The whole "party of no" mantra is so overstated. Those that claim it's all about Republican Obstructionism conveniently forget about the over 300 pieces of legislation that Harry Reid has either blocked from being amended or blocked entirely. The Reps wanted to offer thoughts and amendments the ACA but were stopped. There has been no hand across the isle form the left to compromise ....more of a if you do not accept what the left has put forth in it's entirety.....you're obstructing.
Wrong. There were over 200 changes to the ACA at the request of the GOP which were included in the bill in exchange for not a single vote. The Democrats should have trashed it at that point and pushed through single payer. Since the GOP was going to claim that they did it with no input and no GOP support anyway.
You can read through them here if you would rather not remain misinformed.
As far as Reid's "obstructionism", the GOP wants straight up or down votes on the bills they passed without allowing the Senate to revise and resubmit the bills to the House. Most of those bills are strewn with poison pill amendments added by the House GOP in order to force Democrats to vote against them. It's a gotcha game in which the GOP pushes a veteran's bill (for example) and adds in a cut to social programs (for example). This way when the Democrats vote it down the GOP can try to claim that the Democrats voted against Veteran's benefits when in fact they voted against the rider on the bill that cut social program funding.
More on that here.
That is a very informative list.....you should actually read the context of that list and read the last line after each one listed where it states. "rejected by a vote of 9-4" Or " the amendment was not considered by the Democratic majority" I stand by my statement.
You should probably learn how to read. This from the very beginning of that list:
The RSC has compiled a list of House Republican amendments proposed (and rejected by the Democrats) to H.R. 4872, the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, at the Rules Committee and the Budget Committee. In fact, the reconciliation bill that was introduced and voted on the House Floor was not the same bill that passed through the Budget Committee just a few days earlier. In addition to alternative healthcare bills, several other amendments to the reconciliation bill were also proposed by Republican Members in an attempt to limit the federal government’s involvement in the healthcare system.
No less than 101 amendments were submitted to the Rules Committee, and no less than 10 amendments were submitted to the Budget Committee. As part of the Democrat majority’s plan to silence the Republican minority, none of the following amendments were adopted in the Reconciliation bill
