Oh Bio, I had the craziest idea for a theory last night 3am brainstorms are the stuff you always remember.

Pretty much what I think would ever happen if you ever got something to below absolute zero. I think the atoms would just break down into hydrogen atoms.


there is no movement of anything at absolute zero b/c its entropy reaches its minimum value. Hydrogen atoms still have some movement (if i'm not mistaken..)

Well yeah, but the energy would be released from the fission of the atoms. Again this is a 3am theory.

Elements don't normally break down without an external force (energy), barring heavier elements' radioactive decay. As you approach 0 Kelvin, there is less and less energy available to effect changes like atomic decay.

What're you basing your theory upon?
 
It looks like there is an attainable concept of negative temperature, but it's not attainable for most common systems. You need weird stuff with different spins and lasers to make it happen, it wouldn't happen with atoms.

Sleep depravation, honestly it was just a what if you took it below absolute zero what would happen? Answer the atoms would do whatever they could to get above absolute zero. How would they get said energy? well breaking down sounds the most plausible to me.

So far as modern understanding takes us, you can't actually get below 0 Kelvin. Even if you could though, the atoms couldn't fission on their own. The system would simply have negligible energy.

Eventually, if you believe entropy theory, the atoms would just break down on their own, but that's only after many many eons. And the cold might actually keep them stable longer.

Jabber - the molecules will probably either because superconditive or superfluid. I'm just trying to remember physics and quant chemistry.

Totally not doing that. No need for alarm.

Your idea isn't crazy; just based on insufficient data.
