A person's love for a dodgy car is one of the most beautiful things in life. I had a car once - also given to me for free - that really did not have most of the things it needed to be a car. Its name was Hugo. The windows wouldn't open, there was no antenna, the fabric lining of the roof was held up with pushpins, the trunk was jammed shut - could have been a body in there for all I knew, it never opened in the time I owned it - and you needed a pair of pliers, kept in the glovebox, to release the parking brake. It was also a vast boat of a thing that was near-impossible to park and guzzled gasoline. But it had a lovely personality. It tried very hard to please, it always started easily, and the only time it ever broke down wasn't its fault - tire people put the new tire on wrong and it deflated - and it happened on a Sunday, in my driveway.

Now the White Beast ... that car I would have dynamited if I could have. It had a habit of eating its alternator belt, and its warning lights worked intermittently - which meant that it would occasionally just stop moving whereever it happened to be. At least once, this was past midnight on a rural highway miles from aid. Bastard car.

All of our cars were called Kate. So far, I'm up to Kate 6 - A silver Vauxhall Corsa.

Why? Because Kate is my favourite, most favourite female name in the whole world. If I'd had a daughter, or two, they'd both have been called Kate. Tricky.

:)

So you subscribe to the George Foreman method then? All his children are called George, even the girls.

Not to be confused with George Formby the inventor of the George Formby Grill. Look it up on' T'internet.

Get LoLo a Wifi card, and your broadband an access point, and you can post from anywhere in the house.

And that is soooo much better than being stuck sitting in the computer chair. Reclining on the couch is quite comfy. :)

I do all of my writing and nearly all of my work from a recliner. A tasteful one with lovely wooden arms, I hasten to add, and not a massive plush monstrosity. It is extremely comfortable and I'm beginning to wonder why I ever bought the desk, which is very rarely used. When I want more space than the lapdesk on which the laptop sits, I usually want enough to go to the dining room table.

oooo .... not "yet" .... sounds like hubby is in for an upgrade soon .. install some new parts ?

well I don't know. I'm quite happy with the hubby model I've got....

or do you mean the laptop?*L*

My computer is called Max - I believe he came with that name, Millennium Max way back in 2001.

My car is Hildy. Had to be a German name for a VW, and I'm a big fan of Walter and Hildy in "His Girl Friday" with Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell.

I need to get a lapdesk of some kind. I don't like leaving the latptop in my actual lap for very long because I am afraid it will overheat.

I've really enjoyed having it. For some reason, I can't seem to sit back against the chair at my desk, so my back ends up hurting.

I often sit with mylaptop rested on the arm of the sofa. I rarely sit it in my lap...and then i have it on a cushion.

I have a very nice, very thin and light lap desk from Levenger's. I highly recommend it.
