Sure thing, Pops, but where's 'here'? Maybe to you the answer is 'England', but to me it's a part of the West Riding (which those buggers down south decided to re-designate 'West Yorkshire', destroying part of my heritage), or part of Europe, or part of the World - depending on context. What I've noticed is that lately, contexts in which I think of 'here' as part of either England or the UK have become increasingly rare.pop_54 said:<snip>people that should really fuck off if they don't like it here<snip>

My local authority thought I was worth appointing to a teaching post in our local college. My national government changed the rules and destroyed my role and those of a number of colleagues. So now I drive wagons. I may be being conceited, but based on comments some of them have made, I think the kids 'here' lost out.

When I joined, 'service to the patient' was the single best turn-on (within work) for almost every NHS employee, from matron down to ward maid, porter and laundry worker. My job was Work Study (aka 'time and motion'), but when I explained that what I was doing would free up time to improve patient care, then I was actually welcomed.pop_54 said:... Now, this particular question I can answer. When you see that this man was propelling himself well over two and a half metres (8 feet) in the air to get over that bar it's enough to make anyone feel giddy.Liar said:... My question still stands though: Was it just indoctrination that made me all giddy when the Swede Stefan Holm won the High Jump gold a few days ago? ...
The fact that he is the shortest guy in the field, a Frodo among high jumpers makes it kind of cool too.snooper said:Now, this particular question I can answer.
