Shameless plug and feedback needed

I’m starting this thread to ask people in the lifestyle to please read the first chapter of what I hope will become a BDSM romance novel. I’m writing this novel with my submissive, Pita. (She is the one who suggested I start a thread and solicit opinions.)

The question is this -- we all know there is a HUGE market for Romance; and there's also one for BDSM and D/s, though smaller. Is there one for a hybrid that puts them together? We have a lot of experience as writers, but this is something pretty new ....

Better yet, do you think we're making a start that will tap such a market?

Positive votes and comments are welcomed of course, but we also welcome all criticism. Pita and I want the story to be something that our community can relate to. Did we strike a chord?

I hardly qualify as being in the lifestyle as I am very new to it, but I have read more than my share of BDSM erotica. I think, without a doubt, there is a place for a D/s or BDSM romance novel. The erotica is great but I get bored with reading about "peg A going in slot B" without some interest in the characters. Then again, I find porn boring unless there is some kind of story to it, so maybe I am weird. LOL

Along the same line..it would be nice to read a story about average people that are in the lifestyle. I am sick to death of wealthy Doms who are drop dead gorgeous and their Playboy centerfold subs. It would be lovely to read about a couple have regular jobs, have to clean house, etc., just like the rest of us mere mortals. JMHO!

Callinectes, I sure hope you have given Softouch's story a read then. What I like about this story so much is that the characters are loosely based on him and I, and we are very regular people. Like me, Pita in the story is new to the lifestyle and finds submission a challenge which ultimately will lead to her joy. Joe in the story has his own challenges to face. It's a really rich story and trust me the next two chapters delve deeper into the characters as they learn to trust each other with their submission and dominance. Plus, there is some really hot scenes coming up.

Welcome, Callinectes! Believe me, your interests are shared by those who are trying to actually live the lifestyle and like to read fiction -- where am I in there?

As Pita says, lots more lies ahead, but just so you know ... in the story Joe has acne scars, and the real one is more "drop dead" than drop dead gorgeous ... as most of us are, lol.

More seriously, I have a difficult time of identifying with erotica and characters who don't struggle with the world that is around me. Not that I can't enjoy a good fantasy, and won't include a lot of it, but I have trouble believing someone can have 14 orgasms in a single session without having an awful lot of emotion tied up in it ... BDSM is often cynical and carries a dark, sardonic tone. In real life, many of us in the local BDSM group I and Pita belong to find our relationships joyful and romantic ... except for the part that involves doing the dishes.
