Maryland is for lovers?

Hey SG,

He was syndicated on the radio during the 1970s, which is when I remember him from. I used to listen to Paul Harvey on WOR in New York and I think he was on in the evenings sometime around when WOR aired the CBS Radio Mystery Theater, which I used to listen to as I did my homework. What is wild is that you can find all of the old CBS RMTs either on the Internet Archive, or on YouTube -- and a lot of them were recorded off the air, mostly from WOR in New York, and WFAA in Dallas. Some of them have the original commercials and top of the hour news reports, including some talking about Watergate, some talking about the 1976 presidential campaign, and so they are fascinating time capsules.

With Paul Harvey, I always liked his "rest of the story" 2 or 3 minute segments. This is the one that I remember about Elvis:

Thanks for the link. It sounded just like I remembered.

We are the joy boys of radio. We chase electrons to and thro

My parents listen them. I was real little but I still remember lyrics something like those above. I remember WINX. The WINX wabblers came to my school and played donkey basketball against the teachers. I doubt they do those kinds of things anymore. I had forgotten all about WINX. I remember WPGC when it played Top 40 and the Grease Man and Howard Stern on DC 101

I could go for a good makeout session in the back of the car again. Fond memories of growing up.
WPGC...I forgot about that station.

I had forgotten about that slogan. I remember one summer there was a station that was giving away Endless Summer posters. I can't count how many times I called in but never won.

Yeah ... my introduction to radio was through my Dad who had a fondness for talk radio shows back in the day. He introduced me to Jean Shepherd who had a nightly radio show on WOR when I was in middle school, and I would listen to him as I did my homework. This was way before "A Christmas Story .." became a movie. He had great stories about his life experiences, and gave me an appreciation for radio over television.

That is a funny movie. I cannot think of any shows on American TV that I watch anymore. Everything has just gotten too political for me. I mainly watch the Korean dramas nowadays but I could listen to some old time radio shows.

Last time I was up in Philly was a few years back at a beer festival. I am guessing a tattoo convention is different artists displaying their work and you can get a tattoo there?

We are heading up to Dallastown, PA tonight to meet 2 other couples for dinner & drinks. This is going to feel weird ... going out in public ... with people.

Yes, there are going lots of artists. We’ve never been before, plus the wife has been thinking about getting one.

She thinking anyplace interesting for that tattoo? I have been told this one young woman I know has a tattoo that reads

"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good" tattooed across her lower abdomen. Have not seen it myself.

She thought of a hand on each side that said “hold here” or a pair of lips on the ass cheek

Hey Slugger, that's a start -- good practice for heading to Orioles games topless -- if they ever play baseball this season!
Not particularly interested in going to the city or to watch the O's. That is a miserable situation ... and I am clearly old enough to remember bad teams. Regardless, having her topless makes everything better.

Not even remotely close. At least my wife did ride topless to and from the restaurant.
I am thinking of something like a parade route, where we can line the streets and watch as Slugger's wife goes by topless and we all can cheer. I could definitely go for seeing a topless female. We all need something something good with the world in a mess right now.

I wonder if there will be a baseball season this year? I have not followed their dispute so I am not sure what both sides are fighting about. Seems like both sides were making a lot of money under the old contract so not sure why either side would be unhappy.

Part of the dispute is get more money for minor leaguers. They get paid crap while the big stars get obscene amounts of money. I'd like to see salary caps like the NFL for more league parity. Dodger, Yankees and other rich teams plunder smart market teams and I think makes for an overall less exciting product.

Yeah, it definitively makes it harder for small market teams like Baltimore to be competitive though I think Bmore has ownership issues too. I don't watch sports too much anymore. Between the politics and the obscene amount of money the top players get I have just lost interest. I went to a "Redskins" pre-season game a few years back and it was ridiculous. Parking was crazy expensive, the view from the seats was obstructed, the food was expensive and terrible. It was just a bad experience any which way I looked at it. Will never do that again. The Nationals is a better experience but still way too expensive. I do watch the LPGA but that is because I like to see attractive women.
