Multiple projects

[IWroteThis]

Your thread prompted me to review my rather lengthy list of projects. It's past time to clear it out a bit by moving things I haven't touched in six months into the Inactive WiP folder. One of the first ones I opened was actually a completed draft that I missed moving into the editing queue. Oops!

I will say, finding a completed draft I had forgotten about was a rather pleasant surprise.

Do you have multiple stories that you are working on?

Typically yes. All in different states from a brief outline, to something half written, to something in beta-reading. It helps to do something else when wondering how to continue a WIP.

I have four or five incomplete works. I am trying desperately to finish them, but one of them is an enormous story that I pick at when I'm bored, and some are very niche works that are hard to work on.

I started it because I challenged myself to write stories in categories I hadn't written before.

You should join Survivor 2026!

The challenge is to write in every category!

You can retroactively score all the stories you’ve already published this year…

Wasn't aware of that challenge. I think it'll take a few months to understand the rules.

Maybe next year.

I should add that the categories I have planned do not exactly match Lit's:

And there are a bunch of Lit categories that I simply cannot imagine myself writing in.

It is with great surprise that I’m learning Lit has a Historic category.
