yup. every now and again on a long cold (to my southern family) day, H'll make a big old pot of beans. they're okay... H seasons them up nice and spicy.

Have you had ramps yet? Where we used to ride fourwheelers just north of Oak Ridge, it was totally a thang there.. and they'd cook them in garlic.

Soup beans and cornbread is my favorite food. I can live on them.

Has to be good cornbread though. For some reason my gf doesn't put like... this bitch tried to serve me basically corn meal and water, like a fuckin Johnny Cake, like we were on the Oregan trail, like one step up from hardtack.

I ain't never hit a woman but I bit into that and wanted to slap the shit out of her.

Why do people eat bland fucking food? Soup beans you can get away with because then I can season it myself later, but the bread is what it is. Anyway she doesn't get to make cornbread anymore. I make it now. Because I don't hate myself and my family.

Edit: She fuckin steams okra too, bitch has lost her goddamn mind. We got into an actual fight about okra one time. Like you know how when you're in a relationship you get in dumbass screaming fights over stupid shit? We did that over okra.

And it's never JUST about the okra, the hidden deeper meaning was that I smoke and all I ever eat is deep fried bullshit or candy and I'm gonna die. And she's right but Jesus Christ I simply can't. I can't eat the way she wants me to. I can't live on unseasoned meat and steamed veggies.

She legit tried to throw away my deep fryer. She set the lid on fire. I don't think on purpose, but it was right after the fight so maybe on purpose.

Okra is a contentious subject in my house, so sorry if I seem too passionate.

Edit 2: And that fucking air fryer is bullshit, if anyone is wondering. It ain't worth having. Yes, it's healthier, but at what cost? It's an oven. That's all it is. A smaller, shittier oven taking up counter space.

and being a smoker with a love for fried food and candy, your gf may have a point about your taste buds and worries for your health but fresh, barely cooked veggies have a LOT of flavour. steaming doesn't dilute teh flavour like boiling or mask it like breading
