James Henderson had just recently turned eighteen and was a couple months into his senior year at Bayside High School. He just moved to the new city wit his family and started the new school this year. Things were going good for him too his grades were some of the best in the school and he was making friends. Although some of them only used him for help with work he didn't mind he was used to it.

Focusing on getting and keeping his good grades took a toll on his social life. He was always busy with home work and projects he never really went to hang out with any of his friends he did occasionally on the weekend. One thing he had trouble with was the girls, he never knew how to really talk to them and never had a girlfriend. James was 6 foot tall and had brown hair blue eyes and a tone body so he would have no problem finding a girlfriend if he tried. Maybe he would have better luck in college is what he constantly thought to himself. It was another Monday and James pulled into the student parking lot and grabbed his bag as he head to his first class of the day.

Marina Smith was fairly new herself to Bayside High School. She was no student, although she'd been mistaken as one one more then one occasion, but she'd recently transferred to Bayside as the new French teacher. At five foot six, she dressed casually but well: white buttoned shirt and blue jeans, leaving her auburn hair hanging over her shoulders. She looked like your usual student, and when she'd first set foot in class and sat at the teacher's desk, many students exchanged looks: "is she insane", she'd heard one of them gasp. She had some nerves, this new girl.

Oh wait. Oops. That's the teacher. Well shit... This'll be interesting.

Most took her class for the easy credits, and she was fine with that as long as they handed their homework and projects by their due date. She had a 'no second chances' policy, mainly because while her class was not hard, she did not want them to think of her as not serious due to her young age. A few learned the hard way, but eventually, with her rules well established, she found herself with well rounded classes which were a breeze to teach.

On that monday morning, Marina started her class as usual, handing out everyone's grades for the last project, except for one: James Henderson. The truth was, she had been very disapointed with what she had found. A part of her hoped she'd been wrong. He was a good student, quiet but friendly. She was a few years older then him - where he was eighteen, she was twenty-three, which wasn't that big a difference. Part of this was why she connected so well with her students for the most part. She still remembered her high school years, she understood what most went through.

Once the hour ended and students began to gather their things for their next class, Marina sat on the edge of her desk, crossed legged, looking at the boy as she removed her glasses. "James. I'd like a word with you before you leave."

James walked down the halls and stopped by his locker to switch out the books he was going to need for the first half of his classes before lunch. Heading to classroom B101 which was his French class with Ms. Smith. She was a pretty cool teacher as long as you didn't get on her bad side. She was the youngest teacher James ever had which he didn't have a problem with she was one of his favorite teachers.

The class went by pretty quickly like it always did and he paid attention to the lesson for the day. James actually preferred French to Spanish it was a more interesting language and culture to him. He was even able to finish some of his homework for his other classes during that class. The bell rang and everyone picked up books and bags and headed for the door. He was a few feet from the door when Ms. Smith said she wanted a word with him. "Uh yeah alright" He said as he walked slowly towards her desk holding the straps of his back pack.

Marina waited for the other student to have departed the classroom before adressing James. She looked unimpressed, though not angry. Not yet anyway, and she crossed her arms over her chest, drawing a Y shaped cleavage under her collarbone.

She looked at him a while, hoping he would confess on his own, and when he didn't, she sighed and handed him his project. The red mark on it, a clearly circled "F", jumped right at him like a wound on the white page.

"You're a good student, James", she said softly, "and I understand you're new. You want to make friends, impress. But I won't accept letting others copy off another's homework. Julia's a pretty girl, but honestly, you're not helping her by letting her copy your work, and as you can see, it's doing you no favors either."

James pulled on the straps adjusting his back pack and as he did so he caught a glimpse of her cleavage as she folded her arms. He was beginning to wonder why Ms. Smith called him to stay after. Then she pushed the paper closer to him and he saw it was his project with a big red F on it. When she started explaining about how she knew he was letting Julia copy he shook his head at his own disappointment.

He was surprised he was able to hold back this much until he started pleading with the teacher. "I am so sorry and I won't let anyone copy off me again, but please there has to be a way I can raise my grade. I never had an F before and I wouldn't be able to live with myself." He was hoping the teacher would show some sympathy on him.

She sighed again, shaking her head, leaning back on the desk with her hands as support. "You know I have a no second chance policy... You're a good looking guy, James. You don't need to do this to attract attention. There's better ways to get a girl to notice you."

James felt a little awkward when his teacher called him good looking. "Okay I'll keep that in mind Ms. Smith, but is there anyway I can get some extra credit to make it like this F never happened." This F was going to hurt his overall grade and his GPA. "I know it was the wrong thing to let Julia copy my project I just couldn't say no she kept pushing me and flirting with me too"

Marina pinched her lips together. She couldn't make exceptions. If she did it for him, she had to do it for everyone else. But that poor boy... A few sways of the hips and that girl had him in her grasp doing everything he wanted from her. As wrong as what James had been to let Julia copy his work, Julia had known what she was doing. Marina did feel bad for him... She'd met her share of boys like him, but none was good looking like James. It was a shame...

.... which was when she got an idea. It was dangerous. She could even lose her job if things got out of hands. But deep down she thought she could perhaps help him in some way. And besides, Julia had not been in class today and she had not handed her her own project yet.

She gave him a cornered smile, a twinkle of mischeaf deep in her green eyes. "Do you like Julia, James?"

'Do I like Julia? What kind of question is that' James thought to himself but didn't dare say it to his teacher. He backed up and sat on the desk closest to him and set his bag on the ground. "I mean I guess I like her" He said softly almost in a whisper. "But she is only interested in me for my work she would never like me" He added in the same tone.

What he forgot to tell his teacher is that he didn't know how to talk to girls. He never had a girlfriend, the furthest he ever gotten with a girl was making out with one and got a lap dance from another at a party he got dragged to with his friends. Other than that the only time he talked to girls was when they wanted to get work from him. He felt like a loser and pathetic.

Marina saw the look in his eyes. He looked sad and she couldn't blame him. She'd be sad too if she were in his shoes.

She ran her hand through her hair, looking at him a while, and finally decided to go ahead with her idea.

Taking a scrap of paper, she scribbled her adress on it and handed it to him. "Your next class is about to start. Why don't you meet me at my place tonight and we'll discuss what could be done to forget about your grade?"

"Wait this is your address? Why not Just discuss it here after school?" As soon as he finished talking the room started filling up with her next class. He decided he should just go since he didn't wanna be late to his next class. "Alright sure I'll be there" He said picking up his bag and turning to walk out the room and head to the other side of the school. As the rest of the day went on he wondered why she wanted him to show up at her house instead of the school. He was gonna show up at her house because he needed this F to go away.

His last class ended around 2:15 and he got all the stuff he was going to need for homework and stuff and walked out to his car. He went home for about an hour and a half before he pulled the address from his pocket and headed over to her house sitting outside in his car for a few minutes before heading to her front door. Ringing the doorbell he stood there waiting in his jeans and polo shirt.

Marina had to hold back her laughter when he asked why not just discuss things after school, and right here at that. He really was as clueless as he was handsome. In many ways, it made his charm, she thought.

The rest of the day went by too slowly for her own taste. Not that she was overly excited, but it gave her time to think that this could very well be the end of her early career if she got caught. But she pushed on, making the few preparations she could from the school. The rest she did once she was home.

The sun was beginning to settle when finally James showed up at her door. Right on time too. With a deep breath, she opened the door, smiling at her student.

She looked nothing like a teacher if she ever did. Wearing a short, sleeveless dress with its large silver and diamond belt, her auburn hair, usually straight, was now slightly curled, just enough to add something of a mysterious air to her. She smiled, one hand on her hip, diamond earings glimmering with the last of the light of day. She sounded quite amused, her voice melodious. "THIS is what you wear when you meet up one on one with a woman?"

James eyes widened when his teacher opened the door. He double check the numbers on the side of her door to make sure he had the right house. She looked even more beautiful then she did in class. "I didn't realize I should have dressed up when meeting with my teacher" James scratched his head slowly starting to piece together what might actually be going on. Why didn't he realize this earlier? He would have been to nervous to show up if he had know they weren't going to be meeting about schoolwork.

"I didn't realize I should have dressed up when meeting with my teacher."

She chuckled softly, a melodious sound. She knew he wouldn't have gotten the hint, or rather she'd had a hunch. If he truly was the shy boy she thought he was, then he would have turned up innocently with his books in hands - and look, that's exactly what he did.

"Well you should have known better, James", she said softly and closed the door behind her, locking it. She pressed her finger against his chest teasingly. "You and I are going out to eat. I've made reservations for seven at an Italian restaurant downtown."

"Reservations? Dinner? Should a teacher and student really be doing this?" Now he really wished he had dressed better now that he knows that they are going to dinner. He got excited when he felt her finger on his chest. What if someone from school saw them eating dinner together what would they think what would they say? That would change things big time if they got spotted.

He nodded in agreement figuring he had no say in the matter since she already had made reservations and already locked the door behind her. "Can I at least stop by my house and get changed?"

"I'm not taking you out as my student, James", she responded softly, cupping his cheek with her hand gently. She thought it was amusing how warm his skin was compared to hers. "And the restaurant is out of the city. We won't be seen. I promise you. I'd never do anything that would compromise your future. And if worst comes to worst, blame it on me. I'll be the one taking it and you'll be out of harms way." She said this seriously, matter-of-factly. It was a silly thing, ruining her life for this boy, hardly a man, but she meant it.

She walked him to her car: a red Hyundai. It had nothing special about it - it was boring, even. "And yes, we can pass by your place so you can get changed." She hopped in the driving seat, opening the passenger's side for him to climb on, and she drove the few minutes it took to get to his home. "Now don't go thinking me a stalker", she chuckled. "I simply looked up your address in case you drank too much and I had to take you home after."

It seemed she had everything planned out. They were going out of town so they had no chance of getting spotted. Why was she risking her career for him though that's what he couldn't figure out. "So when you say your not taking me out as a student does that mean this is a date?" He asked before he climbed out of the car at his house. She even looked up his address she didn't leave anything out of the plan.

Heading into his house he quickly changed into a pair of khaki pants and a light blue button up dress shirt. He figured this would be nice enough attire for this date. He even put on a little bit of cologne then headed back outside. James was so nervous now but there was no backing down.

Marina waited for him in the car. What he didn't know was that she was nervous too. She knew what she was doing, but driving him home for him to change, she suddenly feared he wouldn't come back out. Maybe she'd gone too far with him. Maybe she'd read too many of those novels and watched too many of those supposedly funny romantic movies. It had gone to her head... And now look where that had brought her.

In fact, she was quite convinced he'd run off and locked the door behind him until he did return, looking far better then earlier. She smelled the cologne on him and was pleasantly surprised. She didn't show she was sure he'd found an excuse to run away from her, but she did show the relief.

"Looking good, James", she told him, setting the car in gear again. "I guess that yes, this is a date... and an assignment." She spoke while looking ahead at the road. "Your assignment is to make it through this date. To impress me. I'll tutor you if you need it... And if you can make it through this night, then I'll set your grade as it should have been had you not let Julia Miller copy off you."

"So I'm going on a date with my teacher for an assignment. A little weird but if it will help get rid of that F I'm fine with it" He added a slight chuckle after he spoke. He was pretty horrible at starting conversations so this might be a long night. "So Ms. Smith I don't even know your first name" He was really nervous the closer they got to the restaurant.

He also wondered if they were just going to have dinner. Usually stories he heard people did a lot more than dinner for their date and that made him even more nervous. Could she possibly want to have sex with him? He couldn't even imagine what she would think if she knew he was a virgin.

She smiled, keeping her eyes on the road. Darkness was setting in by now and street lamps were coming to life one by one. It was a forty-five minutes ride to the restaurant, well out of prying eyes. At least that's what she hoped.

"Marina, and tonight this is what you'll call me. Miss Smith is for school, and even then... It makes me feel so... I don't know - old? I'm only twenty-three", she laughed, "but it makes me feel like some eighty year old grumpy librarian. I mean, be honest, do I look like a frustrated old lady?" She looked at him, waiting for the red light to turn green, taking her eyes off the road for the first time since they'd left his house. She had that twinkle in her eyes - playful.

When Marina started talking about her being old James looked over at her and looked her up and down not one thing about her looked old. "Marina you definitely do not look old. You are a very beautiful young woman." He then looked out the side of the car looking over the darken terrain as they kept driving. After a couple more minutes of silence he turned back towards his teacher. "So how many other students have you taken out on a date?" He was curious if he was the only one or if there had been more.

Marina smiled at the compliment, chuckling softly. "Why, thank you, James."

"So how many other students have you taken out on a date?"

Marina was silent a moment, drawing her time as she drove. They would be at the restaurant soon. "Only you", she admitted softly. "Believe it or not it's not something I do everyday. So tell me, why is it that a handsome man like you is without a girlfriend?"

James fought off a smile when he heard he was the first one she ever took out on a date. If he was smiling it was wiped off his face with her next sentence. She got right to asking him why he didn't have a girlfriend. "Well..." He paused for a few moments before continuing, "Keeping the GPA I have isn't easy. I am always busy with school work or homework I never really have time for girls. Not that I would be very well at talking to one anyways" He looked down at his lap realizing how much of a loser he sounded like.

Marina pulled into the restaurant's parking lot. The sun had almost completely disappeared now, casting the sky into a dark blue sheet as the stars began peering through. There were a few people on the terrasse, which had an amazing view of the lake the restaurant boarded.

"Well that's funny", she said as she stopped the engine, "you've been doing a fine job talking with me so far."

"Don't worry knowing me I'll find a way to screw it up" He said in response as he looked out his window at the restaurant. It was the fanciest place he had ever seen he caught a glimpse of the terrace that over looked the lake and thought how romantic this place was and still couldn't believe this was happening, he was actually going on a date with his teacher.
