Michigan Roll Call

Say it's going to rain tomorrow....figures. Big car cruise tomorrow pretty much right past my house, lots of people coming over. PLEASE DON'T RAIN

Hot and humid. Supposed to rain today; hope it holds off--she set up a portrait shoot in a park for this afternoon.

Heading to Louisville on business until Wednesday. Don't you just love when they tell you at 4:00 Wed. afternoon that you have to be someplace on Sunday for a week? I'm getting too old to be a Road Warrior...but at least I'm not standing in the unemployment line. Been there, done that, didn't like it, didn't buy the T-shirt, don't wanna go back.

Well, maybe I'll get lucky and we'll be rained out...
The whole thing was her idea, and she's even bringing the dog...

Lots of negative national news on Michigan this week... Hear about the young teen killed in Armada on the bike trail?! Although I don't live near there I'm always on the trails... Makes me feel ebbee-jebbee!

And there is the 16 year old in Roseville from a car crash....She is from St Clair Shores and my kids knew her. One is going to the funeral tomorrow :(

Anyone else notice the fireflies are back?

When I was a kid, they were everywhere. Every night during the summer we used to catch them and put them in jars with holes in the lid, thinking in our childish naivete that that would be enough to keep them alive forever.

Then they want away. I haven't seen or noticed them for many years. I regularly go out to a friend's house and have a campfire in his back 1/2 acre, and they've never appeared. Until now.

Suddenly, they're back. I loved fireflies as a kid, and now they're all over the place again.

Did I just not notice them, or have they really reappeared?

Wow, I haven't seen any here, but am glad to hear they are back somewhere. I will keep my eyes peeled.

And yes, we did the same thing -- putting them in jars with holes in the lids. They always went dark relatively quickly. What a shame.

Thanks for the evocative memories.

With family and a lot of friends still living in Michigan, I tend to see what's happening up that way on Facebook. I couldn't believe the story from a few weeks back where an Inkster man killed 2 children (one being a 2 y/o) and an adult. Police later found out he shot the 2 y/o in front of the man, killing her first as revenge. People are fucking sick!
