So this social distancing thing is getting boring but I’ve been diligent about it. I’m working from home and only going out for food and to walk the dog. Today we walked on the beach. I know a quiet spot that I have to myself. I hope everyone is safe and healthy.

So yesterday, I planted my herbs in the container garden. Tonight, I need to bring them inside because it's going to freeze. WTF, Mother Nature. I give up. Honestly... hope you all are remaining safe (and warm). Time to light the fireplace tonight!

So yesterday, I planted my herbs in the container garden. Tonight, I need to bring them inside because it's going to freeze. WTF, Mother Nature. I give up. Honestly... hope you all are remaining safe (and warm). Time to light the fireplace tonight!

Last Sunday it went into the 70's and the 4 of us got sunburnt hanging out near the Hudson River and totally didn't account for the sun reflecting off the water.

Now this weekend, I'm contemplating either bringing in the pots and containers of tomatoes and salad greens I planted last weekend. Either that or tarping them with plastic. Hard to believe they're talking of night time temps in the 30's this weekend.

Stay healthy, stay safe and enjoy the weekend! And enjoy that fireplace too, so jealous in the best way possible. Love an indoor fireplace or outdoor firepit, wish I could manage an outdoor one, but can't manage that on a small balcony.

I used to live along the Hudson River - lovely in the summer - but yeah, sunburn sneaks up on you! I live in a townhome, so the fireplace is electric and I can't have a firepit either. That's at the beach house, where I can do whatever I want! Stay warm.

I know, crazy weather to go along with everything else! They are saying north and west of the city could see snow... in May!!! Then 62 on the Island Sunday. Crazy.

Happy Mother's Day New York. Born in queens, lived on the long island the last 30+ years. It's a brisk day in my backyard, got some sun. Not last week where I started my rock lobster irish tan. It was packed this weekend, with out-of-towners, and they left quite a mess behind. Parking and entrance requirements weren't enforced, and there were people from ALL OVER.

Good to hear, glad you are back on Long Island part time. The Long Island beaches have been very inconsistent. Some towns have done a very good job about enforcing residency rules and occupancy limits. And other beaches have been a free for all as you said. For your sake I hope your beach gets better.

Thanks! It felt good to be back, even though it was a "working weekend". The problem with the beaches is that the town offices haven't been open to prepare for summer with beach passes, hiring attendants, etc. So they are unable to enforce anything. It'll get sorted out soon. and when it does, the house is ready!
