OOC: Underage Characters

Hi all,

This is a great part of the site - you guys are immensely talented and creative! I'd just like to make one request - can we please keep the characters at least 18 years of age? Before you ask - no, you don't have to specify the age of every character you create. But I think we all agree that it's in everyone's best interest if we keep the children out of the sexplay... I am just wondering Laurel - can't you have something like a "banner" on top of the page asking people to NOT introduce under-age characters? I still see them popping up and - call me a hypocrite (for knowing reality is different)- I would rather see people not ignoring the BB rules (and specially not this one) ...

And in any case the people who might not have noticed this request of Madam yet ... now the thread will show up on top again and hopefully be noticed (and respected adccordingly)!

Sorry for sounding so "uptight" - just me (probably starting to feel old around all those created "kids")

If you want them young - just say "the young girl/boy" ... and let your imagination run as wild as you like.

I too am tired of the people not obeying to our madams request of no character under 18.

In my honest opinion, I think that all the RPS's that have characters under 18 should be deleted.

I agree with ShyGuy's comment that RPGs with obviously underage characters should be deleted. This place has to be selfpolicing, especially when it comes to underage characters.

Maybe there are a few of us that will keep this thread at the top where more people will see it...

So I think it is not a bad idea to keet this line up on top as a reminder for all newcomers just to keep it that way *s*

I generally agree with what all of you are saying, but what about the thread "highschool tease". None of these characters are pervertedly underage (11 or 12) but it is assumable that many of them are in the 16 or 17 range. I don't think that is a problem. Just my thoughts. Feel free to disagree.

I would have to agree with Sweetgirl on this one. underage is all right as long as it doesnt go to far. anything under 16 is to far in my opinion/ :0

Sweetgirl and Xanth ... the GOOD!!!! point about the Highschool Tease is that NOWHERE!! the age of the characters is stated (from all I remember anyway) .. so we all "can imagine" that the participants might be (most likely) below the magic line of 18 ... but just as well they might all have been slow learners... catch my drift here??

A point about not "using" explicit underage characters (besides me not knowing anything about the legal facts on that) might as well be the fact that you are not supposed to be here if you are under age yourself, in the first place, so why have stories evolve around that age?

Plus .. what you may still consider "not too far out" by say 16, and thus think should be tolerated might be a line that someone else sees at 14 (did you notice the amount of posts having characters about/under 14??? Scarry like hell to me - sorry). So just because obviously someone thinks it is fine, can it be tolerated?? I do not think so. Easiest way out of this: Use a straight and legal line so we all know what we are talking about.

But the most valid point actually is the fact that Laurel, our appreciated Mistress of this pleasant abode has the rule that applise to ALL sections of Literotica, including story submissions. Her site - her rules! Easy as that

None of all those points may be the reason for Laurel to have decided upon her rules - but I am glad she did the way she did.

I'm sorry Hecate, but I just don't see the problem with having a story that revolves around two 17 year olds having sex. I don't believe it is illegal anywhere in the US (except maybe Utah). But this is just my opinion and feel free to disagree AGAIN.

okay guys I feel the need to re-iterate that as far as legal guidelines go all characters need to be 18-street legal for sexual stuff...yes I am sure there are quite a few 17 year old engaging in all sorts of debauchery but it is not legal and to keep this site legal and safe from censorship we need to comply...Just do not state the ages-simple, easy and fun...that way we can all play and nobody gets in trouble...okay?Thanks,hey Laurel please makethis mandatory, I am too old for all this dragging around of this thread..now I need a massage, and Hecate-I miss you babe..I am looking forward to the rpg ala pagan..kisses...

Just thought I'd stick a little fly in your ointment. I appreciate your point about no under-age characters, but, the magical eighteen year cut-off point is not necessarily valid everywhere. In many cultures the age of consent varies widely. In the U.S.A. it is mainly eighteen. Junior to that they are considered jail-bait because one could face charges of statutory rape even with consent. Elsewhere different rules apply, in Canada, for example, the age of consent for both sexes is fourteen. What could get you arrested in Detroit wouldn't even blink an eye across the river in Windsor. But even so you're intent remains admirable but shouldn't necessarily be too rigid. Pedophiles should go elsewhere!

I totally agree with your sentiment. Won't argue it at all. But the fact is that this BB physically exists in the United States, and in a state where the legal age for visiting the board is 18. Therefore, the mimimum age for anyone to visit here must be kept at 18. And the posting of characters under 18, even 17, could possibly result in some type of legal action against this board.

Maybe thats an arguable point legally, but the amount of time and money to hire lawyers, spend the time in court, and draw attention to this site as one that allows underage characters I think would not be worth the aggravation for Laurel and Manu, or for any of us who visit the site.

If anyone wants to participate in anything underage, they should do it between themselves with email and not involve this site or its services.

Once again, guys, I can see your point and I am not trying to be a stick in the mud. But the state where this board resides governs the age of visitors and characters on this board. And that age is 18.

Ethically and socially I agree with many of the posts regarding sexual maturity...however I also agree with Merlin-we gotta do whats legal, and here in the USA legal is 18.
