make a profile and understand this site

I’ve only ever read stories and listened to audios on here. But I finally decided to create a profile! I’ve only ever used Tumblr… so i’m having a hard time understanding this site.

Do changes/updates to your profile (profile picture, bio, etc.) have to be approved before it updates? Can people see all my activity or is there a way to filter what people can view? Help… i’m clueless *Also I don’t really know if i’m using the correct thread? oops*

It's all a rather confusing.
Changes to your profile don't need to be approved, but they may not show up absolutely instantly.
People can see what you post and like by following you. Not sure if there is any way to stop people following you.
You can make your profile private if you don't want people being able to view your profile.
The profile on the forum here does not quite match the profile on the stories/chat sections.
The approving of stories that you publish would probably be better explained by someone else.
Hope this helps and happy if anyone wants to correct my understanding of how the site allegedly works
