Trump Green Lights Military Force To Take Down Cartels

Wonderful news!
BTW I have greenlit the military to remove the salt from Pacific Ocean

His operation will fail first. Wanna bet?

The noose is tightening around Maduro and his narco-regime. Like I said, this is a repeat of the Noriega fall. The only question is whether Trump will go so far as to actually invade? Personally I don't think so.

President Donald Trump quietly signed a directive ordering the Pentagon to begin using military force against Latin American drug cartels that the administration has labeled as terrorist organizations, The New York Times reported Friday morning.
I think all of us would like to see an end to the drug cartels, but I wonder where the President thinks he gets the constitutional authority for this.

He thinks anything he wants to do, anything at all, is authorized by Article 2. One of Nixon's aides remarked that Nixon thought he was "just like Louis XIV, only four years at a time," and Trump has the same idea.

They hung some dark curtains in the mar-a-lago ballroom to underscore the seriousness of the situation.
As soon as Hegseth completes his last Call of Duty mission they'll attempt to restage the Obama-watching-Bin Laden scene for historical purposes.
Shitty optics. At least close the fucking curtains.

Article II, Sections 2 and 3 vest the President with commander-in-chief authority and the duty to execute the laws and protect the nation. That authority is reinforced by the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF), whose mandate is to prevent and deter future acts of international terrorism. In addition, the United States has not recognized Nicolás Maduro as the legitimate leader of Venezuela since 2019, further undermining any claim of sovereign immunity or lawful head-of-state status.

Under the War Powers Resolution of 1973, the President may initiate military action and has a 60-day window before requiring congressional authorization. Notably, the Supreme Court has never ruled directly on the constitutionality of the War Powers Act, largely treating disputes over it as nonjusticiable under the Political Question Doctrine.

None of that is in play HERE. Whatever Maduro is, he is not in any sense at all a terrorist.

And not a drug trafficker ether.

The military has successfully captured the Venezuelan oil cartels!
The people of Venezuela are dancing in the streets in Caracas and all over South America and in Florida. They are thanking the President for liberating their country from a hated dictator. Get a clue.
