Well Kingdom Come was a good story but to me it mostly spoke with what happens when you give people the power of gods, and how power itself does corrupt, and no-one knows who the good guys are. I like Kingdom Come because of Norman Mc Kay not superman. KC only really exposes big blue for what he seems to be to me. Big Fish, in a little pond. unable to cope with unfavorable opinion unable to understand what it's like to be unloved. And when he returns he comes up with follow me or be crushed by my power. What I say is supreme, and perfect and those who refuse to bow to my will will be punished.
Never liked him after Reign of the Supermen. His death was the last good story he's had.
I dislike Superman because he is an overbearing snot and prima donna. He's like the benevolent bully nowadays and immensely overpowered to boot. And if he isn't then the writers make him more so. Go back five years and Supes could be hurt by magic, mind controlled, the flash was faster and he had a normal level intelligence.
In the last five years he has gained (and in some cases lost) the ability for FTL movement, Super-genius, Immunity to psychic invasion, (even repulsing Eclipso briefly), and THOR HIT HIM WITH MJOLNIR AND DIDN"T MAKE HIM BLINK! That should have... well... right out killed him.
I own KC and have passed out and promoted three copies to people who don't read comics. I even have The Kingdom and all seven of it's extra pieces.
As for Superman leading the way? Namor was first, DC only predates Timely by 5 years and Stan Lee would have made it no matter who paved the way, even if no one did. Lecherous old bastard.
