“I actually turned 21 a couple weeks ago,” Austin said. “Anyway, you seduced me. Gabi’s got my back on this one, right?”
“It does sound like her,” her friend noted as she broke out a corkscrew. “If you think I’m going to miss any of your cooking, you don’t know me as well as I thought.”
The three of them sat down to dinner together. Gabi couldn’t resist the opportunity to bring up some embarrassing stories from their post, and they all laughed and brought up their own similarly humiliating anecdotes, while working on the fairly drinkable bottle of wine Austin had selected. “I’m going to bang out those dishes and then hit the biblioteca,” she said, taking their plates. “Good luck with the studying.”
After Gabi left, Austin remarked, “She's cool. Does she approve of me?”
As potentially distracting as it seemed, the bedroom did seem like the best place to study, as it’d allow Monica to spread out at her desk while Austin did the same on the floor. He sat with his back against the bed as she brought up her notes on her laptop. “Okay. Calculating average acceleration,” he said. “I have a total block about this one.”
As they continued to study together, a refreshing night breeze was coming in through the cracked window. “Instantaneous velocity,” Austin said, furrowing his brow. “No, wait, that’s instantaneous speed. Right?”
Monica confirmed that he was correct. He was doing pretty well overall. “Okay. I think that’s about all I can handle for now.” Austin stood up and walked over to where she sat at the desk, her chair swiveled around to face him. He reached out and took her left wrist in his sizable hand. “But I think that really helped cement a lot of that in my brain. Which is pretty impressive considering I’ve also spent the last hour picturing you getting naked."
