New Draft Law Passes House

As long American oil companies or mining companies get that sweet sweet access to oil or minerals in other countries who've committed the ultimate sin of denying them that access or as long as the companies in the industrial military complex turns a profit the next quarter does it matter whether it's our sons or daughters that come back in body bags and or with limbs blown off?
We have an omerta of sorts regarding the discussion of politically-sensitive current events in class, and I do my best not to let my own opinions be known when it comes to such things. But the issue of the draft and draft evasion does naturally come up when you're nearing the end of the school year in a room full of 18-year-olds, and I do usually end up discussing methods of draft evasion. Always in a historical context, of course! They particularly like how Malcolm X avoided service in World War II, the bloodthirsty creatures. :ROFLMAO:

Sometimes, for one reason or another, I even name-drop non-aligned nations which are unlikely to extradite US citizens who flee for political reasons. Peru and Cambodia are both high on that list.

I'm glad to report that, just from my observations, practically no one of military age is actually interested in dying or killing for the Washington elites. Those who come from military families (fairly large percentage in this area) are if anything even more vehemently anti-military than those who don't.

"Wokism" and lingering anger over the vax mandates do play a role in that, I think. But I don't think it's really as substantial of a role as Rightguide et al like to claim. I think it has a lot more to do with seeing 20 years of their parents' sacrifice so thoroughly pissed away in Afghanistan. That, and seeing our politicians fuming and raving about the dangers of Nazism, white supremacy and political extremism here at home while actively funding it in Ukraine and Israel.

Good for you. You grew up in a time when you were so fucking broke you repaired shoes and put buttons back on your clothing instead of buying new ones. I'm sorry for your pain but it is your pain.
You actually think people don't have to do that anymore?

Once upon a time, clothes and other items were at least built with the idea of it being possible to repair them before they were thrown out. You can't resole modern shoes, hardly. Nowadays, more than a few of my kids end the school year with their footwear held together by duct-tape.

As I've said many many times before, this country hates its young people. In this case it wants to tell them "Shut up and just go where we tell you and shoot and get shot at by who we tell you to." Amazing that that message isn't resonating after 20 years of only seeing foreign quagmires from our military interventionalism.

Only if we're interested in victory, which isn't a priority with Democrats.

Victory? Where have you been the last twenty years? We aren't at all interested in winning a war. We only want to get in there and stay in there so companies like Raytheon can have a windfall selling us more and more bombs. Winning or backing out like we did in Vietnam or Afghanistan means ending the gravy train. So it will be talking heads like Sen. Graham on CNN or Fox all saying we have to stay a little longer, just surge a few thousand more troops....

That's what I've been saying for some time now. We haven't won a war since WWII. Our leaders, however, are quite willing to squander a generation of Young Americans to pursue the interests of Deep State Donors who get wildly rich off the process. And in Ukraine twice as willing to squander a generation of Ukrainian youth to further the aims of those very same donors drooling at the mouth over exploiting the mineral wealth of Ukraine. The trouble is, the Russians are now sitting on most of it. They must be removed...

Nothing short of Moscow glowing can ever lead to Crimea or Donetsk going back to Ukranazi domination.

Probably not even that.

And who's gonna remove them? Trump? In his first time as Commander and Chief he hired people like Mike Pompeio and Jon fucking Bolton...and so many of theose Let's jump into a war with (Pick a country on the map) people. If Senator Lindsey Graham is singing your fucking praises on the Sunday news shows for four years, then you're not fighting the forever war deep state you're doing exactly what they want you to.

Biden's played chicken with them getting us out of Afghanistan and yeah it went totally fubar on him and that's on him, but that was the only time I've ever seen anyone tell the forever war deep state no, and not balk at the consequences. I give Joe Biden a ton of credit on that.

So in this one category...Biden has more balls than Trump. Though I do give Trump some credit in starting the negotiation process.

While I am tempted to say that "Both you and Veroe make a good point" here is what you don't understand...

That being, Trump IS the Deep State. He is both the product of, and the very embodiment of, the Deep State. He brazenly supports it's goals and furthers their interests, that being- unfettered, unchecked access to more wealth and power at everyone else's expense.

No serious thinkers really believe that Trump being in office is going to change a thing; on the contrary, if Trump sees a way to enrich himself and his donors by invading, say, Kenya for their oil (as Kinked a Suck or whatever that guy's current name is. proposed)...you better believe our young Americans would be fighting in Kenya the very next day. Which is exactly one of the many, many reasons serious thinkers oppose him. Trump would gleefully sell Alaska to Russia if he thought he could personally profit off such a sale, and he would gladly let Putin run roughshod over not only Ukraine, but also Poland, Lithuania and most of Eastern Europe if he thought it would benefit his own interests in some way.

So yes, the military industrial complex does have an inordinate amount of power. Biden obviously won't fix that, but if you think Trump will, you are delusional.

I agree with a lot of what you said except that Trump is the deep state. He's not. He may be a symptom of it, but if anything he's a useful idiot for the deep state. He's not smart enough to be a part of them, and doesn't care enough either. Look how he handled N. Korea and Kim Jong Un. He'll do whatever or say whatever helps him that moment, but he's not a long term strategy sort of guy.

He's the toddler in the grocery store on the floor throwing a hissy fit cause he wants a candy bar, and won't stop whining and crying and bitching about how mean you are for not giving him a candy bar until you finally give in and give it to him. That's the level of manipulation that's his limit. Real long term thinkers like the dudes that run the deep state run circles around him.

Aside from the fall of Moscow, the Russians are there to stay in the regions they hold right now. They will probably reoccupy Kharkiv and retake Odesa before they are finished and they will keep Crimea. The only way for Ukraine to survive in my opinion is to accept neutrality in the manner of Switzerland and Austria. I think it's just a fact of life that in the eastern provinces where Russian-speaking people are dominant Russia will defend them. Unless Europe and the United States want to go to war with Russia, and the nuclear consequences that could arise, there cannot be a NATO ground force present in Ukraine. Ultimately we want to bring Russia back into the European fold and away from China both for strategic and economic reasons but that is lost to the present.

Joe Biden has failed us. I'm not sure what Trump could do to change the situation in Ukraine except to tell Zelesky he must negotiate. It may be a generation before we can build trust between the West and Russia. NATO and the United States do not have a credible offensive force in Europe, at best we could put up a credible defense. Russia now has a battle hardened ground force bigger the West. It's on it's own ground and it has unity of command. Nobody in America outside of Washington DC elites and donor class wants to get into a ground war with Russia. All of that said, don't think that Joe Biden can't find a way to get us into a war with Russia that we will lose.

This analysis is unrelated to reality, Veroe. It's a partisan rant. That's not to say you're not entitled to one, but that's all it is.

I would think one pair of shoes would last kids today several years since all they do is sit on their ass scrolling the phone.

Wowowowowow…

All you have are strange partisan rants that unrelated to reality. So glad you are recognizing it.

Your time with Daddy Vlady has produced something productive.

Women love to talk about equality and the uselessness of men as they exist in an advanced infrastructure of civilization engineered, built, and secured entirely by men. They talk about their "rights" as if they were something other than "social constructions" provided by and ultimately enforced by the superior physical force of men. How many teams of female ironworkers and masons do we see? How many armies of women do we find buried in cemeteries all over the World in defense of civilization? How many can unplug a toilet, rewire a light switch, hang a door, install a window, or fix a flat tire?
Hating on women again? It’s a good thing you are in Daddy Vlady’s arms. He will make it all go away.

(Some of us are waiting for your Daddy to find you a nuisance…but you won’t make that happen will you? You never become a nuisance to anyone…)

So can healthy men.
Daddy Vlady left you? I saw he went to go visit another of his loves. Did he offer to take you with him? (You didn’t refuse if he offered, right?)

Are you again all alone? You are used to that right? It’s your default position.

Well I think we know what your default position was when Daddy was around.

Get some gelato, put on Netflix, and cry a little bit. Or you can do your usual and randomly hate post here…you do seem to enjoy that more.

You did check to make sure you still have your passport right? I’m sure Daddy Vlady wouldn’t have taken it so you were stranded…he doesn’t do things like that. (Usually it’s much more sinister than that…clearly he does love you)

To the OP, interesting that this comes from the House, which is controlled by the Rs, so it's their bill. Quoting a Dem in the article means that the Rs went into hiding after passing the bill. This is the same House that refused to fund the military, and their cohorts in the senate held up command promotions over silly things for a very long time. The Rs can talk flag and patriotism, but struggle to do it.
Mostly BS, The House did pass the NDA of which the draft language was included but it was the Democrats who held it up because of the anti-cultural amendments that were added to the bill. The Senate will attempt to strip those out. If we go to war with the Russians we will have to have a draft.
