My red 'H' rating went down, why?

Total newbie so be gentle, please.

I was excited to see the red 'H' appear on my story after one day but I noticed that the red 'H' disappeared & my rating went down, why?

I would guess that more readers read with lower ratings?

Even I will admit it was a long & poorly formatted story but the elements were 'hot'! Oh well, my the bubble burst. I can make through doorways again

After re-review of the FAQ's, I concluded my guess was right: The red H's () denote stories which have received 10 or more votes from readers, and maintain an average vote of 4.5 out of 5 or better. 'Maintain' being the key word. My ego swelled for a day.

Probably best I got knocked down a couple notches. I originally wrote the story for my Dom in chat. I didn't spend alot of time reformating & editing. I will try again to earn that red 'H'!

Your story is new, so the ratings will go up and down. A 4.00 is really good in my book. I really wouldn't fret over it, as it really depends on your readers. I know that I've had some of my stories with H, and then lose it and then gain it back.

And sometimes, even the hottest, flawless-written stories will not get the H ratings. I'm personally surprised at which ones got the above 4.45 and which are not (at least with mine and those I've read), but then again, your kilometrage may vary.
