Will the member profiles eventually be listed in alphabetical order? Searching for a particular author is very difficult if they remain in the seeminglyrandom order they are in now. Also, is there an author search function available?

I don't mind having my e-mail visible...I can use the Lit addy or hotmail addy for anonymity...and you can always block someone if they start harrassing you.

Laurel, It's Katerina here...Ummm, I noticed in my new profile my revised versions have been approved. I have to tell you, I am resending them ok? I have the new ones dated November 15th on the actual document. Please do not submit the ones that are approved as I have made some current changes since then. Also, the older versions will have to be deleted. Do you want me to send through regular email also, or just send again in the new script? Please let me know. Could you respond to this, just so I won't worry about the wrong ones being submitted? xox

I'd like to add my two cents about the BB link on the author's page. I find it a little disconcerting. As a writer, I've gotten quite a bit of great email from readers, and some kind of strange stuff. I'd prefer that the weirdos not have a direct link to some of my most personal, intimate thoughts. I know that's sort of contradictory, because I'm posting them on a site, after all. Yet, many readers don't even know the bulletin board exists, and if you don't have the link, then it's just one or two more steps they have to go through, which might be enough to dissuade the strange ones.

P.S. Laurel, baby. My revision is finished, but I haven't heard from you regarding the format the editor wants. Did you get my snail mail? It's been a week since I sent it, and I'm wondering if it got there at all... <winks>

Hey all & hope you're well -

Just a quick check in on a couple of issues:

1) Please let me know your opinion on having a link to the BB posts on the member page. One person has said they don't like the idea so I would like to hear what the rest of you think. The member page is supposed to be kind of a "central" location where someone can find out everything about a specific member. If the link to the BB posts is "too much information", we can always remove it. But, I certainly want to get an idea of what a bunch of you think before making any decisions.

2) The email display issue is at the top of my list. Laurel and I are thinking of trying to implement something like what the bulletin board uses (where a viewer can email a member via a form) site wide. There are a couple of potential problems with this idea, but we could try to work it out if this solution seems best to most of you.

Here are some of my concerns about doing it that way: A) Could have some negative impact on the server if people send a lot of mail; B) Potential for abuse (spam, harassment, etc) if people are allowed to send anon email via our server; C) A form does not have all the cool features (spell check, for example) that a normal email program offers.

The upside is that your email address would never be revealed publicly to anyone unless you responded to the mail sent to you via the site.

I maintain an addy that is just for lit traffic, so I have no problem, and I would recomend that any one who does use the same solution.

Please let me know your thoughts, concerns, and suggestions regarding these issues.

Yes, they will be in alphabetical order. Yes, there is a search function - scroll down on the page and you'll see it.

Submitted a poem and now see that in the subheading for it however my submitted photo does not show where it should

Anything submitted - stories, poems, pics - will not show up until it's approved on our end. That's why any poems or stories you submit will show up on your page as "pending".

My photo submitted in august... wasnt shown on my stuff not one I recently submitted

If you haven't transferred the photos yet not a problem... but that is what I meant.


re the email thingy... I don't have a problem... I have lit but for people who may only have the one home acount or whatever it just worrys me a bit for them.

No, there's a profile on the site. The profile on the site, in fact, has more information than the BB profile. Go to the test page and click on "Member Profile", then click on the names of one of the users there and you'll see what I mean.

The site and the BB share the info, and there's no way that I know of to have the info in one place but not in another. I'll discuss it with Manu, but I'm pretty sure that's how it is.

Bobtoad, the profile on the new site, IS the profile on the BB. It's just presented in a different format.

You can leave it mostly blank if you so desire, but there is currently no way to flag your profile to not be displayed with the rest of the members.

Perhaps your programmer could check the flag to not disply when the member is on the BB and interpret it as not to diplay the record on the site members list? That would limit others access to the profile link in each post and the BB members list.
