On the run (Closed)

Mark walked out of the laundry room and past Jaidyn sitting on the sofa. He saw a little smile on her face. "I am going to hang in my room until my laundry is finished. I don't have anything that is clean, and I don't think that it would be right to sit out here with you in just a towel."

He walked over to his room and closed the door behind him. He laid down on the bed but he could not go to sleep. It just felt weird to be laying in a comfortable bed.

Yeah thats fine.

She sat there relaxing till sleep finally overtook her and she drifted to sleep there on the couch finally fully feeling at peace

He dozed off in the bed for a while. Then he awoke with a start. He jumped up and it took him a couple of seconds to figure out where he was. H listened intently once he realized where he was. He wanted to make sure everything was okay.

He walked out to check on Jaidyn. She was sound asleep on the sofa. Ten he went into the laundry room and put his clothes into the dryer. When he came back out he saw that Jaidyn was still asleep and decided it was best not to wake her. H went back into his room, closed the door, and went into his bag. He pulled out the gun that he had been traveling with and placed it under the pillow. He wasn't going to let it out of his reach.

She woke up as dreams of fighting with her ex now she guessed turned her dreams dark and painful. Fully waking with a yelp holding her wrist for a moment being still briefly even though awake still locked in the memory that tore her from her rest.

He heard a short scream and jumped from the bed. Grabbing the gun from under his pillow he rushed out of his bedroom and into the room where Jaidyn was asleep. He looked around, and saw nothing. He walked over to her, still in only the towel, and asked her, "are you okay?"

She bit her lip seeing the gun but nodded.

Yeah... bad dream I guess... I'm... I'm okay

She curled up on the couch and sighed.

Really its nothing

"Are you sure you are ok?" When he felt that she was ok, he walked into the laundry room and grabbed his clothes out of the dryer. As he walked back to his room he looked over at Jaidyn. "If you need anything, or if you just want to talk, let me know."

She could not take her eyes off of the gun.

Okay... yeah...

Sh was not sure if she should feel safe or scared.

Once he was back in his room, he realized that he should have concealed the gun a little more, but then he realized how hard it would have been to hide it when he was just wearing a towel.

He thought about how ridiculous he must have looked coming out of the room in a towel and carrying a gun. He also thought about the fact that he might have frightened Jaidyn more. He started to throw his clean clothes into his bag. Then, he dropped the towel as he began to get dressed.

She got up and walked around then figured she might see what was sent for them to have to eat and took out some food and began heating things up. Chicken and various sides not sure what he would want. Knocking on the door to his room.

I... I heated up some stuff if ya want anything to eat its done.

Mark pulled on a pair of jeans and went to the door. Opening it, he thanked her and said that he just needed to grab a shirt and he would be right out. After pulling on the shirt he walked out to the kitchen and looked at the food that had been sent with them. "Wow, she really sent a lot over. I bet it is all great, too. Thanks for heating it up. That was really nice of you."

Shrugging she was fairly quiet. He seemed nice enough but the gun she saw had slightly set her on edge.

Why... why do you have a gun?

She had grown up around a place where the older generations tended to have old guns and rifles but not so much the younger generations unless hunting.

He looked at Jaidyn after she asked the question. "I am sorry if I scared you more than you already were. There is a very bad man that wants to do bad things to me. I refuse to go down without a fight. If he or his men are going to hurt me, I am going to inflict a great deal of suffering on them. I will keep it out of sight from now on. I was just afraid that something was happening to you and I wanted to be able to protect you."

Someone interested in protecting her... She was not sure what to make of that. Her mind raced but unconsciously she smiled hearing his words about protecting her.

I guess that is a good thing to have around then... I don't know... if he will come after his car or me...

She barely realized what she was saying.

I left... ran... when he was... off with who knows who... and that was a week or two ago I think... been running for so long.

"Listen, if there is anything I can help you with, just let me know. I am sorry if I scared you. I guess we have something in common with the running away from something."

He wanted to hug her, but he was afraid of her taking it the wrong way. He didn't want to do it in a sexual way, although, she was extremely attractive. He just wanted to comfort her and let her know that he was willing to be her friend.

She nodded to him but was so deep in processing what she had done and was still doing she continued to talk barely registering that she was pouring all of this out to a near stranger.

I really don't know when he will realize I am gone or if he will care or if he will just have someone else in line after his latest plaything or whatever.

He stayed quiet and listened to her. It seemed that she needed to talk about it. He took her hand and held it lightly. He wanted to make sure that she understood that he was not going to hurt her. It wasn't a gallant thing to do, but he just wanted her to know she had a friend.

She looked at his hand holding hers and bit her lip a little. It was nonthreatening and almost calming as she fell silent. Looking into his eyes she tried to relax more as she tried to smile a little showing she remotely understood his holding her hand.

"You know where I am if you need anything....or just need to talk. I am always on the lookout for things that are out of place. I constantly look for threats. If I see anything that doesn't look right, I will let you know."

He squeezed her hand a little. "In the mean time we should put your car in the barn so that it is out of sight. Just in case somebody happens by. It is a sweet car and it stands out."

She nodded and started for her purse to get the keys.

If you wanna help thats fine

She felt safer even though she barely knew him. He was non threatening and really cute.

He watched her get her keys. She looked really good. His mind wandered to things he would like to do with her.....things he would to her. Quickly, his mind snapped into the present. He went to the door and looked around. Nothing seemed out of place. Everything seemed okay. "You get the car. I will go open the barn door."

Walking out she started up the car and pulled it towards the barn. Had she caught him watching her? She wasn't sure but still he was not threatening even though she knew about the gun this might be nice.

He waited until she pulled into the garage, then he closed the doors behind her. He walked in through the small entry door, and told her to pull it up into the first stall. He followed her, and when she exited the car they came face-to-face. H hesitated for a moment, being so close to her. Then he said, "it should be just fine here. Nobody will see it." Only then did he step back from her.

She bit her lip as her eyes were staring into his when they came so close together

Yeah... thanks

When he stepped away she moved fairly quickly as instinct did not like that cornered feeling even though it wasn't her ex standing before her this time and just her programmed reaction of escape from entrapment.

He followed her out of the barn. He stopped and closed the barn door. When he turned back around she was gone. He assumed that she had gone inside the house. As he walked toward the porch he wondered if he had done something wrong.... something to upset her.
