...us Brits have been commenting on your politics, way of life, constituttion and anything else we wanted to over the last few weeks. Well, since Florida anyway.
But we have produced our own homegrown idiots over the years it's just that they've been quiet for a while.
Now Geoffery Archer is being tried at the Old Bailey for perjury. A few years back he was involved in a prostitute scandal involving deception, blackmail, secret meetings on Victoria Station and pay offs to the said prostitute ("I was repaying a loan your honour!"). This was duly reported in one of our national newspapers which Old Lord Archer prosecuted for libel. The newspaper lost the case and was ordered to pay a few million pounds to Geoff.
You would think that he would make sure he kept his friend sweet and happy wouldn't you. But no. During our recent election for Mayor of London, Archer was one of the candidates, but withdrew when his one time friend confessed to the previous perjury. The newspaper now wants its money back and he has been charged by the police and is being tried at the Old Bailey.
Once again he is denying it all.
His original actions which were reported by the newspaper were so bizarre that even the original libel judge said they were worthy of one of his novels.
So you see we're not immune to fools.
