Oh, Can I join? Can I-Can I? I'm actually rereading the entire series so I can have a fresh memory for Pillars of Creation.

Name: Egan Reustwich
Age: 37
Height: 6'5"
Hair: Blond
Eyes: Blue
Land: The Former D'hara, now center of the D'haran Empire.
Occupation: Former Mord Sith trainer.

Bio: As a Mord Sith Trainer, he tortured young girls to the brink of insanity, making them the perfect weapons for Lord Rahl. As a 'true' D'haran, he also felt the link. But, because of Panis's cruelty, and his own hatred for what he was doing, he rebelled against his duty.

As he is no longer loyal to Lord Rahl, he can no longer use the weapon of choice. His left arm is useless, tied behind his back by leather straps, a lasting show of his 'escape' and how one of his 'students' managed to catch up to him. He weilds a short swords and hates anything remotely connected to the House of Rahl.

Wearsplain forest garb, and is very brutal and speaks little.

Very nice, Grandmage, you'll be a welcome addition, You're in. Just so you know, its still just D'Hara, not an empire yet, as those events from the books wont happen for another twenty years. At this point, D'Hara has not invaded the midlands (except for seizing Renwold, which is not being regarded as a direct attack by either the Mother Confessor or the Council) and is still at the point of launching its assault against The Old World. Have fun, and the main storyline is in The Summons. Nothing has happened there yet, so just enter and base your character from the initial comment by Shota.

Hope I'm not too late

Name: Cullen Mansfield
Age: 17
Height 6'
Hair:Brown
Eyes: Brown
Land: East of Tamarang
Occupation: Former Farmer, but currently a Wanderer

Bio: Cullen had been sent to Tamarang by his father to get supplies for the farm. He comes home to find that the farm has been ravaged, his house has been pillaged and destroyed, and both of his parents murdered.

Cullen has some sword skills his father taught him. He also has a little knowledge of the land. His father had taught him about herbs and their properties, but alas Cullen spent more of his time daydreaming about other things. Because of this he really only knows vaguely about agriculture, though he acts like he knows more. Angered, confused, and upset Cullen now wonders what to do and where to go since everything he had is gone................

Accepted, Darkscribe, and welcome to the thread. And the forum, for that matter. the main thread is called The Summons, I look forward to seeing you there.
(And no, its not too late, everybody who's been accepted is still busy assembling, so you've arrived at the perfect time.)

Actually, you're wrong. Reread the first book. The map is defined by the borders of the start of Richard's journeys. Panis Rahl conquered all of D'hara, which was once a smaller collection of Kingdoms, like the Midlands. And if he took over Renwold, he would have had to control those countries or would be pushing his armies through others. (Not to mentaion Renwold is surrounded by others countries {you'd have to march through and only The People's Peace Army of Darken Rahl was welcome enough to just waqlk through} and the wilds, and although a fortress of a city, is nowhere near the shore, so why take it over ifyou wanted to have a port, especially since D'hara ends, like Westland, at the ocean, probably nearer to the boundries of the Old World than any other. Or the fact that Panis never went looking for the boxes or any other magic, but had his son taught for that instead and wanted to rule the world through invasion....)

But, hey, whatever. I don't care. The entire point is that, even before the invasion of the Midlands, it was the D'haran Empire, that's why so few people feel the direct bonding as strong as the blond and blue-eyed 'true' D'harans of the origional country.

So, bah to you and your 'not an empire yet', it most certainly is.

Well, in no particular order...
1) Renwold actually is a country, with the Capital city by the same name, and at this point in history is bordered by the coast to the south, the barrier lands to the east, the Callisidrin River to the west, and mountains to the north, which seperate it from the Azrith Plains in D'Hara.
2)You're right about D'Hara fitting the description of an empire at this point, due to the fact that so many countries were brought under one banner, it was simply my impression that the actual term "D'Haran Empire" was reserved for after the Midlands became included.
3)He took Renwold, instead of simply crossing the ocean from D'Hara, because he wanted to be able to disembark at Grafen Harbor, something he would not have been able to do had he crossed on the north side of the barrier.
4)As for the Boxes of Orden, and certain other things, for the purposes of this storyline I am ascribing certain motivations and attitudes from Darken Rahl onto his father, due to the fact that Panis Rahl's goal, the conquoring of the Midlands, will not come to fruition in this thread. He must therefore have some goal, and it is logical to assume that were he to have the same goal as Darken, that being to rule the world through magical means, he might have much of the same information and plan to do so in a similar way.
5)As for pushing through other areas of the Midlands in order to take D'Hara, I must admit I didn't leave enough detail about that part in my outline. How about this...
Panis Rahl, along with the rest of the D'Haran army, was able to push through the surrounding lands with minimal resistance, such small kingdoms being unable to mount an effective defense against such a large horde. In truth, officials in such places were reluctant to commit themselves entirely to the idea anyway, having already been swayed by offers of wealth and security from D'Haran representatives. Moving in such a fashion, the army was able to reach and seize control of Renwold in a relatively short period of time, and was already firmly entrenched before any sizeable resistance could be marshalled against him.

The original outline can continue from here.

btw, despite the annoyance I may feel at having someone else come along to second-guess my descriptions, feel free to continue doing so. All of the above were perfectly valid points, showing a lack of detail on my part, if not full ignorance.
It'll be nice to have such an expert on the series here, so I don't have to do all the legwork.

Hey, I didn't come here to chew holes in the plot, man. I'm only responding to you insinuating that I don't know what I'm talking about when I create a character based on my favorite books.

And don't look to me for legwork, I'm too lazy to add much to anything.

hehehe. Sorry, wasn't trying to insinuate anything, I'm just in the habit of correcting details that I think are wrong because there's so many people in here that havn't read the books.

Name: Benedict D'Morne

Age: 32

Height: 6'2"

Physical Descrip: Mid lenght blonde hair, green eyes, 5 o'clock shadow. Muscular build.

Weapons: One sword with his name inscirbed on the blade.

Bio: Benedict awakens on the shores of the Old World, not knowing who he is or how he got there. He's not even sure Benedict is his real name, he just assumes so because it is etched onto his blade. He seems to be a skilled knight but his amnesia disorientes him a bit in battle.

Hello everyone, this is just a little explanation as to where I've been. My grandma had some heart problems over the last few days and had heart surgery. I've been with her since last Friday. I'll be returning home this evening, so I should be joining up with you soon. I hope I haven't missed to much that my character has become obscure... :(

Welcome back Beethoven, sorry to hear that.
You havn't missed much, the thread is only just starting to really get under way.
Hope your grandma feels better!

I'm sorry to hear about your Grandmother Beethoven. I hope she gets well. Both of my living Grandparents have had heart problems in the past year, so I understand the worry.

As for your character, don't worry about being obscure, I haven't written anything specific for your character, but I have mentioned my character looking back at the two women while we were travelling to the town, so you're with us. You're just a little quiet. :) I'll make sure to have Darren check her out a few times (he's a lecher anyway), just in case you can't get online tonight. Your character seems to be a bit introspective anyway, so her silence wouldn't be that unusual. It'll be great to have you back. Paen.

OOC:
I'm staying out of the thread until tomorrow night, unless someone chooses to come looking for Alicia. This would make a good time for everyone to explore the details of their characters, e.g. Lord Kenshin, Beethoven'sFire, feel free to speak up, you've only got 3 and 2 posts each, respectively, although I know there's reasons why you've been absent so long.

Also, if anybody decides to not be in the thread anymore, please let me know, I'll come up with something in the plot to allow your character to exit, whether it be permanent or temporary is up to you.

IC:

Name: Gryphon
Age: 24

Abilities:
As a boy he lerned about herds and healing from his mother and father.
Not like the rest of Jangangs group of thugs he learned all he could about wilderness survival.

Standing 6’6” normally wearing white pants no shirt with a black hooded cloak and a battle-axe strapped to his back with gold rings in his ear and nose.

Bio:
As a young boy of 14 he was taken by jagangs troops to be a fighter, hearing his family screaming he was taken, knowing his sister was alive because she was away Gryphon fought to stay alive and made it into jagangs army. Slowly he fought his way to a sergeant position, he has never backed away from a fight and earned his share of scars. When jangang died Gryphon took this chance to get away to find his only family he has left a sister that had to be at least age between 18 and 21.

Sorry BlackOcean, due to its prophetic nature, this thread is open to only a certain number of people, and can no longer accept new members.

Hi everyone. I'm going to be out of town until next thursday. Could you all please keep my character going if I'm holding things up? Just remember, he's arrogant, and never backs down from anyone, is brave to a fault (sometimes gets him in over his head), and is a bit of a ladies man. Just keep 'noticing him while I'm gone... I don't want it to seem too strange when I pop back in next week. Thanks, Paen.

*Scooches in*

Alrighty folks, looks like I'm taking over Lord Kenshin's character Omar Light. I'm going to keep most of the things about his character to keep confusion to a minimum. I am changing his name though.

Char Name: Kyle Morganth (was going to use Dalen, but realized paendragon is Darren so.... )

Occupation: Adventurer, Smith

Height: 5'9"

Weight: 187lbs

Gear: A large hooded cloak hangs over his shoulders, he has a long sword in a sheath to his right side, and a small dagger in his belt on the left. Underneath the cloak is a fine plate mail that he wielded together himself. He has a medallion around his neck and a small bracelet on his wrist.

Age: 19

Eyes: Emerald

Hair: Dusty Blonde

Skills: Excellent at bending metals into any known weapon. Above average with a sword; Mediocre with a bow; fairly good with throwing knives.

Bio: His father was a councilor in Aydindril, and wanted his son to grow up and follow his steps in the realm of politics. After his mother died though, his tie was severed and he left. He wound up lost in the Midlands after hearing that there would be a large skirmish there. There apprenticed himself to a blacksmith, where he also learned swordplay.

Thanks Blaze. I hope people keep interested in this game, I love this world and can't wait to see what is in store for us.

Hehehe, I think you'll like whats in store, it springs directly from my imagination, and thats a dark future indeed...
And the Old World has so little mention in the books, leaving me oh so very much room to play with the setting and creatures involved...

Blaze

Don't worry, you'll survive.
Probably.
I'm a big fan of the options approach:
create the adventure, replete with certain options that they can take along the way.
One option always equals easy winning. (hard to find)
most options just continue the thread normally.
And one option always means a very high chance of death or defeat.(also rare)

Its kindof like the old D&D games, in a dungeon.
The main doors all lead onward, but I always have two hidden doors, one is a shortcut with easy enemies and lots of goodies, the other has a pissed-off Dragon or Archlich or something.

hehehe
Makes for an interesting adventure.
Kindof the fantasy RPG version of russian Roulette.

Think you could let me know when we come to the big intersection, so I can think reaaaaaaally hard before replying?

*Hopeful eyes and smile*

If not... hey, I'm a good D&D player.
There was only that one incident involving my ranger, goblin dung, and a princess. Oh, and another involving a ranger of mine with no pants. Oops, and that one where my ranger tried to shoot a goblin king with a crossbow.... in the dark. Ooh, and that one time I jumped into the dragons mouth with my sword....

Hmm, on second thought, I don't have a prayer.

Take measurements on my box now fellas, if there is enough left to put in that box by the time I finally expire and go to greet the Keeper.
