OCC: Star Wars: Return of the Sith

Yoda, even though he reflected Dooku's lightning, he still used it...

Anyways, using both light and dark side powers can be done... Darth Vader/Anakin could, if he lived after Return of the Jedi.
Sith have light side powers basicaly...

I like your idea QC. I have a few ideas myself, and add to i t to make it good... My guys wont interfear with you guys yet.

Go ahead with the NPC's QC...

If we need, I can probably be anothe Jedi Master on the Conciel... Remember I'm going to kill Kane of later...

Ok, I think we have enough Jedi who can use dark and light side powers... Don't want to over do it.

So long as you aren't interferring, I'm fine.

Well, from what I've seen (and this is just the movies talking, I don't trust the books much, because Lucas disregards them anyway) just about every Sith was at one time, a jedi.

That is why the Jedi are always talking about being turned to the dark side. This is why they know most of the Jedi tricks and secrets, and how they can easily overcome them.

Why do you think the Jedi don't know who Palpatine is? Yoda, Mace, Qui Gonn, and the rest. If a Sith was less than two miles away, don't you think they'd sense him?

No, cause one of the Sith's greatest strengths is how to hide themselves and their powers. In Episode two, it took Mace and Yoda, two of the strongest jedi, to realize who Dooku really was. When Obi Wan had that conversation with him, he didn't know. He sensed something wasn't right, and didn't trust him, but he didn't know.

The jedi don't know the trick of hiding their powers, because they have no reason too. Hiding something is a sign of treachury, of weakness, and embracing the force means you are beyond those things. The dark side of the force, however, is filled with that.

One of the reasons why I invanted that little crystal device.

I believe, and this is just me spouting here, but Lucas wanted the powers of light and dark to be like the Ying and the yang. They are equal in power, but they have their different strengths. The light side is peace and calm and rational thought, while the dark side is strength, power, and corruption.

So, when a Jedi and a Sith fight, it all comes down to who has more control over their side of the force. In Episode 1, after Qui Gonn died, Obi Wan simply ran after Maul and began fighting. With this method, he lost easily, and was almost sucked down that huge trach compactor chute, or whatever... but, after he calmed down for a moment, composed himself, he defeated Maul.

The force is kind of like Karate. the Jedi train to use it for two reasons, defense against the Sith, and to protect the innocent of the universe. The Sith use it for two reasons as well, to destroy the Jedi, and to rule the universe.
At least, that's what I've come up with.

Besides, the only real difference between Sith and Jedi powers I've seen is that lightening stuff that the Sith use.
\

You're pretty much right on target with everything you said, as far as i know.

All Jedi can use both Light and Dark side powers. You don't need any special talent or skill to be able to. The only reason the Jedi don't use Dark Side power is because it is negative energy, or evil, and leads you toward evil uses of it's power.

Luke Skywalker was using Dark Side power when he defeated Vader, after Vader threatened to go after Leia. After he realized what he had done, he threw down his lightsaber instead of continueing down that path. He knew that even though he used it for good (defeating Vader) it would lead him inevitably toward the evil that is the very nature of the Dark Side of the Force. Anakin Skywalker doesn't decide that he's going to be evil all of a sudden, he starts out wanting to do good... we see where it leads him.

I think Paendragon made an excellent point, one which I was going to make if he hadn't said it first.
Perhaps, Orlanth, you can make it so that your character is using the Dark Arts for good purposes, but is slowly turning more evil every time he uses them.
It would be sort of like Viser, every since he has had that crystal on, he's been slowly turning more and more good, and he hates it.

As far as rules go, I don't think we should change any of them just yet. The dark side is still evil, the light side is still good, the pull of the dark side is strong, and once you go down that road it's very hard to go back.
Paen gave the example of Luke in RotJ in the end, I think it was excellent, but there's also a few more. In Ep. 2 Anakin used the dark side, for the first time I think, when he killed those Tuskin Raiders that took and eventually killed his mother. (That look on his face said it all)
Vader actually did break the will of the dark side because the love for his son was stronger. It's just like Lucas to put in something mushy like that in the end. All of this good space fighting, light saber dueling, and in the end, what saves them all?
Love.
Damn hollywood endings.

Yoda is a great Jedi warrior, perhaps one of the greatest ever. He has harnassed abilities most knights haven't even heard about. The ability to reflect lightening, which is a defensive move, is perfectly allowed in the world of Star Wars. It's just like jedi reflecting phaser fire back at the droids or troopers. Only it's a little bit more powerful.

Oh, and finally, I don't think anyone should worry about not enough Jedi. Since I had to get everything ready for the battle, I sort of left Ronag alone for a little bit. He's been a busy little bee though. Once we get through this battle, I'll catch him and his friends up with the rest of the story.

Oh damn, I forgot all about Ronag. wasn't there something about a diminutive alien in there somewhere?

How about this one?

NPC char. #1

Name: Nastasia Vish
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Age: unknown, but fairly young.

Description: Though Nastasia is rarely seen outside of her armor, at least by her "asociates," she is fair and quite beautiful, dainty but strong. Long brown hair, striking blue eyes. The whole bit. The armor however, hides all of this from view. Dark clothing, either brown or black, is dressed with body armor. A belt holds several items, including several types of hand blaster and a retractable grappling cord. Her head is protected from view by a helmet, covering her entire head and protecting it as the body armor would. Though not inpenetrable, the armor is quite effective.

Bio: Raised by her father and aching to be out in the universe instead of on a farming colony in deep space, Nastasia ventured into space with a simple vision. To find adventure. Learning at a young age that her father was the illegitimate child of an infamous bounty hunter (Boba Fett--sp?), she decides to follow in his footsteps and is soon considered one of the best. She quickly finds herself immersed in the struggle between good and evil, beginning with the delivery of an unuual package to a man in black in Cloud City.

You like?
Oh, and I'm going to give her a fake name...Tallik, like Leia had when she entered Jabba's palace, kind of like a security. It just seems right...

Cool. I have a non-Jedi char in the works too. Captain in the Rebel Navy (would they still refer to themselves as th Rebel Navy, or do they have another name now?) in the military. Details to follow later.

Sorry for being so long-winded...had too much ground to cover I guess. Trying to get the Jedi's back to the base and this Mogo, Vaine situation on the move.

Poohive, when is it ok for D'rack to reach the fight. Because he is ready to go into hyperspace.

I can delay him if you eed... In fact, that would make sense.

I just got a idea for a new char'... No, he isn't Sith or Jedi.

Name: Commander Dar Thandar
Stats: 6 feet 190lbs. Good shape, but not incredibly so. Brown hair, brown eyes.
Occupation: Captain of Rebel Light Cruiser Solo (yes, THAT Solo, lol).

Dar is under the command of Jedi Master Kelson, and Raine Du'Vall (I hope that's ok?).

The light cruiser is one grade of ship down from either a Star Destroyer, or a Mon Calamari Star Cruiser. It's usually the type of ship that would be assigned to escort the larger ships, or patrol planets and trade routes in defense from pirates. It's a formidable ship, with two squadrons of fighters aboard, but couldn't stand toe to toe with either of the larger ships in a fight. Again, if anyone wants to place a character on board the ship, or in command of a squadron of fighters, go for it.

The Solo is only now returning to Mached V from extended patrol, and while it is not nearly strong enough to take on any of the attacking ships, it could be a way for the Jedi to escape from the planet if needed.

I figured that any planet with a base on it would have at least SOME ships of its own. Let me know if the character is ok. I'll wait before writing about it.

Hmmmmmmm.... post 666. Oh my God, I am the Devil!!!

I think it is stupid not to put Episode 4-6 on DVD... I would buy them as soon as they come out, and so would a heck of a lot of people.

I dont wanna have to buy a $ 200 VCR, just so I can watch 3 moves. I already own a Xbox whitch runs DVD Movies...

Look at how much money they could make of it, and Star Wars is up to over 20 years old, and still making money <==== Good fucking deal if ya' ask me!

What you mean by "late 93 at the earliest"?

Late 93 as in 2093??? I am gonna be dead by then. Or is that 9/03 ???

Why did you need time alone? :D ;)

I read in a mag, which said that Spiderman was trying to beat LOTR to DVD, and that Attack of the Clones was going to try beat Spiderman.

It sounds to good to be true though.

LOL ...

edit: hey post 1990

LotR is coming out in August & re-release in November of this year

LOTR comes out on the 6th of August on DVD here in Australi... LOTR 2 comes out on Cinamras on Boxing day.

F or Australia. I expect diffrent times for USA...

August 6th here as well, unless they release DVD and VHS at different times, which I don't believe they do. SPiderman and Attack of the Clones are still in theatres...look for both at Christmas, though I'm just guessing given marketing trends of the past. Only makes sense that Christmas will be their release time.

Moving

Hey everyone, I'm moving today, and am about to break down my computer. I won't have it up and running again until at least Tuesday, so I won't be able to post. If I'm holding things up too much, feel free to post for my character, just try to keep them in character as much as possible. Thanks, P.

Yes, that's what I thought would happen for Episode 1. It came out in May (I believe, possible a month before or after) and I thought it would come to video for the christmas holiday, but it didn't. The video wasn't released for nearly a year.
Perhaps Lucas has learned the error of his ways and will give it a reasonable release time. I hope so.

Orlanth, as soon as the Jedi have finally given up, and retreat to space, you can come in there and save them. Although, at that point they won't need saving, but with all those ships around, it will look like they did.

Ronag's last post is a couple of pages back. I think page 8 or 9. Once things finally cool down, I'll pick it up right where it was left off. Don't worry, I won't undermine anything... yet.
Just going to rattle a few of cages.

Eh, I don't really want to be commanding all the men at the base. It is fine that I am at the very top, but shouldn't I have officers around telling the others to do? I don't believe, with the exception of Yoda's kickass airborne assault, that Jedi commonly lead soldiers like that. Of course, all I know about Star Wars is what I've seen in the movies and played, for a short while, in a star wars rpg (I love AD&D, so my DM one week tried out Star Wars with us, very nice...*sighs longedly wishing his DM hadn't moved out west to CA*)

Alright, I'm back.

That's a good point Kelson. The Jedi might not even be in command of the base. That's not to say they aren't respected, and that there orders to the troops aren't followed, but it makes sense that there would be a General in command. Or a Colonel or something. We could just use an NPC, I suppose. I'll have Dar's naval superior already dead, in the battle over the planet.

Well, Kelson, you were the one in charge before, telling the troops to go look at the explosion, taking everyone's saber's, and ordering the rescue and detainment of the Sith and her jedi padawan.
I just naturally assumed since you controlled everything else, you'd control this too.
If you don't want to though, then you don't have to, but someone does.
It's kind of weird having a battle between hundreds of troopers and droids, and only a couple of jedi. The rebel fighters haven't done a thing besides die and warn of the other attacks.
I would volunteer, but then, I'd sort of be fighting myself, and that wouldn't be any fun. Besides, I'd probably make the jedi lose anyway, lol, not that they are going to win, but I'd hurt them even further.
So, right now we need a volunteer.
