North to the Future

I take photos on occasion and keep my eyes open for good ones, otherwise.
 
It's a photo of the local Uni campus, with one of their parking structures on it. It's no wilderness, it's a city.

My thoughts are with my fellow Alaskans as they prepare for a Bering Sea superstorm, the remnants of Typhoon Merbok. Forecasted winds are in excess of 75-90 mph, pressures at around 940 millibars (typical of a Category 4 hurricane), and expected storm surge with the potential to cause rapid erosion and damage to coastal infrastructure. For scale and context, this storm would stretch from Minnesota to Texas, and from Indiana to California.

As of 11p last evening Buoy 46071 west of Amchitka Island in the Western Aleutians has recorded seas to 41 feet!! Adak Island has recorded multiple gusts to 75 mph and reached 70°F.
