OOC: Hentai Space Opera

How about Tina getting sidelined by the two Neon girls on her way out? Perhaps the candle had a different cultural significance than she realised and it may lead to an embarrassing faux pas should she fail to respond to their approach correctly.

Selacia wouldn't have meant to do this in a mean way, but not knowing that Blaze had already 'helped out' her roommate a little she'd have meant the candle to act as a way for Tina to get laid with one of the other Neon on the station, not realising Tina would gift it to two of them at once, leading to a whole different state of affairs.

First let me say I love the pics you posted...especially flattered that you created one for your new privateer group. I like what you wrote and don't see a problem with your requests. As to the candle, a fertility statue among all females, that's interesting but I'm sure cultures have encounters leading up to impregnation.

On a side note an online acquaintance from the UK, had an erotic story about a lesbian cult that developed through science a way for females to get each other pregnant. The Neons I assume are conventional since there are males and females...Syreen are all female, but clone. Pimmons clone, but that's more minor in their society. They tend to use artificial wombs so a female can go about her life without having to carry a child.

I should post some interesting facts soon.

Umm... actually I didn't. The Xenonauts were a group of 'black ops' specialists who were part of the original Battlestar Galactica universe and the poster was a vintage find advertising their book series (hence the Cylon raiders in the top left, the older style Viper fighter in the bottom right and the original book cover model of the Battlestar on the top right.)

I was just trying to imply that by gifting the fertility symbol to the two girls Tina was inviting them to perform Jamaharon with her, rather than getting her pregnant. No one actually knows what jamaharon in other than those who've visited Risa, and so pretty much anything goes for what you'd like her to end up getting involved in.

Pregnancy wouldn't really fit well though, since Tina's itching to get into combat and carrying a baby would just make things too complicated for her right now.

And the Cho are entirely cloned with 'Progenitors' being chosen approximately once a generation to act as the genetic template for the next batch of broodspawn. Once chosen the Progenitor's genetic material is harvested and used to map a new genome which is then used to produce all the Cho for a given specialty for the next generation. As such only the Cho seen to exemplify their career path most clearly is ever chosen as a Progenitor, and being chosen is seen as the highest honour which can be bestowed on any Cho.

They're born fully grown, with genetically implanted knowledge suitable for their expected professions, although their society is still open to individuals choosing a career path other than the one expected of them. One of their greatest generals, Inganekwane Edlala, had been intended to be an entertainer specialising in dance and physical performance but ended up becoming a master strategist by blending her genetic memories with military training to form unique and creative military tactics.

There are both male and female Cho, although this is only really by nostalgic tradition more than any biological necessity. Most Cho are born sterile and while a very, very few can become pregnant so far they've shown no sign of being capable of interspecies transgenesis. In recent years some Cho scientists have postulated that alien genetic material added to the clone pool would allow for newer, stronger variants of the Cho to be spawned, but so far the Ruling Council have been resistant to the proposal due to the inherent instability of such blendings.

As a side note, the 'Cho language' is actually bastardised Zulu, and all the names I've used for characters so far actually have literal translations, for example Indodakazi Indlovukazi Umoya Izinkanyezi roughly translates as 'Princess of the Star Spirits' (the daughter of the queen of the spirit of the stars) and Wapha'kahle (Wapha kahle) translates as 'Well-fed Man' (or alternately 'well endowed', make of that what you will.)

I'd seen the art before, but I took the name from somewhere else. I like BSG....one of the inspirations for this thread. So many people copy directly on Lit to the point of assigning established characters. I like when people get creative.

At the very least a gesture of kindness or possibly a gesture of wanting to participate in a pleasurable ritual.

Ah a Jango Fett for whatever profession or art. So your Cho is among the well regarded because of her crew and I imagine others?

So one doesn't need to conform to society's prescribed destiny. They wish to paint or work in a library they aren't barred from trying.

So they won't be adding anything to their special recipe, and the odds of anything happening purely by accident is unlikely.

Interesting I've had fun researching names for characters as well.

The fact she'd given a symbol of the fertility goddess to the two girls would be a pretty heavy come-on for the Neons, pretty much the equivalent of a human girl walking up to someone in the street, flipping up her skirt, dropping her panties and then rubbing her fingers over her shaved, engorged and dripping cunt while winking back at them and licking her lips.

Ah a Jango Fett for whatever profession or art. So your Cho is among the well regarded because of her crew and I imagine others?
Exactly, but rather than just having a 'super-soldier' they'd also have a super-scientist, super-artist, super-diplomat, super-trader, not to forget the super-whore, along with many others.

All of Kazi's crew are part of her own brood, and so would appear physically identical to her. Each has their own distinctive helmet, something which helps both Cho and other races to tell each other apart, however Kazi knows them all intimately enough to be able to recognise her 'sisters' individually even when totally naked.

Having been chosen as an extra-national trade representative Kazi's position is quite high in the eyes of her people, but her place as a Progenitor is in no way secured right now. There's still several other contenders out there who could be chosen as the super-trader for the current generation and unless she manages to pull off some outstanding piece of negotiation one of them may be chosen over her instead.

So one doesn't need to conform to society's prescribed destiny. They wish to paint or work in a library they aren't barred from trying.
Some of the greatest achievements have come about from unexpected sources. A mathematician may find a new harmonic waveform which makes for good music, a chef may devise a new form of biochemical warfare and a whore may turn out to be a highly skilled diplomat.

With thousands, if not millions of copies of the same person Cho society has the spare material to allow for a few to fall by the wayside should they fail at their attempt at trying something unexpected.

So they won't be adding anything to their special recipe, and the odds of anything happening purely by accident is unlikely.
The geneticists have been known to mix in material from different Cho Progenitors when crafting the next generation, but so far no non-Cho genetic materials have been used.

The scientists tend to play safe as far as new blends go, preferring to err on the side of a stable and healthy genome over an experimental leap forwards which would grant their race 'super-Cho' abilities. As far as they're concerned the Cho have all the time in the universe to slowly cautiously edge towards the next evolutionary leap rather than charging at it without due care and attention.

Jezebel,

Since the Cho are a genetically engineered race, have they reached the level of mastery over the genome that they have mastered the brain and brain chemistry? Has psychiatry and psychology research become unnecessary over time since there is no need to examine the mind for defect since it has been crafted to be perfect? Are there philosophers that debate whether or not their species halted at the advent of their cloning technology and we are seeing echoes of that decision?

I guess my questions come from a consideration over what the Cho consider the condition of their race. I'm sure making the decision to genetically engineer their progeny from now to eternity was met with some skepticism and reluctance; is there still an element of that within the race or have the gene-crafters learned to work the mind so that such questions never arise?

As you describe them more and more, I fail to see the need to keep the emotions of physical attraction or lust as such feelings lead to actions which serve no purpose. Now, Kazi and others in the trader class could see them as advantageous and a possible bargaining tactic, but I would disagree that the population at large would hang on to a pre-cloning remnant such as sexuality.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and explanations regarding your creation.

NEONs

JKT will back me up on this. I'm happy that the Neons are getting some play in this game. If you have any questions about them I'll be happy toanswer them. And yes there are male Neons. Most are limited to their home world. Only very wealth families have male Neons that can leave the planetary system and that is as diplomates.

While it is possible to see yellow and orange females. They would be students or tourist. The BLUES are professional entertainers and sex trade providers. While having sex with a yello or orange is also possoble. It would be just for fun on thier part. Yellows and oranges will return to their home planet to mate.

The Cho were engineered by the Glutons, before being ordered to eradicate their parent race during a civil war, and while they have enough knowledge to be able to clone new, pure and stable generations every few years they haven't the knowledge to functionally manipulate their genomes.

This is why they've resorted to the 'eugenics' method of weeding through the population to find the prime examples of each caste, rather than simply building the perfect model at the genetic level and doing away with the competitive side of their nature altogether.

Has psychiatry and psychology research become unnecessary over time since there is no need to examine the mind for defect since it has been crafted to be perfect?
If anything the average Cho is even more neurotic than an average human, as they're told from 'birth' that they've been made as a 'perfect' version of what they're supposed to be and then have to compete against their brood batch to prove that they are somehow better than all the duplicates. This leads to a fear of being deemed 'imperfect' or flawed in any way, as it will lead to the individual being forgotten to history.

In truth between 10-15% of each generation suffer from nervous breakdowns due to the social pressures to excel, while a further 20-25% tend to live unhappy lives which fail to live up to their potential. 40-50% usually provide some level of excellence which helps the Cho race to expand and prosper and the remaining 10-30% represent the high-flying achievers and Progenitor candidates on whom the next brood will be based.

For the record, Kazi would be one of the high class group, having proved herself a talented trader and negotiator and earnt a role representing her people in the galaxy.

Are there philosophers that debate whether or not their species halted at the advent of their cloning technology and we are seeing echoes of that decision?
Philosophy tends to be quite prevalent amongst the Cho, with all walks of life leaning towards an introspective and contemplative attitude towards life, and the question of the future of the Cho race is raised by almost every generation.

Some see the scientific means to achieve perfection as a flawed process, as without a clear definition for what 'perfection' is it would be impossible to tell if a brood has achieved the desired goal or not. This group tend to support a drive to cure the Cho's inherent sterility so they can breed naturally, rather than relying on cloning for propagation.

Others argue that the inherent chaotic nature of the natural evolutionary process would be more dangerous, as the results could be more harmful than good.

The question of whether the species halted at the advent of cloning is rarely raised, since there's no record of who or what the Cho were before the Glutons modified them into the creatures they are today and so there's no way to tell whether the slow, steady development granted by the Progenitor cloning methods used are actually more, less or equal in effectiveness to whatever social, biological and technological methods may have been used in the past.

I'm sure making the decision to genetically engineer their progeny from now to eternity was met with some skepticism and reluctance; is there still an element of that within the race or have the gene-crafters learned to work the mind so that such questions never arise?
Since the Cho weren't the ones who made the decision, and instead are simply working from the position the Glutons left them in once their race were destroyed, the ethics of the decision are often hotly debated.

With no record of their past some Cho see the Glutons as saviours who took the primitive creatures they once were and crafted an enlightened, advanced race who are capable of determining their own future for themselves. Others see themselves as a slave race, conquered by the Cho and mutated for their own ends.

This group often point out that the vestigial sexual organs present in all Cho, as well as the existence of different genders, show that their former Masters must have had some sordid plans for their creations, as the need for gender roles is worthless to a cloned race of living weapons.

Sexuality exists in differing levels within the different classes, and as you said the traders, diplomats and entertainers tend to have heightened emotions compared to the soldiers, workers and scientists. However experiments in previous generations have show emotional stimuli to be highly valuable traits in all walks of life and even soldiers have some level of emotional context with which to motivate their actions.

Forming deep friendships and familial bonds with their squads, for example, tends to improve both unit morale and long-term survival rates for the group, and with a sexual element these bonds can become even stronger. Overall Cho society approves of these groupings, and often military squads are connected on a group sexual level involving all the members to improve their unit cohesion. In fact the military tend to disapprove of monogamous relationships amongst soldiers as they then place greater concern on the survival of their bond-mate

Really its a case of emotional control over actions, rather than pure sexual acts for the physical need of them. in some circumstances sexual intimacy has also become a currency, circumventing the more abstract rewards given in other cultures. What I mean by that is that in human society people strive to become rich so that they can present themselves as a better breeding partner and attract a more viable sexual partner, and so they may perform actions and be rewarded with money which is then used to improve their chances of finding a suitable mate.

With the Cho in cases where the actions are being performed for someone who would be an appealing sexual partner, for example Kazi, the person performing the action would be willing to take sexual congress with her as a viable payment, rather than taking money, buying some flowers and taking a less attractive partner out on a date with the remote possibility that at the end of the courtship they might be allowed to touch one of her secondary sexual characteristics.

More info about new races is always helpful

Thanks for taking the time to answer all those questions. They just poured out of my head so I was sure how coherent they all were. I think I have a much better picture now and look forward to writing the scenes where Dash meets Kazi. :)

Some people are out of action at the moment....(all have given me personnel reasons and they wish to return). Others have promised to jump in but haven't. Everyone bear with me and we'll keep having fun writing together. I'll be out and about the next few days, but I plan to return full force soon.

Updates soon and always looking for more to join us on the Battlestation. Thousand of possible character types, and we always have room for new and creative writers who like all kinds of science fiction. Have an idea, but not sure it will fit? Post it here and we'll see what we can workout. I love what people are doing here, but love seeing more ideas. I come from a writing background, but when it comes to roleplay I like table top, because it's unlimited in what you can do. Well besides what you agree on. You're limited though in how many can participate though. That isn't the case here though and I want to encourage more people to take part.

Well boys and girls it looks like it is time to shut down this thread due to lack of interest. I know several people have mentioned they have obligations, and I'm glad it is only real world issues that keep them away. Seems many did like it and only a few lost interest. As usual the biggest enemy has been time. I will take some of the blame because of how I setup the thread.

There were a lot of options and while I won't say there was to many I think the thread needed stronger ties. Reasons you were all together, and even just reasons for you to bump into each other. A vast space station gives people plenty of places to go as well as projects of their own. Also more of a clear direction of what kind of thread I was running.

I saw some great character and plot ideas though and I think there are some very creative people here on Lit. So many time I've been put off by brief badly done posts, but I didn't see that here at all. I enjoyed it and it was a great writing exercise. I even think I might use some of this if I every launch a play-by-email game. It has inspired me and given me ideas...

Might launch something again soon once I'm done with an exhausting training schedule.
