Old School Musicianship… Rock and Roll.. Jazz… Blues… Big Band even…

but early Van Halen is just brilliance at work! 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰

It is brilliance and their musicianship is off the charts, like on this song. Eddie's guitar is great as always, but I think Alex's drums and Michael's bass really drive it.

Birthday wishes to Mick Jagger, born this day, July 26, 1943, 81 years young and still touring. And regardless of all the memes you see out there, he's actually older than Keith Richards by about five months. He's recorded tons of songs, both with the Stones and on his own. I was going to go with Satisfaction, but I opted for this one as I like it better. It came out a few months before the former, and was still a top 10 hit, and it's a classic.

I love that song. I remember listening to that song as a little kid and pondering what it meant. I didn’t get it figured out (I was really young)… funny how I generally didn’t pay much attention to lyrics but there are a few songs like this that I did. The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia was another.

Darn you @BrendaD you put that song into my head and I had pull it up and listen to it otherwise it'd keep bugging me 😁 It is a good song, by the way.

I understand about not paying attention to the lyrics. I did pretty much the same thing listening to songs on the radio. For me, I'd be more focused on how the words fit the melody, and they'd flow into the music so I'd only get a partial reading from the lyrics. Of course, some songs would be exceptions. Funny how the mind works like that.

Been listening to some Rolling Stones today, inspired by Mick's birthday yesterday, mainly from my CD copy of Hot Rocks (can't find my copy of More Hot Rocks and it's annoying me but it'll turn up sometime I'm sure). I have to listen to them more often because I miss out on hearing songs like this, which you don't even hear on the oldies stations anymore.

That is such a great song!! I agree, that stuff is so cool! But in all fairness, I don’t even listen to oldies stations anymore. 🤣🤣🤣

Now I want to find the Stones tune about being 2000 light years from home (or something like that)

The local oldies station where I live mostly play 70s to 90s with a heavy emphasis on the 80s. Sometimes I'll stumble across a station I can stream, usually through Youtube. I really have to look for one, especially if they play some more obscure music.

And I think this is the one you're looking for, It has a real psychedelic feel to it.

Yeah!! That’s it!!! Thanks for finding it. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

During the late 80’s is when I lost faith in “modern music”. To me, it just kept getting more and more lame. By the time Nirvana came onto the scene, I had abandoned new music entirely. If it wasn’t for friends, I wouldn’t have heard them either.

But early Stones? Oh yeah!!!

Why this song right now?? No idea. But it's so much fun, anytime is a good time for it. 🥰🥰🥰

I hear your game, and raise you some dancing in the moonlight.

Because... what be better than dancing in the moonlight?

I haven't posted this song in a while... well... I don't remember when I did last... but I love this song...
