fix. I can take you home in a few hours. By the way, did you need me to call anyone for you? Your parents...guardians? Are you living at home?"

"My parents are out of town for another week. So theres no one to really call" Dylan said sadly, looking at his feet. His parents were wealthy and often went on trips leaving him alone for extend periods of time. “I like it if you drove me home”

Lulu nodded when he explained his parents were out of town. "Alright, no problem. I'd love to give you a ride." She smiled. "Though, I doubt the doctors would want you to be by yourself." She bit her lip. "I know it's weird, because we just met and I don't want you thinking I'm a psycho or a stalker or anything. But I should probably stay with you. At least for a night, so I know you're ok. If you pass out, there won't be anyone there to rescue you." She gave him a small smile. "Do you mind?"

He returned Lulu's smile. Dylan would happily spend the night with woman like her. For all he knew it may be his last and only chance. “I would love for you to stay with me for the night. No I don't think your some kind of psycho for offering. In fact your one kindest person I've ever met.”

Lulu was surprised by his comment. Sure, she was nice, but no one had ever said something like that to her before. She smiled shyly at him, lowering her gaze. "No, I'm not that great." She shrugged.

After several more hours, Dylan was allowed to leave. He was given pain medication and a number of different pamphlets, and instructed to stay in bed. Lulu helped him to the car. "We just need to stop by my place real quick so I can pick up a few things." She got into the driver's side and smiled at him. "Doing ok, so far?"
