Our dog died...

I'm very sorry, Selena. My animals are like my children. If I could hug you from here, I would... :rose:

Thank you... may sound strange, but it's the first real death I've ever had to deal with, human or animal, aside from a few guinea pigs/hampsters/fish... never lost a dog... they either ran away, or were in someone else's possession when they died... (my ex, my mother, etc.) And I've never lost anyone close to me, except for grandparents when I was so young I barely remember...

knowing something in your head and feeling it are just two totally different things... who knew?

and he was my dog... you know how dogs sometimes pick one person that they love the most? We have another dog, who is my husband's dog, and even when I've had dogs before, they were always really someone else's... but Tucker was my dog, raised him from just a tiny baby (6 weeks old) and he was so young... just a year in March.

I guess this is really what it feels like, to lose something permanently... I feel like such a baby, going on about a dog. but the sun rising this morning on a beautiful day felt like a betrayal...

life is strange.

*HUGS* Selena.

I went through the same thing when my bunny died last year. Sigh. I still check to make sure he's not underfoot sometimes.

Yes, that's exactly what it feels like.

*hugs*

I'm sorry to hear about your dog, Selena. I know to a lot of pet owners that the pets are like part of the family. :rose:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Condolences,

Selena,

Our previous dog died about 3 years ago and it's quite fresh, that sense of loss. Somehow, as with humans, it's hard to picture that he's just 'not here', in fact he isn't anywhere.

One friend said he never have a dog because it feels so bad when they die.

Keep pictures and let him live in your memory. Maybe there is a doggy heaven with no onions or chocolate. Or rugs or pennies.

Thanks, Pure.

My condolences. Face it, dogs are part of the family in most cases, and you have every right to mourn their passing. Same with cats. :rose:
