Ugh! Whe in their right mind designed the Navy uniforms?

Gay Bell bottoms dungarees with a pusedo denim cotton blue shirt and the worst cover ever...for everyday wear.

And white on freakin white for dress? Idiots!

According to one sailor I talked to, the uniforms are supposedly very practical for use in the water. Basically, the pants and hat are made from a very tight water-resistant weave, so if you have to go overboard, you invert the hat and use it as a float (it will hold air under it for limited periods of time) and kick off your pants, tying the legs to themselves to make a make-shift flotation device.

And yeah, it looks goofy as shit. I like to joke that they're getting camos so they can blend in with the ship in a fight. (Incidentally, the new Air Force camos look like a monochrome hangover). An actual explanation I've heard is that a camo pattern keeps various spills that sailors are bound to get on their uniforms (generally machine lubricant, coffee, etc., but insert semen joke here).

And hey, the Air Force is looking at getting new service dress uniforms. They're considering a WWI style close-collared uniform with a waistbelt. Looks a lot like the Marine uniforms, actually, but in blue. They're also looking at a WWII style uniform, but those things just don't look good in blue, judging by the picture they had of it.

heh thats funny the Marine Corps mehtod for our uniform is this learn to swim in cammies lol that was a fun week at boot camp, but yeah the navy is supposed to be getting the digi cammies for there everyday work uniform for its simplicity to clean and care for *love perma press it equals one less thing to iron*

Which is true...but they neglect to say it is true of any tight weave fabric. You can do it with dockers, jeans, slacks..pretty much anything.
