Realism isn't racism

What John insists on calling "race realism" most certainly is racism.

And here's what you're missing, probably on purpose: the murder of George Floyd (and too many others to list here) was emblematic of a problem that has persisted for decades: disproportionate police brutality against Blacks. What happened in Charlotte is no less horrible and the guy deserves just as much to rot in jail for the rest of his life. The only "difference" is that it isn't symptomatic of the systemic racism that those other cases are. (It IS symptomatic of what happens when we give up on doing anything for the mentally ill, and three guesses as to whose side of the aisle has cut those services to the bone.)

I'll tell you why I think the right is screaming so loud on this one. Certainly good old fashioned racism is part of it - it always is with them - but that's not the whole story this time. No, this case is also as clearcut an example as you could ask for of violence against women AND violence against immigrants, both of which the right almost always just winks at. But as long as they control the conversation with their nonsense about hypocrisy just because the left doesn't pretend this sort of thing happens all the time like police brutality against Blacks does, maybe people won't think of that.
