Hey, everyone.

Southeastern Mass, here. Been lurking on this thread for awhile and decided that I wasn't going to make any friends that way.

Is anybody else feeling a bit wistful about the end of summer?

Have to admit that I'm actually of two minds on the subject - I'm a gardener and high summer is really not our best time of year. On the other hand, things like hikes and trips to the beach are definitely better when the weather is warm.

hi there and welcome to the thread !:)

this summer went WAY too fast.....other than it being a bit too hot and humid late June and
a good portion of July......the weather has been fabulous, especially the last few weeks (other than
when we had rain). I can't believe its September already!

I had 10 days in New England in the last couple of weeks ... and even though a lot of it was spent with my folks, just walking or driving around old haunts made me miss home. Even though I've lived away from Maine now for 26 years, I don't think any other place will ever really be home for me.

Hi there and welcome to the thread! :)

That's awesome you spent time in New England ......I have to agree that if one was born
in this region, the essence never fully leaves us.......I went away to college in upstate NY
for 4 years and every time I came back to CT for breaks, etc., the pizza tasted better,
going down to the beach was a lot more fun even when the weather was chilly, etc. :)

Where would you look for an FWB relationship?

If any of the guys here do have a good have a good answer to this, they're probably keeping the information to themselves, but nothing ventured, etc...

Lately (oh, hell, for quite awhile now) I've been thinking of starting a deliberate search for a "friend with benefits". I did have a long term FWB at one point and I still miss her very much.

That relationship was something that I just happened into, however. So the question is, where do you look when you want to find an intimate friend on purpose instead of by accident?

I mean, we know that Lit isn't a very good place for males to find partners because the site skews so heavily male that it can be hard to even find a woman from your area. And Craig's List? Probably about the same, except with more prostitutes and spambots, from what I've read.

What does that leave? Dating services?

Thoughts?

Laundromats and libraries are a good pickup spot, foodstores and pharmacys could work sometimes as a pickup spot, social gatherings like AA or NA are great as a Nymphomaniac pick up spot.

Literotica is a dead zone as a pick up spot.

Thank you for your suggestions, Shagly.

I should perhaps clarify that I'm distinguishing, as some do, between FWB's (real friends who you sleep with) and "fuck buddies" (people who you have little connection with aside from sex and may not even particularly like as people). I have no interest in finding the latter.

I was hoping that there might be some sort of local resource that I'd missed, but it's looking more and more like dating services like The Right One offer the best available pool of girls who are both suitable (in terms of things like interests and temperment, since I'm looking for friends) and available.

I actually enjoy meeting people here on Lit, but so far there haven't been any real sparks with anyone closer than two days' drive from me - and even those long distance possibilities have a way of imploding before we get to a real-life meeting.

I followed a friend to this thread then felt compelled to comment on Blase's contribution. I sympathize with the difficulty of finding a friend you can have interesting conversations with and very good sex when necessary.....I have some wonderful relationships with men with whom I have the most amazing conversations but how do I transition to an FWB relationship without perhaps jeopardizing the integrity of the friendship? My heart’s desire is not at all for a casual fuck buddy situation but for a true friend with whom I can have sex on occasion......this is apparently a very tall order.

Ghost!

Oh, my love, my darling,
I've hungered for your touch
a long, lonely time.
And time goes by so slowly
and time can do so much,
are you still mine?
I need your love,
I need your love,
God speed your love ..... to me!

Lonely rivers flow
to the sea, to the sea,
To the open arms of the sea.
Lonely rivers sigh,
"Wait for me, wait for me!"
I'll be coming home, wait for me!

Oh, my love, my darling,
I've hungered, for your touch
a long, lonely time.
And time goes by so slowly
and time can do so much,
are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love,
God speed your love...... to me!

Additional verse:
Lonely mountains gaze
at the stars, at the stars,
Waiting for the dawn of the day.
All alone, I gaze
at the stars, at the stars,
Dreaming of my love far away.

Oh, my love, my darling,
I've hungered for your touch
a long, lonely time.
And time goes by so slowly
and time can do so much,
are you still mine?
I need your love,
I need your love,
God speed your love to me!

Great song, Shagly.

Perhaps we should mention, for those below a certain age, that although the song was indeed used in the movie Ghost, its title is Unchained Melody.

Road Trip!!!

Hey gang,

Hope everyone is enjoying one of the LAST nice weekends. Am starting to get ready for my road trip down to Key West next month. Mostly taking 95 down, but will avoid the big traffic areas. I always enjoy going through southern Conneticut...;) Going to fantasy fest down there again this year. Great time and very open attitude down there..;) I'd pick up a hitchhiker, but only have room for 1 (2-seater). Maybe create a story or two on way down???

Ciao ppl,
JP

Well, maybe so Shagly, BUT there are some SUPER nice people here!!

I, for one really ENJOY conversing with many of them.

And who knows, someone might just "find" someone here if they really wanted to.

Sure Harley

Well, its usually 3rd or 4th week of October. It is essentially Mardi Gras for florida. There is a week of festivities, parades, parties. There is usually a theme, and usually a good deal of Pirates are around. They have mild parades that kids can go to, but at night its usually more adult-oriented. I am going to a regular favorite, the "pimp-n-ho" party. Its hosted by Ron Jeremy. Lots of costumes, and great dance music. I love Key West atmosphere anyway, but if you EVER get a chance to go during FF, GO! Of course the hotel rates pick up, because that is there PRIME week. Usually the hotels on the part of the island are cheaper, but the prime days are thurs, fri, sat of the week. You can see the lineup at fantasyfest.net .
