One-star trolls

You stated that violence is unacceptable, and I wanted to remind you how easily people downvote fine writing simply because they deem it "unacceptable."
You just explained what you regard as violence in this context, and what you would consequently downvote as unacceptable

Personally, I suspect very few here will downvote for spanking, seems very popular; as to the rest, there are a lotta views. Already said it’s about what’s bad - including what’s not arousing - not what’s a particular kink
(Edit - btw if I found a particular kink unappealing, which perhaps seems to be your insinuation; I’m not gonna be in that category to see it and know how good or bad it is)

I think from your tone - and apologetic hugs if I misread - you just wanna find a point to score, so let’s just assume you scored it and move on

People don’t change, so growing a thicker skin isn’t an option. However, choosing to accept a certain amount of discomfort and frustration is within your control.

First, people change all the time.

Second, the rest of your comment is contradictory. Accepting discomfort and frustration is actually the first steps in thickening one's skin. ;)

Well - maddening for us as authors perhaps. But that’s feedback isn’t it. They didn’t like it
In terms of the story, it's worthless information. There's nothing you can do with it and it doesn't tell other readers anything about whether or not they'll enjoy the story. If you had readers push a random key on their keyboard, they'd receive the same amount of useful information as a rating that isn't connected with reading the story.

Even the rater doesn't know if they would enjoy the story when they don't read it. You can guess it's because they don't like the genre or keywords, but you have to guess because that is not included information.

That excludes all action genres and most suspense/drama genres. Should I be ashamed for enjoying Tarantino and Westerns? Your statement is pretty broad.
I think they meant gratuitous violence as being the kink itself. Torture and the like. I have had comments from readers who have issues with a 'reluctant' scene as being violence against women. But the story was posted in Non consent and the woman in the story could have left and chose for whatever reason to take what was dealt.

As you go further you will find some of your poorly rated stories get many reads and comments. My lowest scoring story is about 2.7 right now. For the first 9 months after it was published, I averaged a comment a day. Now I get maybe a couple a week.
I wrote a sequel to a popular story showing it from the cheating wife's perspective. Of course she would not think her actions were so wrong. She was a little mentally ill in the first story so I pushed that issue. Readers hated it! They hated that she came out ahead in the end. I keep it on the list anyway. The rest of my stories seem to be around 4 or above, maybe a few high 3's in there. (i do not look at all of them, just the ones I get comments.)
Switching your latest story from exhibition (3 chapters) to submit the 4th to LW was where you made your first mistake.

Kill Bill and 300 were orgies of violence and blood, with the violence as the main appeal, and I enjoyed them. Homo sapiens are the only species that derive pleasure from violence. Eating meat is violence against other species. Hypocrisy, ignorance, and a glaring lack of self-awareness are hallmarks of the 1-bombers.

Nobody here is talking about Kill Bill or any other movie… just about the content on the site

I switched because the first chapters were all E/V, but chapter 4 fits better as LW. And I did knowing I'd get lots of hateful comments. I don't actually mind those—they're usually absurd. Oddly, my earlier stories only got comments from LW chapters, while I was getting good feedback (actual helpful comments) from E/V with this story.

What I didn't anticipate was that the earlier chapters would get no-read 1-star votes once ch. 4 debuted as LW. Hopefully, in the end, I get a larger audience for it. I think it's a good story, but it intentionally breaks a lot of LW tropes and is the kind of story I want to write.

Yes, but the difference we are talking here is sexual violence, not shoot em up get revenge in the wildest way kind. Read some of Saddletramps stuff. The good guys come an lay waste to the bad guys in several. But he does NOT describe slowly cutting off a woman's nipple and then getting off on her as she screams.

Big difference in the two.

Assuming you mean your latest. It's in Loving Wives. That's par for the course there.
I inadvertantly posted that story to LW instead of Romance and it turned out to be a big hit (almost 4.7, over 2000 votes, 130 comments) because it's a sweet love story.
