Ornithamateurs - The Birding Thread

Raptor jealous fits here. Wow!

These birds are interesting in that they eat on the wing. I have at least one photo of a "swallow tail" clutching a frog in one foot and (I believe) eating it in flight.

Well what are you waiting for? Post it please! :D
You too, Wife of Bath! Hope you get a pic :)

great shots of the Pileated woodpecker! These are the shyest of birds around here. I've never been able to capture more than a fleeting glimpse with the camera...

WOW! The macaws in flight are gorgeous. Love the orange-backed troupial, too!

These were from a work trip to Brazil. My SO tagged along; he's the birder, and the photographer. The colors and size of some species were rather spectacular. :)

Beautiful, Endless!! Thanks for sharing!
I really love the cars cara. I have seen a few in Texas, The Mexican Eagle variety, and they are so beautiful. I love watching them!

A beautiful ring neck!!
We had pheasant where I grew up, but not where I live now.
I think they are a beautiful, graceful bird. But there were always so many hit on the road :( Evolution hasn't prepared them very well for the modern world, they suffer more than many other birds as far as vehicles go.

I have an old stuffed pheasant on my workbench. That's as much as I see of those these days :)

There were a lot of pheasant around when I was young, but it's very rare to see one now. Then again Turkey's and Deer were rare back then and they are plentiful now. We also have eagles now, which we never had when I was growing up. So things change I guess.

Here's my offering for the day. Just a little common Goldfinch from my files.
