This is just a random thread idea I had, one for a group thread. I would say starting out with four would be good, and maybe letting more come in if they want. Just depends on how well this is liked. This will be an alternate universe superhero thread.
The basic concept is that Magneto has built a machine on his mutant island fortress which has the ability to rip open the fabric of reality into other dimensions. A group of super heroes in the employ of S.H.I.E.L.D. have been constantly thwarting his plans when the X-Men aren't, and he is fed up with the recent turn of events. Send a false message that he plans on surrendering himself for the final time, he tricks the group into throwing themselves into the portal.
The super heroes find themselves stranded in a world where Apocalypse rules from the shadows of a giant organization called Cerberus. All the capital cities have been turned into control points for Cerberus, protected by Sentinels. Nearly all mutants serve Cerberus, including the X-Men. S.H.E.I.L.D. exists, but only because Apocalypse finds it amusing to have a semi-worthy opponent to challenge his rule from time to time.
The heroes appear in the world a year after a semi-successful assault by S.H.E.I.L.D. to take out the main sentinel factory in New York City. The factory was destroyed, but it was at the cost of Thor, Iron Man, Punisher, and Captain America. The only survivor was Wolverine, who went into a coma after suffering massive damage from the radiation which was released by the blast. This led to a world-wide lock-down by Apocalypse on all weapons being sold on all markets. War broke out as humanity and S.H.E.I.L.D tried to take a more aggressive stance to get rid of Apocalypse.
Feel free to use currently known heroes, or make up your own. If you make up your own, try to limit to no more than two or three powers. Post or pm if interested.
