How about the cop he bumps into was one of his parents partners? *And I do beleive that there is a rule that married couple cops cannot be partners, too much at stake or something like that.* So the former partner tries to look out for YOU.
That way, you have a pat explination for why the cops never seem to be able to track you down, if you want to be of the vigilanty bent, cause this former partner of your parents covers up for you?
Thinking more about HAVOC, I would love to see it put Nathen in one of those arcade *x-men* death traps. I could see several nostalgic send ups in it. Stick him in a pac-manesque maze, have him struggle to get to the top of a q-bert piramid, make him slug a spoof of mario in the face... You know, fun stuff. LOL! Vinnio, the french italian. Oh ho ho. But eets-ah me, Vinnio! *CRUNCH!*
Yes I agree that someone somewhere will view you as evil no matter what. But like I said in DC and Marvel the US government is damn near a first teir villian. It goes Darksied/Apocalypse, Magneto/Mr.Sinister/Lex Luthor/Gorilla Grodd, US Government, Joker, Sabretooth.
Never once are they shown as being justified. Hell I'd be satisfied if during a battle against the Brotherhood of Evil Mutant the Sentinels were deployed to aid the X-men and X-factor.
Anyway to that those ends I introduce.
Name: Brandon Long
Occupation: Detective
Personality: A staunch supporter of the United States and most things conservative he was drafted into the Marines during the Vietnam Conflict at 17 and served out twenty years before receiving an honorable discharge. He has a large Eagle, Globe and Anchor tattoo on his left shoulder and a hell hound on his right forearm, which is why he normally wears long sleeved shirts. He became a cop after that and quickly rose to the rank of detective.
He is corrupt in the sense that he will often let small timers get by with a bribe or a threat, but that is mostly so he can catch the higher ups and not because he has any use for the money. He doesn't hate mutants but he does feel that it is important that their powers be documented and tested since many (I assume you havn't really detailed what it means to be a mutant yet) are the equivalent of being armed with a firearm and some are stronger than that and the means to defend ourselves against them are promised via the 2nd amendment (his interpretation of it at any rate)
Okay we need a little more information about the world in general here so questions
1. What is the city named and where (about is it? I mean we "know" Metropolis=New York and it is usually assumed that Gotham is Chicago or Detroit or something else in the eastern US. '
Is it relatively safe like Metropolis or is it Gotham where walking home after dark could qualify as an extreme sport?
2. How effective are the police, agai is it like Metropolis where they can handle the average stuff pretty well. Even the average crazy but when you can chew up quarters and shit bullets that they are in over their heads.
How about a supporting character that was formerly a high paid MD, but Nathan exposed him for performing some sort of illegal proceedure. Say, he was responcible for leaving Malcolm crippled The guy is an excellent doctor, though, so, as Knight-Crowe, Nathen goes to him for treatments.
There could be a very gritty relationship between the two. The discredited Dr. fixes Crowe up, but will set bones, and pop dislocated shoulders back into place in almost a sadistic manner, but leaves Crowe none the worse for wear.
Jack Jordan
AKA: The Swiss Knife Killer
Appearance: thin wiry guy who's stronger than he looks
Jack was a gang member, and the best knife fighter in the city. He enjoyed his reputation and the fear that ran through his opponents/victims when he would whip out his switch blade. One day, he suddenly manifested his telepathic and empathic powers. The onslaught of thoughts and emotions quickly pushed him over the edge and he went crazy, killing off most of his gang. He seized on the fear that he so enjoyed, calming him some.
He now stalks people, kidnaps them, and kills them slowly with a swiss army knife, using all of it's tools to maximum effect. He can now control his reception of emotions and thoughts, but is still quite mad. He uses his powers to feed his addiction to fear, and detect and evade the police.
Would be interesting if he killed Disciple's family, giving Knight Crowe and Disciple a common cause.
Well for what ever reason I am going to take other peoples thoughts and run wild with them, thats how I brain storm I guess. Hopefully I won't butcher any ones ideas.
First on mutants normally this is a catch all group, so far all the characters including disciple can be explained as a mental power. Why not focus on some single part of the brain being different then entire bodies.
I like growing plots that take time to figure out.
1
Any how, Big Shot seems like the kingpen of marvel. I suggest two things, first make him a lower "made man" so he's up in power but not at the top. He should then act as a patron for Knight and give him tips on catching other "Made men" until he is the top man. The growth and abuse of the hero make him different.
2
I like havoc as a filler and an arch villain but can't see him as both. So to that end I suggest the fallowing needlessly complex idea.
Eliza "Liz" Black
About a year younger then Bethany, she has a less goth personality. She has an obvious crush on Crowe, (not obvious to him at first.) She also has a latent power chemical control of her body. (Adrinoline, pain killers, hormones, etc.)
Late in first season HAVOC takes the two in an scheme. Uses nano bots to mind control them and adds two things his own relentless ability to adapt and those connected can share powers. (Takes time to switch powers and only one at a time.)
Knight stops the mind control. While Knight removes the nanos from Bethany, Eliza fears, Knight will love Bethany and not herself. Bad brain wiring kicks in and she goes after her sister. Knight intervenes and Eliza escapes.
This leaves her in a crazy stalker logic world. She can act out to impress him, attack with "if I can't have him no one will," and of coarse blow up the banks because he visits them once a week.
I was actually thinking more based on Rupert Thorne. You might be on to something about having a lower ranked person as the more visible face and have "the man" as sort of an entity.
I've always felt that once your city gets beyond X size there just has to be a Kingpin. He might Kingpin, or Lex Luthor, or Slade (Deathstroke). He might be split into a few guys like Rolland Dagget and Rupert Thorne but there has to be a guy that is really the man that is behind everything.
I've seen the kingpen type before. I've never seen a kingpen made though. Basicly in my scenorio Bigshot takes out the kingpen. It may seem like a good thing but in truth a worse villian gains the reigns of power. Kind of like losing Lenin for Stalin.
1) The City is Called Darwin Valley, it's completely fictional and even though i've used it for years, i've never ever thought about where it is....
Safety wise it's roughly comes somehwere between metropolis and Gotham, and more or less say its more like Midway/Central or Star City
2) Its your average poluice force...i'd say gotham like capabilities...
3) Technological Norm is more or less a slight bit further than we currently are, though there are rare cases of advanced tech, but its kept away from the public...
4) What is a TCBY?
NEXT...
I usually flesh out the characters a bit more anyway...
I like all the characters I've being offered so far...
Keep it up, Its getting good now, i'm having to choose which things i want in first volumes and whichj i want to say, which is good, cos its better than saying, that i've only got enough for one volume lol.
I'll go you a step further, Cats... What if Eliza Black is Bethany's own WORST FEAR come to life? So, she used her power on herself without even knowing it?
And you know, I was going to say Big Shot sounded an awful lot like the Kingpin...
I agree that he would be more interesting and fresh if he were a lesser figure that poses as an informant to Knight, only to turn on him once he attained the power he was out for all along. I dig that. Tangled webs and deceptions. I wanna subscribe to this comic already. Damn it!
Darwin Valley, thats a really cool name. Makes me think that the place is the cradle of evolution, or something. LOL!
The
Country's
Best
Yogurt
HAVOC must have invented it... Along with IHOP!
NiteCrowe, I've a rash of questions.
You're doing the whole comic by yourself? Art AND script and all?
Is this going to be a completely independant effort, or are you going to approach some company to help you publish?
Have you done any sketches or thumbnails of anything yet?
Big Shot was designed around the Kingpin Archtype, I'm more than willing to negotiate.
Making him into an informant though is arguably better for what I wanted him to be charachter wise which is a real manipulator. From there as long as most of his information pays out or at least is reasonably close they'll probably keep using him and then he can turn at least the major gangs, the police and Crow against each other. Works for me.
Do we already have gangs set up in the city (Gotta be honest I hate the name)
Carl is a third generation police officer, on both sides of his family. He is the first in his family to join SWAT. He has the ability to achieve "moments of perfect clarity" (if you've ever seen Star Trek: Insurrection, kind of like that) where time seems to come to a crawl and he is aware of everything around him. Basically, he takes one fraction of a second, and stretches it to 12 seconds while becoming hyper-aware of his surroundings. This makes him the best sniper around. He must be relatively calm in order to enter this state. He cannot be emotionally agitated.
1) At the moment i'm not sure if its going to be an actual comic, or a set of stories with the rare occasional picture.
The reason for this is that I'm a writer, and though i can draw, i'm not confident enough in myself to actually do the drawings, thus it will most likely be a set of stories as i can never seem to find an artist.
Though i would like it be be comic.
Apart from that i've being doing a bit of brainstorming, and have come up with a few points ect ect.
The first Story/issue/whatever will pit Knight-Crowe against Disciple. At this stage it will appear as if Crowe has being active for a while.
The second, will begin with Crowe getting badly hurt, and visiting Dr. Taunt (Sorry, but i love the name) and thus Taunts background with Crowe is revealed in flashbacks.
A later installment will have Crowe explaining to Det. Long (His father's former partner) how he came to be KNIGHT CROWE
Other story Arcs i have planned are The First Havoc story, which will be a 2parter...A later Havoc Story (1 off)...as well as a 1 off Beth Black, and the 2 parter which will combine the three (Havoc and the black sisters)
Another story will team the Government up with Crowe as they once again go after Disciple.
They are the only stories i have planned so far, I intend to use the other chars...and more if you keep using them, as the odd Villian to punctuate the Whole Storyline.
I have decided that in the first volume that the only recurring villians will be Disciple, Havoc and Treymayne... True Beth Black will be in more than one, but i intend to use her as a possible support character for later (and maybe a love interest for Crow's Brother).
Here is my episode list so far...
>The Knight and the Disciple (Need I explain?)
>Dr Taunt (Already Explained)
>Nightmares (Bethany Black)
[2 or 3 other stories here]
> Havoc // The Testing (2-Parter)
[2 or 3 other stories here]
> Origins (The Detective Long one i mentioned)
> Experiments (My Secretly planned 1off Havoc story)
[2 or 3 other stories here]
> The Sister // Chemical Havoc (The 2 parter end of volume, featuring Eliza Black)
I'm not sure, whom i will use to fill the gaps, though i think i may use Excalibur and Jack Jordan.
Treymayne will be featured in Dr. Taunt and Origins.
Also i think i may save the sniper for another volume.
Okay...I now think i have enough support chars...I now need Villians to fill the gaps lol.
Real Name: Damian Broady
Alias: Legion, Chaos, The Priest, The Demon
Personality: Damian Broady is a self medicating bi-polar, multiple personality sufferer. He has no less than a dozen documented personalities but the three most prominant are Samael, a self proclaimed demon and enemy of God, his favorite crimes involve cruely torturing the clergy and challenging them to summon their lord. Torquamada, a religious fanatic who often quotes scripture during his crimes which involve striking down those he views as wicked. Murderers, gangmembers, pimps, prostitutes, gays, actors. The final is identified as Sara, she remembers being raped by her father *despite the fact that she isn't real*
Damian believes that he is possessed by the spirits of these dead people. His various drug addictions only make that artificial reality even more real to him.
(I haven't worked out outfits foe each of them but I want Torquemada and Samael to be visibly different.)
He has gradually come to count on these personalities to keep him safe and supply for his habit and is practiced in magic to summon them up. (Early on he won't know how to summon who he wants, isntead he'll just get who he gets.) It's not really magic, it's a his multiple personality syndrom combined with self induced hypnosis (the ceremonies he uses to summon these charachters up) and being on drugs (The various incense he burns eats, and drinks)
In a fight, if he has any choice in the matter he'll be Samael, the particular combination of drugs he uses to bring about Samael makes him super strong, nearly unable to feel pain and incredibly agressive. (Think PCP + Steriods. This guy isn't tossing cars around or anything like that.) He's prone to over extending himself in this form, just because he can't feel his arm doesn't mean it's not broken. He hates guns and prefers to fight as close to his opponent as possible because he gets a rush off of actually feeling his opponent struggling, bleeding and dying, something a gun doesn't give.
Torquamada on the other hand is incredible calm and avoids direct combat prefering to set traps or use sniping weapons. His thinking is very abstract occasionally making for plans that even he doesn't understand. He's been known to show surprise at the long reaching effects of some of his plans, or occasionally to have set up entire scenarios only to have forgotten them by the time they become relevant.
I can probably flesh him out further given some time and maybe a bit of constructive criticism on him. I want him to believe it's magic, and for many people around him to be convinced as well. I kinda got this idea by extrapolating a weird sort of Two-face, Green Goblin, Scarface hybrid and you're being adaman about no magic made me want to do it too, just the defiant part in me.
I think at first he'll be a simply sufferer of MPD, but he later is victim to something which changes his appearance for each personality.... I'm thinking that he injects himself with some of disciple's blood or something similar lol.
