Old School Musicianship… Rock and Roll.. Jazz… Blues… Big Band even…

I’m not a big Eagles fan, but that is a great song. 🥰🥰🥰
The Eagles are kind of hit or miss for me, too. However, I really love the song “On the Border”. They’re not a band that you think of as having a groove, but on this track, they really find a great groove, especially the section towards the middle that leads to the end of the song. This is easily my favorite song of theirs.

Birthday wishes to one of my favorite guitarist/singers, Mr. George Thorogood, born this day, February 24, 1950. He may not be the best singer or best player out there, but he takes what he has and turns it all up to 11. I think that's why I'm such a fan of his.

This is an old Elmore James song, covered by everyone and their mothers. George's take on it is probably my favorite, but I'm obviously biased (and with no apologies).

When Mother’s Finest hit the scene, they suffered from the inability of radio programmers and record stores to fit them into one of the convenient buckets. They were too soulful for the rock stations and too heavy for the soul stations. Luckily, they found a following in Europe but only achieved moderate success here.

Joyce Kennedy is a vastly underrated vocalist, but she’s as good as anyone who ever grabbed a microphone, in my opinion.

Birthday wishes for the late George Harrison, born this day, February 25, 1943. My two favorite Georges have birthdays back-to-back, what are the odds of that? Taken way too soon from us, but we have a wonderful catalog of his music to remember him by.

This might be my new jam. This just popped up on a jazz-funk playlist on Spotify, and I’ve replayed it three times now.

Birthday wishes to the late Bob "Bear" Hite, former lead singer of Canned Heat, born this day, February 26, 1943. He had a really distinct voice that made him stand out from other singers.
