Any thoughts on this "Movement for a People's Party" and the People's Convention, which is trending much of today on Twitter? Is it going to take up the banner of a working class betrayed and abandoned by the DNC, which is too focused on winning suburbanites from Republicans?
If so, we could see three parties in this country. That's my expectation. In the next eight years, the rejected multi-racial working class, especially the youth, will turn to an authentic populist party, leaving the Dems to grab the gentrified, coastal elites of the managerial class and Republicans to hang onto a dwindling regional and religious bloc of Southern/Midwestern evangelical whites.
Don't be shocked if the GOP is gradually relegated to almost third party status and the new populist movement becomes the new alternative to the Democratic Party. After all, unlike the Dems, it won't be founded by a slaveholding war criminal who was responsible for the Trail of Tears.
