OOC: Portal to Adventure

Mind if i tag along with the rest of the gang?

I'm torn between a monk or a bard.....

Yay!!

Okay, my character will be majoring in Philosophy with a minor in Romance Languages. *grins*

Its okay. The game of D&D is only a setting for what happens after the friends gather for the game. Once they are transported they will be living in a 'real' world that is based on magic and mythology. From that point on it is your imaginations that count.

Curses! Sucked into yet another thread!

Isolde, you are just not a nice person. ;)
You just had to come up with a thread idea that I could not resist!

No worries on the knowledge of D&D from me; I've played for the last... damn, has it been 20 years already?

Started at age 12... yep.

Anyhoo, barring objections from previous posters, it would seem that a cleric would be the most use. I would need a bit more information about the 'game' world before I could say which deity I worship, though it will be elven. Alia Sidhe, High Elven Priest of *****, at your service. Oh, and since this is based on an actual character of mine, I'm going to stretch myself a bit, and stick to her actual character. In the campaign in which she is played, she is a High Priestess of Correllon Latherion, main god of the Elves. If, however, my playing a female is too weird for anyone, or if more guys are needed to balance things out, a quick gender-reversal can occur.

My 'real-world' character is also me, a Computer Science student, graduating next year. [My second degree; my first was in Business, with half a degree in Chemistry and Physics]

Thank you, um, I mean curse you! dear lady, for providing such an interesting setting.

*Very Big Grin* Neale if it gives me the opportunity to role play with you once again, I will accept that title! Welcome to our thread. And with such a big group a cleric is just what is needed. If lostinn still wants to be a cleric too we might just do two as there is probably going to be a lot of healing needed. *evil grin* And I have no objections about the gender if no one else has.

We will be starting soon. My partner is going to work on the opening thread and post either Tues or Wed and I look forward to playing with all of you.

Never

... have I played AD&D or D&D. But in the real world, I'm a major in advanced physics and also a major in advanced trigonometry with a minor in advanced and foreign language. In the mystical world, I'll be the afforementioned Paladin, human, and a good guy. Not an Anti-Paladin. Although, they are pretty cool.

Sounds good, Morgoth, and that will be great for the thread. Imoen is working on the first post now so we should be starting soon.

I've settled on being a bard.....since i'm currently teaching myself how to play the guitar ;op

So i guess that would make me a music student? I'm not very keyed in on the american system so i'm gonna need a hand from somebody pretty pretty pulease?

Hmmmm

Hi, would it be alright if i join u? i've played D&D for a lil while when one of my firends started DMing a game. Well when i started reaidn ghits post i wnated to be a ranger, but sumone righ tb4 me took it, so are we goign to be playing with Kits? (for those that know stuff about d&D) Kits are variants on the normal calsses? I am an experianced Ranger, or a Samurai. They are a kit for the fightercalss. They can focus their strength, but must have a master or beocme a Ronin, which is prettymcuh dishonored? any of this be okie? hehe and if anyoen needs to know stuf about ktis or anything, i know lots about it! :):):)

oh yea...

Would be alright if i Major in Anchient Philosphy or Computer Science? (hehe what i plan to major in really)

lostinn your choice has been edited.

Hotstuff you are more than welcome to join us but ranger has been taken. There are several more choices though...which one were you wanting to be?

As for kits...we are not really going to be playing the game...that is simply for a background. Before our players get a chance they will be transported back physically to the world they are playing in as thier characters in real life. It then becomes a game of real life survival and a quest to get back home.

Neale also made some good suggestions. One was that when we are transported, the memories and reflexes-everything the characters should have are transported with them...in other words the stats they have built up in the game are transfered into the bodies they now occupy.

I know that my character won't be coming in for a while but I was thinking of being a dark cleric if that's cool. He will be kind of the shy, quiet type in the modern world but totally different in the other world and in the modern world he majors in journalism and does a lot of creative writing so he will come up with a lot of nasty things.

That sounds like a wonderful plot twist. We are going to start in the next couple of days so if you want to begin with us you can pick up your char when you come back...or..we can wait and have the forces that banned the prof know what is going on and drag you in later in the thread as a counter against us..up to you.

[Edited by Isolde on 02-26-2001 at 09:51 PM]

I think the one where I am dragged in is the best because I am going the day after tomorrow but I'll join in as soon as I get back and act as your counter, because you can't have a hero without a villian, now can you.

Sounds perfect! I hope you have a wonderful vacation, Angelius.

I'm interested indeed, if you'd like me aboard Isolde / Imoen (pleased to meet you!) ... just bought the new D&D core rulebooks myself :)

So... hmm... I think I'll take the part of a half-elven Sorcerer (who have natural magical talent... who needs spellbooks? stuffy old wizards!), with a Raven familiar.

Kepic! Another one of my favorite RPers..you are more than welcome to join. And a great character too..Imoen will have that up and started soon. With this group though I dont see us having anything but a great time.

Do we have a Thief?

hmmm, would it be alright if I be a thief? from what i know, we don't have one! :) All adventuring parties ned a thief to get into trouble *wink*

Sorry again. Imoen picked that right off. On the page before this is a list of what we have. It might help you decide.

hmmmmm.....

Well.... let me see........i believe thats all the classes. except maybe a Druid. Not realy my thing,b ut i can adapt. now lets see if sumone has taken that......
