One month sober today

So I'm new here and nobody knows me, but I realized that today marks one month since I had an alcoholic drink.
Its been a hard journey but I am getting better every day. And I had no idea that drinking as much as I was had blocked me both from writing and from enjoying others' writing. I've written about 100k words in the last month.
Now, if my brain could just work on re-learning how sleeping and eating works without alcohol and pot (gave that up about 2 weeks ago when I realized I was just substituting it for drinking) I would be all set! (I went to bed at 9:30 pm with a cold. It’s 3 am and I am wide awake.)
Congratulations hope all continues well

Wish I had better news. Chugged a nip of whiskey on the fucking street at 9 am.
That must've been a sight - I'm in an embroidered sweater, nails done, beard trimmed, brass-handle gentleman's walking cane. Sucking cheap whiskey in front of the grocery store.
what the fuck even am I.

cycle of recovery. I can come back around. but right now I hate it.
Start over, you can do this.

Hi Colton
We haven't heard from you for a while, how is the journey going? How are the students, how is life. I saw you had some sugery, how is the recovery from that?
I ask because I care as do so many others on here.

Keep going , after 50 years I gave up smoking, haven,t had one in 23 months, we can do it, be strong

I realized I don't actually know my exact day count anymore.

I could try to figure it out but I don't think it matters as much.

I'm just appreciating the lessening of the cravings and the way it's not in my thoughts so much.

That's a great place to be. Counting days motivates some people, it usually helps at the start of the sobriety journey, but after a while you won't always need to count.
Moving away from an addiction of any kind is incredibly tough, but hopefully with each passing week, you feel happier and stronger. Enjoy the journey and walk tall with pride. We all stumble in life, not everyone gets back up.
Wishing you all the best. 👌
