My suggestion would be to read Hecate's Guide at the top of the list of stories first.
Then it's just a matter of finding a story you'd like to join that isn't marked as "closed" and PM either the story starter or one of the characters in currently in it and ask if whatever character you've come up with will fit in and if so if you can join in the story.
