I have to agree with you, I dont think it neccessary. Just post what your real life character is like and leave it at that. When we get transfered to the other world we will just say that we feel their strengths, abilities, etc..and have to adjust.

About abilities. When we transfer to the new world, the chars will have the natural abilities due them. The wizard will know spells, the cleric will know how to heal, the shapshifter will know spells and how to shapeshift naturally, the thief will know how to pick locks, how to detect traps, how to disarm traps, the fighter will know automatically how to swing a sword and what tequniques to use....all of this will be transfered into them upon arriving in the world.
Once they are the real life chars there is no need for the point system as that is related to rolling the dice and no dice will be rolled in the real life version. You swing the sword and hit the enemy..chant the spell and heal the wound...etc.
I am trusting everyone here to keep things real. If we throw too many restrictions or numbers on people it ceases to be fun. Dont have your char have superhuman powers or know things they shouldnt, etc...But we have some really great role players and I think we should do rather well.

Okay everyone! Today is the day! Imoen and I are offically going to launch the thread today. After this anyone who wants to join will have to do so as a char native to the world we are going to...thanks everyone for coming into this thread. We have alot of great RPers and I just know this is going to be sooooo fun!
We will be posting the first thread on this board btw. I want the plot to be the main thing though, as I said before relationships are welcome in the thread.
I am going to post my char description below and I need everyone else to do the same so we can refer to it if needed...also I need Kepic and Hotstuff to let me know what their majors in college are.

Character sheets aren't really necessary. It isn't like we're really going to be rolling the dice or anything. A vivid imagination is good enough for us.
As for levels, as much as I'd like to avoid numbers, for those of you who are somewhat familiar with D&D let's say ~12-13 level per edition 3. That's a pretty decently high level, but by the story line, everyone has been playing as a group for ~3 years now. Gives everyone access to great abilities of their class/character but doesn't make them god-like in status. If you need more info on the class/character you chose, don't hesitate to get in touch with me. Again, I'd be happy to help.

Shy and apprehensive, she sends off signals of snootiness, but inside is very warm and caring. She seems as if she is always holding back...hiding somethingchaotic within. She is very loyal to the group and protective of her relationship with them.
She stands at 5 feet, 3 inches, probably the smallest of the players. She has large, almond-shaped eyes that cast a strange golden-amber color, seeming to change hue's in relationship to her moods. Petitie in every way, she resembles a girl in most respects, but has womanly curves in just the right places. Her dark hair cascades down her back in slight waves, unless she has it pulled back into a ponytail.

Average strength and wisdom (11 str /12 wis), quite intelligent (13 int), pretty agile and hardy (15 dex / 15 con), and a real charmer (cha 21, got an 18 there and put all my level bonus points into it)
Can (feats) brew potions and craft wondrous magical items, and cast spells heightened, still and silent if desired.

Eyes of Charming, magical 'contact lenses', having made them himself - though has managed to keep these a secret between him and the GM so far.
A pair of winged boots allowing him to fly for two hours a day, without using his own magic to do so.
A Circlet of Persuasion, a silver headband which adds a bonus of 2 to his already formidable Charisma checks.
Numerous potions.

Not much left to pick... no problem though. I have been drawn towards a weapon's expert myself for role playing, so I believe I will be a human fighter. Some good fighting and weaponing skills should come in handy on this adventure.
My major will be in English. I was always a literature type, and would like to be again on a limited basis... (can anyone guess what movie that's off of? Nevermind... I'll tell you later).

A guitar player and singer majoring in music arts. Also plays soccer and a generally approachable person who is always willing to listen.
In the rpg world he's a bard, due to his natural musical talent. His sporting side makes him strong and agile and, his music means he's good with words. His downside is that he's inexperienced with using weapons, and his virtually no magical ability bar very basic spells.

Michael is 6'1 sorta skinny, but has been taking Tak Kwan Do, Kung Fu, Ju Jitsu, and Akdio his whole life, so he knows how to fight. Martial art's, Computers and Anchient istory are his passions in life, and as for luck with girls. He was always the sweet guy, that got passed up for the jock or sumthing.

Namely, alot stronger looking, and cocky, when it comes to fighting. also has better luck with the girls He has alot of pent up anger, and would rather risk his life to win a fight then to back down.
