What kind of Democrat are you

Okay, then, if you're talking to me, I already PUT THAT DRESS ON to get it out of the way since so many wanted to see me in it. I DO have great legs. All the kicking...

This thread is about you. I want to understand. Have a dialog. Why is it Democrats will talk to every thug on the face of the earth (Mrs. Edwards) but will not talk to their fellow citizens? I don't think you guys want to have a dialog and I don't think ANY of you can tell me why you are a Democrat short of my one lone honest reply so far.
Ok I'll tell you what.
I will be back in a bit and I will discuss it in great detail.

Join the army, meet interesting people, kill them.

Naturally, the common people don't want war but after all it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country.

Dissagree 100%

Democratically elected leaders do not start wars it is the quickest way to lose power, witness current events. Rand was right, it is the mob who starts wars and the politicians and press just try to steer (pun intended) the mob and acceed to its wishes in order to retain power. The only way to get the people to do the bidding of the leaders is to turn the guns on them, that did not happen here. If more Democrats would have stayed true to their nature instead of getting emotional after 9-11, Bush would NEVER had dared go into Iraq, he was spurred on by all the Democrats trying to prove they were Rambo in election years. It's not an election year, so they've gone wobbly.

Only in theory. Learned journals will point out that the only way we can deal with complexity IS labels...
Stop saying learned journals when you mean the neocon bible or straight from the pages of Commentary magazine. Same thing.
Oh and a name is a label, and as soon as there is a label, the ideas disappear and out comes label-worship and label-bashing, and instead of living by a theme of ideas, people begin dying for labels... and the last thing the world needs is another religion.

I'll probably be gone and I don't stray much from page one anymore, so I'll probably never read it; don't waste your time, you've been a delight though.

I was thinking more along the lines of SciAm. I read news, rarely commentary any more. They can say whatever they want and don't have to defend it, which is why I have taken to listening to talk radio.

Because I believe in America, not the new world order.

I believe in the workers who made and continue to make America great, not the investors and bosses who are forever trying to cut corners with cheap labor and at the cost of safety, quality and any concern for their fellow neighbor's well being.

I believe in the concept of one law for all races, genders, religions and sexual preferences, not the Republican apartheid where the hated-ethnicity-du-jour gets profiled and chased around like suspected criminals.

I believe in privacy and their absolute dominance over corporate self-declared rights to buy and sell information about citizens without any say by the citizens, or the citizens having any rights to compensation.

I believe in personal responsibility, a concept utterly lost on the sociopathic institution of corporate America, which is always seeking to make others foot the bill for corporations' mistakes.

I'm a liberal because I stand for common sense and what's right.

Republicans are what they are because they are desperately seeking a way to look like men, and they're utterly selfish at the expense of everything around them. They have absolutely no moral compass and view everyone around them as an exploitable commodity or a disposable piece of debris.

I am an American.

Putting a label on yourself and confining yourself to a box no matter how bad that group you associate yourself with screws up, talking pride in and promoting failure only makes you look stupid. You can denounce the lies and failure of the Iraqi occupation for example and not be connected with Any political party.

Political philosophy...

Altruism is good, no?

In a worker's paradise, we get benefits, housing, and enjoy the gifts of the great leader.

Did you enjoy your hare?

Great Leader is eating harem!

The dear leader cares about our diet. He sees to it personally we have a good diet, and even went to Germany to see about breeding giant hares to feed us all.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6865800

then after we have our hares, we enjoy going to the fun park and going into the square to give flowers to thank our leader. Music fills the air, and the imperalists have nothing on this paradise...

Aye, how does he feed us all on one sack of rice? Take a grain and pass it on, let the music fill you up? Hungry? PIG!!!! Eat the barrel of my AK-47...

One sack of rice? The fields are overflowing with rice, corn and other goodies. We all sing songs of joy as we reap the harvests to the storehouse. The bags of rice are more than enough for everybody, and there is so much rice, we do not need to rely on anybody from the outside. The self-reliance principal is all we need. The AK-47's are there to protect us from the imperalists who want to come inside and change the paradise we all worked so hard for...

The sunshine policy works wonders. That was the great insights of the Great Leader too.

Our Great Leader has provided such wonderful health care, when we get sick all we have to do is tell somebody about it and then we are free to get back to work.
