New Adventure, New Thread (M)

Sally, you never cease to amaze me with your skill and your kindness!

I had no idea that you were a masseuse, and can only imagine how good it would feel to let my mind drift and relax as your skilled hands worked out my aches and eased my sore muscles.

That is a beautiful painting, and I can easily see the Cliffs of Moher being an inspiration.

I remember a rebuilt castle on the fields as well, watching over the land and the sea.

Thank you :) Beautiful photo! My trip there was in late October so this time of year always reminds me of being there.

Stance

Today we removed all the bar products from one of our boats.

Loading and unloading cases of beer, pushing a flatbed cart laden with all the things we were unable to sell.

As we worked, I thought about how people who spend all their workday in an office pay to do the things that I get paid to do.

We had our second snowfall of the season overnight.

Thankfully, this was not a heavy coat of white but a soft dusting, just enough to highlight shady spots and grassy areas in white, a gentle nudge to remind us that summer has fled and winter is soon to arrive.

That cold front is heading my direction. Nooooo! Stay warm.

Today is also an excellent excuse to wear my new wool sweater and wrap myself in the wool throw that I bought in Dingle.

Of course, it would be warmer and more fun if there were someone under the blanket with me...
😈

I also have a wool sweater purchased in Dingle. Maybe we were in the same shop. That town was one of the best parts of my trip. Such a picturesque area. It's what I imagine as "typical" Ireland.

The sweater is actually from Kenmare.

The throw was from a charming shop on Main Street that had adorable felted wool mice in the storefront window.

I wanted to get one of the mice for my wife but they were "display only"

I chose the throw from a massive pile of them, looking through to the bottom to find the right color (blue) and the right pattern and feel.

I wanted something that would remind me of the warmth and happiness I felt while in the Emerald Isle.

This may sound incredibly stupid, but moreso than the Slavic countries that I have visited, Ireland felt like home. I do not know if it was the lush greenery, the beer, or the fact that so many people there faced hardship from the elements to survive and build a life. (Which reminded me of long winters I have spent living on a boat)

Being there felt 'right.' Even if I was merely a tourist.

I can honestly say I felt the same during my trip. It felt right being there and I still daydream about my time there. There are certain smells that trigger memories. I hope I can make it back soon.

When we were in Dingle we were walking passed a church and saw a beautiful cemetary off the back. We were looking at the head stones when after a moment a nun came running out of the church in our direction. We thought we had done something wrong until she came up to us and offered a hearty greeting and talked with us about where we were from and what we were doing in Ireland. A few mimutes later a priest came out and gabbed at us for about 20 minutes. It was really difficult to follow him at certain points because his accent was so thick but they were just adorable. Before we parted ways he offered us a blessing and gave us each a long hard hug. It is one of my favorite memories.

There was an amazing warmth and openness to the people there.
It added to the amazing memories and emotions of being in such a beautiful place.

That is a fantastic story and I am so glad that you had such a memorable experience!

Strength and honesty

I recently got some encouragement from a few friends to be a little more brave, a bit more revealing with my posts

I will be sure to pass along your gratitude.

Please allow my express my own--

Thank you my dear!

Sunlight bleaches you

Had some time alone to myself this afternoon.

In these cold and dreary days, it is nice to be reminded how good the sunlight can feel on my skin.

It's good to push our boundaries from time to time and reap the rewards of such endeavors.. You look fantastic and the last... such a tease. Well done.

Did I ever tell you that is my livelihood? :)

So I'm not trying to flaunt anything of my own on your thread but I thought you would appreciate the content of one of my paintings from a few years ago. It hangs in my office behind my desk. If I remember correctly you recently went to Ireland. I painted this based on a picture I took at the cliffs of Moher.

I am going to start visiting offices until I find that painting....
