obamacare RIP! may you retards get a job and pay for it!

dan, you are a fucking idiot. those that have obamacare can only afford it with the supplement aka welfare

You do know most countries in the world subsidize healthcare on some level right?

I take it your e-book sales are going poorly.

Another uninformed bagger type.
Obama care helps WORKING AMERICANS more than non-working Americans.
Turn off Savage, Hannity and the like and learn something.
And for the record it is the red states that are the moocher states.
Yes, conservatives are the real moochers.

Does it really help working Americans?

Granted, I live in one of stupid red states (Texas) which decided to opt out of the federally supported exchanges (because reasons). If my employer wasn't subsidizing the vast majority of my insurance, it would be less expensive for me to just pay the non-insurance penalty on my annual income tax.

I spent a huge chunk of my life without insurance, paying my medical bills as I went. My out of pocket expenses over the entire time I was uninsured equaled a single year of being fully insured before ACA.

My biggest issue with ACA is that it is a half-measure and the worst of both worlds; it didn't, as it was claimed, create competition which would drive down rates, but it did create a huge transfer of wealth from the public at large to the shareholders of the insurance companies. Basically public taxation for the profits of the 1%.

As a nation, we should have, and still need to, go to either a single-payer insurance, or go with a National Health Service.

Much like national defense, public infrastructure, or public education, national health care is not benefited by making one's health and well-being an exploitable commodity.

Job or not, all readers of your threads pay repeatedly.

How about you get a job so you spend less time, make less posts, & create less say-same-things threads here?!

Remarks like this contribute exactly what to the debate?

It also indicates a certain level of intelligence and I'm afraid the direction it points is not promising.

"Those that voted for Obama & not those that will vote for Hillary..."?! Really?! I'd bet a lot that voted for the former would also do so for the latter.

It can't be "that simple" if even you fail to comprehend the BS of your claim.

*waves from over here in "got two jobs and a shitload of credit card debt, plus student loan debt, plus sky-high cost of living, plus car loan, and works her goddamn ass off every day just wanting to be paid a fair, living wage" land*

According to the Washington Post despite healthcare spending levels that are significantly higher than any other country in the world, a baby born in the U.S. is less likely to see his first birthday than one born in Hungary, Poland or Slovakia. Or in Belarus. Or in Cuba, for that matter.

The U.S. rate of 6.1 infant deaths per 1,000 live births masks considerable state-level variation. If Alabama were a country, its rate of 8.7 infant deaths per 1,000 would place it slightly behind Lebanon in the world rankings. Mississippi, with its 9.6 deaths, would be somewhere between Botswana and Bahrain.

First, do you have any reliable source for those infant mortality figures? Second, do you have any statistics for only babies born to adults?

The reason I ask is that the US, especially black females, has a high percentage of out of wedlock births. Many of these births are to young girls, whose bodies are not really developed enough to carry a baby to term, but they get pregnant anyhow and don't do the things that might result in a healthy baby. In addition to this, they often don't know how to take care of a baby, and may not be interested in finding out.

Third, are you referring only to babies dying of natural causes which could have been cured? Or are you also including babies who are killed by crossfire in a gang war or murdered by the boy friends of their mothers or who die because of parental neglect. The best health care systems n the world would be unable to do anything for babies such as these.

The U.S. still tolerates a health care system that is the most wildly expensive in the world yet delivers such lousy outcomes. The richest country on the planet ranks about fifty-seventh in the world in infant mortality and thirty-sixth in life expectancy, reports the World Health Organization. It gets even more embarrassing at the state level. If Mississippi were a country, more children would perish in infancy than in Botswana.
In spite of so-called Obamacare, more than 40 million Americans still lack any health insurance.
Why does this persist? Because the U.S. population has somehow been convinced it wants it that way. Obamacare has actually been reasonably successful, proving coverage to 20 million people who were previously uninsured.
But more and more, facts just don’t matter.
Almost half of Americans dislike the program, a number that rises to more than 80 per cent for Republicans. Congress voted more than 60 times to defund, cancel or delay Obamacare, making this modest effort to insure the uninsured into a high profile political piñata.
Let’s assume for a moment that money does matter. The U.S. spends some $3 trillion per year on health care, more per capita than anywhere else.
Let’s also assume that humans around the world are somehow medically similar — implausible I know, but let’s press on. How much money would be left on the table if the U.S. delivered health care as efficiently as Finland, which has an infant mortality rate less than half that in America?
Finland spends about $3,500 per capita on health care, compared to about $9,500 in the U.S. — a difference of $6,000 for each of the 324 million Americans. Doing the math, America would have a cool $2 trillion in extra walking-around money every year while achieving vastly better health care outcomes if it just copied Finland.
So who gets that extra $2 trillion now? Perhaps the same people who spent $4.2 billion on health care lobbying between 1998 and 2010 — more than any other sector except finance, which shelled out a similar pile of money to hector elected officials. Since 64 per cent of U.S. health care is paid for by the taxpayer, such savings would mean various levels of government would have an additional $1.2 trillion to spend on improved programs, paying down debt or providing tax breaks.

The numbers I have bolded seem awfully high. Do you have any citations for them?

Does that figure of 20 Million include those who had insurance but were forced off their own policies, despite the constantly repeated lie by Obama that would not happen? Does that 40 million include illegal aliens?

Americans have all these freedoms, you know. They're free to have premarital sex, free to participate in gang wars with real guns, and free to neglect their children. Do you suppose something should be done to reduce those kinds of freedoms?

It's what the left wanted! :D

The US has the BEST health care in the world. Period. You CAN NOT receive any better treatment than in a US hospital or specialized clinic. All the other quoted countries and anecdotes that came before, and will no doubt follow, all fight to have their doctors trained in the US.

It's the costs that the US needs to bring down. I'll recognize the costs of becoming the best in the world...if you'll recognize the insanity of 99yr+lifetime patents & open up the War On Drugs to more than weed brownies in Colorado, the US needs more over the counter scriptless meds & APO options for those that do need a script.

Most of the EU do it right, Britain does it okay...the US is either feast or famine. Obamacare was supposed to start bridging the gap, but it failed at it's stated goal.

Signed, a Canadian that had his ankle surgery in Buffalo because Canadian hospitals are frighteningly bad. So bad I trusted a Buffalo clinic more than any hospital in Toronto.

No.
However, nothing should be done to free those who engage in such stupidity from the consequences of their actions either.

When people use the phrase "freedom isn't free," they often use it to justify any number of things.
But hardly, if ever, do they use it to point out that "freedom" has a cost; being responsible for one's own decisions/life choices.

People should and need to be as "free" to be as completely stupid as they choose.
But they also need to be as completely "free" to suffer the consequences of their own stupidity.

That way, natural selection should kick in and "stupid" becomes a survival disadvantage.

Their children also suffer the consequences.
