OOC/Casting Call: Resident Evil (yes, again)

"I look like a serial killer. How bizarre. Hey, look over there!"
*pulls out his handy-dandy power drill. Because guns are for the sane*

Anyway, yeah,...no one's answered my question...
Go for the brain?

I mean, I know I wouldn't know this, but it'd be helpful to know once we get into it so I don't fall behind going, "Should it be dead? Ehh? Should it?"

hell yeah, go for the brain, my weapon of choice has to be the mcdonald's straw (other straws don't have the required rigidity)

lol.

Yeah, but is it rigid enough to pierce the skull?

As rigid as say,...that four iron he picked up when he ran that foursome over again and again with their own golf cart?

if it bends, that makes the whole recipe a little more difficult. my preferred method is to make a small entry hole and extract by hanging upside down over bowl. sprinkle with icing sugar, and serve chilled with pineapple, simple but very eloquent

quiet_cool, FYI, the quote you put as unknown sounds a lot like nietzsche, the eternal recurrence argument - live dangerously, for are we not floating through infinite nothingness? from thus spake zarathustra

yeah, im just showing off now

Can i join? Resident evil is kick arse!

bio:-
Name:Sarah Hill
Age:24
Hair: Dark brown
Eyes:Blue

Sarah had a happy childhood. Her parents were employee's of Umbrella Corp, But this all changed when her parents where killed in a car accident when she was 16 years old. Alway's believing that the death of her parent's wasn't an accident and Umbrella was some how involved. Sarah swore to revenge the death of her parent's and to bring Umbrella down. With this in mind she trained day and night in hand to hand combat and small fire arm's.

A shot to the head might do it, but perhaps enough shots to the body make it give out as well. In the games, the zombies were never all that strong, just ganged up on you most of the time. The dogs and the Spiders we'll have to make head and body shots, like they're more or less alive, but stronger than the zombies, and usually more dangerous.
Let's just make sure we keep all the enemies as a danger to the characters involved, not overpower them to the point where they don't matter any more. Bats are mostly just bats, and the same with those....crows? Body or head shots will do it.
Now, back to the basics, so we can post this thing. If we decide with haste, I can post the first one tonight or tomorrow.
I'll look up Ray and post him shortly.
Now, where and when? The zombies have taken over, and are overrunning the city? Things are just starting to heat up, and our characters somehow all manage to get stuck together in the mansion? Should we make limitations to how much they can carry, meaning each one can carry only a few items.?
Oh, and if this goes well, I plan to add in little things like in the game, where you have to collect this item and take it there, and whatnot. Hopefully, it doesn't get too aggravating for anyone. If it does, it isn't like I won't give hints...

akazie,

First off, welcome, and yes you can join. Secondly, I like the character, except it doesn't all make sense. First off, come up with a reason why she would suspect Umbrelle (easy enough I'm sure), and secondly, if she suspects a corporation, why is she training to fight when she should be hiring lawyers? Once you tie those up, she's ready to roll. Just remember the basic Rp rules. No overpowerful characters, and only the person playing a character can make decisions for them. Welcome to RE, and Lit....

Q_C

Ummm. When=Now.
Where=Mountain forest town of,...who cares.

Umm, items. How about,...
Five weapons, ten non-weapons?

Fifteen items total. That sounds about good. You know, once you have a shotgun and a chainsaw you don't wanna be carryin' too much more. Ha-ha.

And pens count as weapons. So do straws. Ha-ha.

Perhaps we could get a starting inventory?
3 non-weapons, one weapon? Have to give up your non-weapons in order to pick up a firearm?

I also think we should be able to collect non-weapons, and build them into weapons. Moltov cocktails,...cigarette lighters with hairspray...

Chancing of running across them would be low, but it would be cool.

Fifteen seems like a high number. It would work wonders in the games, but not in RP, where we're not really competeing with the enemy.
Maybe Eight non-weapons items, and three weapons, depending on the size. I don't think it would be right to allow someone to carry a shotgun, a grenade launcher, and an Assault Rifle. But if they had, say, a knife, and baseball bat and a shotgun, or a handgun, a machete, and an axe, then we can understand the carriage factor.
As for starting weapons? How about each person gets one, and no items unless they're personal ones, useless items that don't really factor in, at least not yet. Maybe a child's necklace or some other keepsake of rememberance, or maybe even a lighter, if it has no fluid in it just yet.
As I said before, I want control over when and where the more powerful enemies present themselves. That said, I also want to approve or disapprove when major weapons are brought into play. I don't mind if you find a baseball bat or write in your own zombies to beat around, so long as no one takes it upon themselves to superman their way through more than a few zombies with a hand weapon. But if a licker comes into play, I want to make the call as to when and where. The same with the items that may help you out. If you find lighter fluid, it's with my consent. Anyone have any issues with this suggestion?
This would stand true for those rare hand-made items like hairspray flame-throwers and such, as well. GM, I'm not certain just yet whether or not a power driss is a weapon in our case...?

Oh, and GM, I meant when as in when during the spread of the "infestation" of zombies and other cretures did we want to start?

And while I'm here:

Name: Ray Daniels
Gender: Male
Age: 27

Character Description: Ray is 6-1, about 195 lbs, slightly muscular. He usually wear jeans and T-shirt (often black) and usually a long brown trench coat. His eyes are brown, and his short hair is light brown, often covered by a black bandana. His only distinguishing marks are scars, mostly small ones, but a few large ones, including one on his right upper arm. He keeps them well-covered and is very self-conscious about them.

Bio: Ray is in town in search of his siter, who's been missing for three months. He's a police officer from a bordering town who's fourteen year-old sister has runaway and he suspects she has come here. He'd just arrived as things were getting the best of the town. Eventhough he sees what is happening, he refuses to leave until he knows his sister isn't in town.

Eight and three works.

Hey-hey, I'm a gonna need something large to start with. Like an axe. Or a big fucking wrench. Because I'm fuckin' CRAZY.

And I do need a few items that have no pupose. Seeing as how I talk to them.

Maybe a book,...a shoelace,...and an empty bottle of aspirin?

Well lookey what we got here. The newest incarnation of RE. If you will have me, I am in QC. I will try to keep up with this one. I had a pretty good character in the Mars Attacks thread that I would like to bring over if that is cool with you. I will figure out a back story. Let me know.

Chewey

Hmm ... I really must tell Khaddy about this thread ... Since he was in the last one too ...

Hiya QC!

Been a while, Arc. And Chewey, sorry to hear you've given up on the Dragon Wars thread. I just didn't know what to do next in it, to tell the truth.
As for the character you have, Chewey, you'll have to post him and we'll see if he'll convert well, but whether he/she does or not, you're always welcome in my threads. you know that.
Hopefully, we can all keep up, as hasn't been the way for some of us as of late (guilty, grin).

Anyway, gang, I'm thinking I should post our ideas concerning limitations on the first post of the thread, to let any newcomers know how things work and whatnot, and to give ourselves a quick reference. I'll do that sooner or later. Hopefully sooner, eh?

Thank's Q_C for the welcome and your input for my character.
I will try again.

bio:
Name: Sarah Hill
Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Blue

Sarah had a happy childhood. Her parents were employee's of Umbrella Corp, But this all changed when her parents where killed in a car accident when she was 16 years old.

One day as Sarah was cleaning out her father's study, She stumbled on her father's journal. Sarah sat there and read the last entery that her father had entered.

exsert from journal:
12 may 1998
Umbrella have gone to far this time, i have to stop them but first i must get my family out of recoon city and to safty as i fear that umbrella will stop at nothing to keep their secert's from being revealed. Yes, Once Karen(Sarahs mum) and Sarah are safe i will go to the police and the newspapers to make known what Umbrella are doing. They must be stopped!

Sarah started to wonder if her parents death was an accident or did Umbrella find out about her father's plan and decided the only way to keep their serect safe was to kill her father. Sarah didn't know what to do, her father seemed scared that Umbrella would stop at nothing to keep their secert safe, Umbrella is just so powerful that if she did go to the police would they believe her, would she be next to be in a so called 'accident'.

Sarah had to find out if her parents death was a accident or was Umbrella behind it. Sarah knew the only way she could do this was to join S.T.A.R.S.
As a result of becoming a S.T.A.R.S member Sarah has become skilled in hand to hand combat and small fire arms.

i hope this is okay

Akazie,
Excellent explanation. More believable than I actually would have asked for, to tell the truth.
She's in.
Do you think you'll be needing more STARS members to travel with her, at first, I mean, if not later. Make it a mission going into the city like in the original RE. I can provide as many NPCs as we might need.
So, we're going with Raccoon City, after the plague has spread to throughout the city?

Sure, sounds fun.

But, uhh, how exactly is this virus spread?
Like I said before-I haven't like, played the games or anything, and since I will be playing a crazy-ass motherfucker, I thought I should know.

And if he should, say, be infected,...umm,...should I let him go as an NPC and claim some pathetic surviving asshole, or do you think his overriding insanity and the drugs he was subjected to previously could turn him into a controllable zombie?

I mean, he'll still want to kill the others, but not, like, be a mindless asshole zombie? "Ehh, why are you bothered by the fact I want to kill you? I wanted to kill you before, you know."

I'm just throwing far-fetched ideas out here. Feel free to shoot them down. I won't be hurt.

yeah Q_C that sounds sweet, maybe a team of 8-10 S.T.A.R.S members

thought i would post this for people that dont know much about Resident Evil.

T-Virus

When the body dies, a residue electrical energy remains in the body, thus our hair and nails continue to grow for a short while as the pulses stimulate cell reproduction. This energy takes up to months to dissipate, and it is this fact that became the bases for the T-virus.

Genetically engineered virus was designed to feed the residue electrical pulses that remain in the body when you die. Thus prolonging life. The T-virus was supposed to be a medical breakthrough that could cure all diseases and even extend life, but practice and theory did not match.
Rather than to extend life, the T-virus reanimated the dead, feeding the electrical pulses giving the dead basic motor functions, but as the brain had only very little activity, the reanimated dead became driven by the basic instinct to feed, thus creating mindless zombies.

The T-virus soon mutated to adapt to it's environment switching from airborne to transmit by body fluids. So when an infected subjuct wounds someone, he or she becomes infected as well.
But the T-virus does not take effect until death incurs. However the T-virus has a mutating property that corrupts basic cell structure as well. This means that people are killed slowly by pneumonia-like symptoms and their bodies wither. The T-virus keeps the body alive, thus effectively turning the living into zombies.

Pneumonia sucks.

So, whenever you're wounded, your infected. How fast does it spread?

I mean, let's say Taranis gets bitten in, say, the forearm. In response, he chops off his arm. How long would it take for the T-viris to move from the wound to the rest of him.

I mean, just as fast as it would take for the blood to circulate.

"OW! AAAAAHHHHHHH! Fuck, Taranis! What the fuck!?"

"You can thank me later. Looks like a nasty bite you got on that arm, friend. We should patch up your shoulder before you bleed to death."

And I'll do it, too. If I see it, I'll chop off the infected areas. Ha-ha. Whether you want your character infect or not. Bwahahaha!

Resident Evil

For those of you who haven't played the games, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY reccomend watching the movie. It's worth the 2 bucks to rent it, it's about 2 hours, and it explains almost everything you'll need to know to play this thread. It's got a pretty decent story line as well...

QC, as for the limits with carrying stuff, i think we should keep it resonable. For instance, a room key will not take the same amount of space as, say, a handgun or something. As long as the items your carrying seems reasonable.

As for how bad the infestation is, i say we start just as its getting bad enough to force us from our lives and seek shelter (forcing us to meet and work together then)

Okay, we can do that, Drake. If everyone else is okay with it, the thread'll begin when things are just getting bad. We'll just have to make sure we make them bad fast enough that our characters won't be able to run out of town. LOL
As for the semantics, thanx for the technical info on the T-virus, akazie. Informative and helpful for all. We can use the info as directed, but a little sway on how accurately we use it might be in order at times. For instance, the T-virus might work quickly on one character, and not so fast on another, depending on what we need from said characters before they die. The severity of the wound would also play a part in how quickly the infection spreads, I'm sure, so we have a lein to gets things working our way.
Hopefully, you guys are near ready for the first post. Tonight or tomorrow, I'm putting it up, depending on how well my creative juices flow before I have to go offline.

Oh, and Clare, you can play if you wish, but let's leave the recently dead to rest in peace...

Cool.

Just don't forget: I'm a demented serial killer and authorities should be on the lookout.

And I've probably killed someone recently, so I should be on the news.

I want to make sure the others have plenty of chances to go, "He could kill us, or help us kill them. Damn. Do I shoot the psycho or no?"
