I actually don't rant. There are plenty here who do but I don't really do that. However anybody who preaches that money is the root of all evil should consider the absolute blood bath the world would be without it. That's what money ultimately is, an exchange so I don't have to kill you.

We fight considerably less than we would without money however. Basically if I want something you have we have three choices. We exchange money. We exchange goods. (Money is better because it's simpler and constant. None of this, I don't need three chickens, I need a pig. If you can get me a pig. . .I have a pig I don't want but I don't need chickens if you can get me two sheep. . .) or I can kill you and take it. Well you can politely give it to me out of the kindness of your heart but you'll starve to death in short order if you do that.

A strong argument could be made that money is the root of all good.

First, NEM probably does get financial assistance, as they don't possibly have a job since they spend the majority of each day making posts (if not entirely-new threads) against the current President.

Second, anyone who even calls Obie a bad President when he followed-up Dumb-ya & did his level best to help the country recover from GWB's many mistakes (those in the country who weren't killed in the pointless, endless war, anyway) is an idiot.

Also, with our first black President (who also has to deal with Gitmo, injured vets, & other fallout from "Daddy's Doody-head" Dubya's war), it really isn't smart at all to refer to anyone being "uniformed", as I read from at least one poster in this thread.

This is coming from a guy who voted for him - Obama is a C+/B- President. He doesn't seem to have the people skills a president needs. He can't work with Congress, although a lot of that is Congress' fault. He won in 2012, but that's like praising Ohio State for winning the Big Ten - he wasn't going against anybody who was wroth a hot fuck. Granted, it's more than what anyone else wanted to do - and it beats the shit out of the Republicans' "more termites" policy - but it wasn't enough.

I take issue with this statement. I believe President Obama did a fantastic job overcoming 30+ years of inertia and finally making progress towards insuring more people. We have 11 million more insured under the ACA and a shit-ton more under expanded Medicaid.

Is it perfect? Hell no. Single payer would have been infinitely preferable, as Botany Boy continues to remind us. Keep in mind, however, that back in 2009, Senator Judas Lieberman led a small but effective revolt in the Democratic party to keep single payer from even being considered. It was a tough vote with Republicans firmly against the ACA...it would have been impossible to pass with the support of Lieberman, Nelson and Baucus.

Simply put, President Obama got the best deal he could given the cards he was dealt.

I voted for hm both times, too. While we agreed on that, we couldn't disagree more on this.

Obama has people skills, but the crap that matters in just about any government! The reason we have a bicameral government & not a dynasty or dictatorship is so no one person can do whatever the crap they want. The way that screws us is when they have good ideas, the Congress can vote against it. Then, when their good idea doesn't get done (through no fault of their own), we attack them for it by putting even more of the other party/parties in Congress, guaranteeing nothing else they think of will ever come to completion/fruition.

Also, you claim he needed not metaphorical renovations, but to basically blow something up & start over. Well, sorry, but even if the entire government agreed on what needed to get done, that's never gonna happen. I was born in this country (as were my parents, sibling, & all relatives that come to mind), & have spent 98% of my life in it. Even the under-a-week I spent out of it, the USA existed... Which means people existed in it. As long as the country exists & has people living in it legally (regardless of orientation or race), they need some form of health care. Unless the Mayans were a little early, you can't simply start it all over again (unless you wanna go Quebec-like separatist some place), so you have to the best you can, which is what he did & continues to do.
