It's been good. I've spent most of it working in the garden.

The thing is, in this case, she requested it! I was disbelieving when she told me, but she was smiling and happy about her great new dishwasher.

Yes, it does seem odd today--like something out of a '50s sitcom. My longtime ex was a fabulous cook (she's worked as a chef at times). She used a lot of dishes when cooking, and I washed'em all. The food was well worth it, though.

My personal thought would be that if it was what she requested then it would seem to be what she in fact wanted so it should make her happier than anything I would think of.

Someone I know at work, a really great woman, asked her husband for a new dishwasher as a gift. Now, to me, this seems a bit impersonal, but my acquaintance is thrilled with her present.

So: Household appliances as gifts. Thoughtful? Or knell of doom? Discuss.

Hey if it works for her whatever. My dad got my mom a funnel once for christmas lol.
