On the Run (Closed)

Alec held his hands up, surrendering as he backed away from Jade, showing her that he wouldn't harm her. In fact, she knew nothing about him, and here he was touching her, asking about her personal history. he backed away and smiled softly at her from his new position on the bed as he layed on his back and looked at her.

"Yeah, I don't want to use too much of the old woman's things, run her bill up too high for the cause of us two. I didn't mean to get too personal for you, I'm sorry. You look tired, you should lay down."

Nodding she moved to the other side of the bed and laid down close to the edge on her side her hair covering her shoulder and the scar she stared at the wall still nervously biting at her lip but finally laying down in something that was not the car sleep quickly over took her. She had rested for about 30 minutes when her rest became troubled. Tossing and turning as her dreams slowly became nightmares.

Suddenly sitting up she looked around for a moment a tad disoriented. Slowly calming as she realized she was still on the road and on the run. Taking a deep breath to calm herself she glanced around for her apparent new room mate hoping he had not been in the room when the nightmares hit.

Alec watched carefully as she moved to the far left side of the bed, her body folding up as she layed down, her hair splaying out over her shoulder, drawing his curiosity to the scar upon her shoulder once more. He wondered what it was from, if her husband had possibly hurt her. Coming from where she was now, he probably had. Alec felt his anger flare at the thought, but he wouldn't press her for the truth, not yet any how.

He slowly moved to the bed, laying down partially in the middle, wanting her to know that he wouldn't hurt her, that she could trust him. After a few minutes, he heard her breath coming out evenly, her slumber overtaking her as he smiled softly at the thought. He turned to his side, watching her sleep for some time until his lids became heavy and he began to drift off, until he felt the bed move.

Alec sat up quickly, more like jumped as he looked around the room, looking for any sign of danger. His breath was coming out in quick pants as he realized foolishly that nobody was here, they hadn't found him, yet. Or her, for that matter. Which reminded him. He turned his body, looking at the girl on the bed next to him, Jade.

She had been the reason for his wake, for his scare. He watched as she sat up and looked around the room, her breath also bated, her eyes scared as she took a deep breath, realization hitting her. He gave her a weak smile as he layed back down next to her and looked at her closely.

"Would you mind if I held you? It might help you sleep easier." He told her softly, his voice husky from the little slumber he had gotten.

Nodding she was still rattled by the nightmare and needing something safe to hold onto even if it was a total stranger. She laid back down biting her lip a little she laid there on her side facing away from him a little tense unsure what really to make of anything at the moment.

She curled up and let sleep take her away again feeling safer if only a little now while being held.

A light smile appeared on his face as she agreed. If he were telling the truth, he had requested to hold her not for only her behalf, but for his as well. It had been many days and nights since he had last had a body in bed with him, even if it were an innocent act.

Watching as she layed back down, her teeth latched onto her bottom lip, Alec slowly moved his body behind her, an arm wrapping around her waist and pulling her back against his body, his chest pressing to her back as he layed his head on his pillow, his warm breath coating the back of her neck as he closed his eyes and felt sleep tugging at him already, knowing that he could sleep comfortably now, knowing that she was safe in his arms.

"It's okay, you're safe. I've got you now." He whispered to her as he began to drift off.

She just nodded a little relaxing some once they were both comfortable and not moving any more. Her eyes falling closed once more as she gave back into sleep. It felt strange to have someone holding her but just as he had said... safe. The warm breath not reeking of stale tobacco or beer was a relief too.

Safe...

One word faintly falling from her lips as she fell back to sleep.

Alex sleeps through most of the night, her warm body being held in his arms enough to keep him asleep. Most nights, he would wake early in the morning, always on alert. She soothed him in a way, his body relaxing enough to let him get his full eight hours of sleep, plus some.

When awakening, he felt a heavy weight on his chest, realizing it was the girl, Jade. He let out a soft breath as he yawned, running his hand through her hair as somehow during the night, she most have rolled over. He was on his back, her head laying on his chest, her body warm. He looked at the clock on the bedside, realizing it was noon already. He smiled sheerly at the fact that he had slept through the night before gently running his hand through her hair once more.

"Hey." He said softly. "Jade, it's twelve o' clock." He told her in soft tones, not wanting to startle her.

Slowly waking up realizing that she was still there with him.

I can't believe I slept that late....

She realized what had done it... a calm heartbeat and warm body next to her. So peaceful and calm. She smiled looking at his face before slowly moving to sit up on the edge of the bed.

I guess we should get ready and head to the diner..
