Obama: The US is the most respected country in the world

...

True.....but the GWOT has had actual battles and military operations, body counts and a battlefield.

How many battalions of troops did we send to the slaughter for the Cold War?? Can you name some of the city leveling battles that raged for days/weeks?? What date did congress declare war on the USSR??

Right, like I said it was a lot of dick waving and walking the razors edge with the end of the world because so much posturing.....no actual fight/victory happened.

Two points:

The vast majority of people who have served post-9/11 were never shot at, and never shot at anybody else. Yet they are treated as war heroes and given benes simply based on the time period in which they served.

The cold war had battles and people died. I was stabbed twice and shot once. It was a different time though. We didn't have unit web sites, emails to Jody and Skype sessions with momma. We didn't have reporters rolling film from the tip of the spear. OpSec meant nobody knew where you were or what you were doing.

It was a different time, with different rules. And not to take away anything from those that signed the paper and picked up a weapon post-9/11, but every year in the US, more people die from drunk driving than were KIA in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The video-game warriors deserve all the accolades they are receiving. But so do those that served pre-9/11

If as you claim I'm full of shit...

Please provide a list of all US presidents since 1945 who have NOT launched illegal invasions on other smaller poorer countries.

If you can't, I'll assume you're as ignorant as you are rude. The two usually go together.

And I warn you I'll hound you on this. I object to online abusive language from anyone. It usually only comes from the ignorant.

Almost the first president?

You're full of shit.

Many fewer years than it'll take to bring something approaching peace to the Middle East after the illegal US/UK invasion of Iraq twelve years ago. The people of that state and its neighbours will be suffering for a few years yet. Because of US foreign policy, and Bliar's toadying to the US and lying to the UK parliament about the 'weapons of mass destruction' pretext.

He'll end up on trial for his lies.

how many years will it take to undo the obama disaster?

I'm not calling you a liar at all. What I am saying is that you and yours really need to get out and get this shit declassified and push the narrative because every history book I've read claims there were no direct confrontations between the US and USSR. Even the special forces never directly met officially. It doesn't mean any disrespect, as you say I'm a video game warrior and if I got shot at really depends on your definition of shot at. Does Saddam launching missiles in my general direction but other than once never getting closer than a quarter mile count? Or does them attacking a base as we were already leaving and me being a non-combat troop being amongst the first first to leave count? Cus if not I've never been shot at.

I don't really care about it enough to do any more than make an occasional post about it on an internet porn board. It was a long time ago for me and in no way has any impact on my life today (other than my annual visit to the VA).

Here's an interesting table though

That's why I added the "and yours" I think an accurate telling of history is important.

32 kills though? That's few enough I almost want them to name names because that's. . .I think sharks killed more people in that period than that. Knowing you probably don't know, are we talking traditional military deaths here or are we talking spies? Cus I assume they get caught and killed every so often as an occupational hazard.

I would have never thought to look that up though, thanks.

It also depends on what you consider the "Cold War"

The Cold War was a state of political and military tension after World War II between powers in the Western Bloc (the United States, its NATO allies and others) and powers in the Eastern Bloc (the Soviet Union and its allies in the Warsaw Pact).

Historians have not fully agreed on the dates, but 1947–1991 is common. It was termed as "cold" because there was no large-scale fighting directly between the two sides, although there were major regional wars, known as proxy wars, in Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan that the two sides supported.

No, it illustrates your inability to put together a cogent sentence and stay on subject of the thread. If you recall, the subject is Obama claiming that the US is the most respected nation in the world under "his watch."

Which sentence exactly did you not understand or did not communicate a clear point?? Right.....so you're a liar too.

It's not my objective to talk about oh pee otherwise I would have addressed it.

IF you don't want to follow the flow of the conversation that's on you.

Yep and it's been that way for a long long time.

The cold war had battles and people died. I was stabbed twice and shot once. It was a different time though. We didn't have unit web sites, emails to Jody and Skype sessions with momma. Not every unit in the military is like SealTeam Hollywood. No one knew where I was or what I was doing and I'd still go to prison if I opened my mouth about it.

I still don't think there was any battles, not in the conventional war sense. Unless you can point out specifically where the US military and the USSR military went head to head like a bunch of rabid Klingons I'll continue believing it was a PR/money war not a 'kill them all, kill them all with fire!' war.

It was a different time, with different rules. And not to take away anything from those that signed the paper and picked up a weapon post-9/11, but every year in the US, more people die from drunk driving than were KIA in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Oh for sure....

The video-game warriors deserve all the accolades they are receiving. But so do those that served pre-9/11

Honestly I don't think most of them do. I'm not taking away from pre- 9/11 but it was NOT a military war, it was an ideological/economic war. The closest we came to actually going at it with Russia was like Sean said, by proxy.

So what's the difference between a Mess Crank sitting on the USS Nimitz in the Persian Golf in 1985, vs one on the same boat, doing the same thing, in the same water in 2005?

The biggest difference I see, is that the cold war sailor has a Sea Service Deployment ribbon and the Persian Golf War vet has six rows of candy.

Lets start with this one.

That's not my inability to communicate, that's your ignorance.

Reagan did socialized HC first, not Obama.

Ahh....yea from a Naval POV OIF/OEF have been preeeeety fuckin' dull unless you're SOCOM/Aviation. But the difference is there are US forces actively engaging in direct combat operations....on the ground a ways inland.

We never sent troops in to take over and then occupy any of the USSR...we never bombed the piss out of them.

Was the posturing, arms race and political tension off the charts? Did both sides loose a few spy's and almost end the world in the process? Sure...but no one pulled THAT trigger, thank you M.A.D and the instinct for survival!!

Lot's of by proxy wars/conflicts....some we are still paying for today. But it essentially turned it into a money/PR war for the US/USSR.

I already acknowledged and agreed with that. Bot's primary point (whether I truly agree or not) is that the USA and USSR never took to the field directly. I would also add the Iran/Iraq war to your list as my understanding is we funded and helped Iraq and they did the same with Iran. We certainly moved our pawns around and got lots of people killed, even shed some of our blood indirectly.

I'm not in disagreement with you atll.

Well that's because we're in six different "conflicts" if it makes you feel any better most of us couldn't give a shit less about half our ribbons and medals. Other than my Good Cookie I couldn't even tell you what half of them are.

That's all I'm saying.

And yea I don't even have my fruit salad or uniform anymore.....only reason I have my licence plates is because of the parking and other little perks from the state are things that actually help my broken ass out a good bit. Like shamelessly slaming the g-ride up in the broke dick parking on the colder of winter days when the robo legs are all pissy.

I'm male.

Here where we invented the English language, a twat is a cunt. I don't have one, argal (easy Shakespeare reference), I can't be one.

If you mean by calling me female genitalia that I'm stupid, could you please explain why you think that? I suspect you just mean that you disagree with me. If that's the case, you're entitled to your view. But when I post I generally try to make some attempt to substantiate what I say. You should try it sometime. You might even find that HAVING TO THINK reduces your very obvious frustration and ignorance.

Posting on the GB does NOT exempt you from having to use your brain. If you have much of one...

What a twat!

Oh, do shut up, you tedious cunt.

Wait. Is the Scot and the Brit about to start some shit? OMG I've waited my entire life to see this live. Don't start until I get back, Sean I need you to grab a Excaliber and get a guy to follow behind you with coconuts (don't act like you don't know) Scot. . I need to dip half your face in Tidy Bowl cleaner and give a rousing speech about how Sean can kick your ass but you're not gonna lay down and take it.

This is gonna be awesome!

If you're trying to play the silly US game of trying to provoke me, it won't work. You should know that by now...

Provoke you? I just think you're a tedious cunt. Why don't you try and educate us on how many continents there are again?
