WATCH: Al Franken systematically destroys the Trump administration’s talking points on Comey firing

On Wednesday, Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) took to the Senate floor to discuss Tuesday’s firing of FBI Director James Comey and the facts as we currently know them pertaining to the investigation of President Donald Trump and his associates’ connections to the Russian government.

We know that the Russians mounted a complex operation to interfere with the 2016 U.S. election. We also know, Franken said, that they did this with the intent of helping former reality TV game show host Trump, hindering Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and undermining public confidence in the election system.

“These facts have been confirmed by our intelligence agencies,” Franken said. “What we don’t yet fully understand is all the reasons why the Russians favored Donald Trump and whether members of his campaign assisted in the Russian operation to sway the election in his favor.”

These questions are the subject of an active and ongoing investigation.

“The timing of Mr. Comey’s dismissal raises questions,” Franken said, “and Mr. Trump’s decision to abruptly fire the man leading an investigation that could implicate the Trump administration should shock the conscience of every American who believes that no man or woman is above the law.”

...the problem is that there is no normal. It's either crazy far right or crazy far left. This is not sustainable.

Overall health and QOL is at an all-time low, whereas healthcare costs are at an all-time high. We are all in debt, and our country is in debt. Stress has become a "normal" thing for the average American citizen. Mental health is either too difficult for America to grasp or something America is not interested in. Sports players make millions playing a game and emergency response crews make just a bit more than fast food employees.

The answer is getting rid of Trump. The answer is electing X. The answer is working hard. The answer is getting an education. The answer is making our economy stronger. The answer is less socialism and more capitalism. The answer is god.

Is this... hell? Is this one of the shitty versions of the universes in the multiverse theory? Am I a character in a book? ...or maybe a movie like the Truman Show. Is this solipsism?

President Trump has been caught exaggerating and lying multiple times. But in what may be his biggest lie yet, Trump continues to insist that when James Comey still headed the FBI he told the President three separate times that he was not a target of the bureau’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign.

If Trump is being truthful, then Comey violated his duty as head of the FBI by improperly disclosing details of an on-going investigation. Those who know Comey well insist he would never have done that.

The guy was a lousy dirty cop. He is very lucky Hillary wasn't elected or he would have had a heart attack or committed suicide with an antique pistol. The Democrats hated him for attacking Clinton. He was just as guilty of disobeying President Obama as he was of President Trump. The Democrats are on record from top to bottom of wanting his job. The fact that they don't now means they were lying then or lying now. Trump gave him a chance to be a good cop, but he failed. As president he had the same rights that Obama had in firing anyone under his Administration that he felt was a failure.

Have you notice that the fake news clowns are so stupid that they can only stick to one thought and truly believe that the world is flat. That the only stories happening in the world or either Hollywood Reality shows that they spend time reporting on or the fake reality shows out of Washington. They don't realize that there are other things, real stories, happening in the world. It is good that the majority of the American people and most of the world have no respect for them and don't take them serious. Even the dictators who they praise treat American "reporters" with contempt.

Sure there are a small band of loud mouths like on these sites (the same group of so called marchers that show up and "protest" and never know what they are "protesting" against) that are so brain dead that they truly believe the lies they are told and repeat the "party" line over and over. They try to force their fake lies on us as they try to force their poorly educated beliefs on us. It doesn't work, but they like the fake media and the left wing of the Democratic Party just don't see it.

FBI tells Trump to cancel visit because he’s ‘unlikely to be greeted warmly’ after Comey debacle

On Thursday after President Donald Trump gave an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt in which he trashed former FBI Director James Comey — calling Comey a “grandstander” and a “showboat” — the White House announced that Trump’s planned visit to FBI Headquarters has been canceled.

MSNBC’s Peter Alexander was doing a live appearance from the White House when news came in on his phone that the president has canceled his visit, which he intended as a goodwill mission in the wake of dismissing Comey.

“The FBI told the White House the optics would not be good,” Alexander said. “FBI officials apparently said the president was unlikely to be greeted warmly after having just unceremoniously fired a very popular director.”

New Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) served as an attorney general and district attorney, so she knows a thing or two about investigations into powerful people. When it comes to the firing of former FBI Director James Comey, Harris sees red flags.

“There’s nothing about this that is normal,” she told CNN’s Jake Tapper Thursday about the firing of Comey and the conversations he had with Trump. “It is the practice of law enforcement, especially when we’re conducting an investigation, that we never talk to someone who may be in the zone of our investigation and tell them that they are not someone we are looking at. That just does not happen.”

Trump said in an NBC interview with Lester Holt that he spoke with Comey three times and asked the former FBI director if he was being investigated. Trump said that Comey replied that he was not being investigated.

“Let’s again put it in context over the last 48 hours,” she continued. “Would the American public and what we know is that the Russians interfered with the election of the president of the United States. There is an investigation that is taking place, one by the Senate Intelligence Committee, which I am a member, and the other the FBI. And during the course of the investigation, a potential target of that investigation fires the person who was in charge of the investigation. So, there is everything wrong with that.”

A virulent hypocrite, Chaffetz had up till now refused to adequately investigate the Trump/Russia connections with the same zeal with which he persecuted Clinton. He liked investigating Democrats, Republicans less so.

Today, he finally took a haltering step towards developing a spine.

In an uncharacteristic move, Chaffetz has requested that Inspector General Michael Horowitz look into Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey.

Trump ought to be removed, if only to allow Washington to get on with our real problems. So maybe with the House and Senate investigations, two DOJ and a possible IG investigation, the chances are good that one of them will find some old bones and pin Trump to the wall.

Then Progressives can take on Pence with some momentum.:)

Well Trump has claimed Obama "Tapped his phone."

Adam Shiff has seen more of the evidence than almost anyone, if he says there is evidence, we'll just have to wait for him to produce it.

We may have to wait for the impeachment to actually see the evidence. The way Congress has been not working it may not be until 2020 that they release it though.
 
Trump obviously has a hard time with technology. In his youth you 'tapped' phones. And used steam powered catapults. Fucker is stuck back in the 60s. Things were better back when...
